Actually... I clearly recall, either from the latest Dev chat, or one of the Blogs/Posts.
Kali2 is supposed to bring a huge new interface to merge the seamless galaxy map with gang controll...
I can see it now.. The FC's sitting in a safe, sending warp commands to a team of 20 Blaster Megas to warp right into the middle of the enemy force, which is already engaged in a sniper duel with the rest of the fleet, mean while, watching the Dreads put the final blows on the target POS. *drool* 
Plus, if its REALLY that big of a hardship, you think any major PvP force could sc*****together the 100M isk a month to start a pure Charisma alt to train everything to lv5, and just share this one alt for fleets... Also, in all practical applications, it takes about 7-9 days to train leadership up to level 5.... and bam, 90% of your fleet activity is covered.. plus Leadership is ALREADY seeded on TQ, you got over a month to get it trained - if it's really going to be such a burden!

Some FPS games have tried this, its always interesting to see how its implimented.

You ever play that game... uhm... Savage... that's it...
was a pretty under the radar release.. and wasnt that great of a FPS... but the seamless intergration of the commander/soldier role was spot on. I can only have wet dreams of EVE's potential with such a system... then.. then... it could be applied to carebearing.. running HUGE carebear ops...

Battlefield allowed this in a limited way I think. I assume BF2 improved it.

Squadron Leader stays as it is, and has no effect on the size of the squadron that you're leading.

Some kind Dev is going to have to explain all this new gang stuff to use very slowly. I for one have nfi which way is up with this part of kali in the slightest. Meanwhile I'll have to get that last advanced learning skill done and get leadership trained to 5. 10/10 plexes here I come at any rate.

I like these changes and the implications. The only gripe i have is the basic Leadership skill. I hope it'll work like Mass Production and Targeting, adding skill to a base value. What i mean is, Leadership allows 1 gang mate, which is the command of one person, making a two man group. Thus Leadership V would allow the command of 5 members, making a 6 man gang.
From a fleet perspective it's not a big difference, but if you're just starting to play the game it's a real bummer to not be able to create a gang at all, especially as many characters start with leadership 1.
So, i really hope gang size will be 1+[leadership level] = command of [leadership level]

This looks like just another time sink. I do not see the purpose of this as it does nothing to control or limit blob warfare in any way.
These skills are already here so its nice to add more value to them. And them being such high rank will bring more specialization, in theory.
Perhaps its a start, but somehow this needs to be flipped into a way to limit the number of ships in a given system. But we need to be conscious of what it takes to bring down a Large POS. ____ "If your not dyin' your not tryin'." "Are you prepared to go all the way, Alexi?" DuGalle |
