Ok I have been considering training for amarr seeing as I like lasers and the nice armor tank. Also the reload time for missiles has killed me like 8/10 times and the amarr do not need to reload. Advice please!

"Also the reload time for missiles has killed me like 8/10 times"
Clearly you're doing something wrong, and switching race won't fix that. Learn how to fit ships first, train up auxilery skills (cap, fitting related etc.) and then maybe think about changing.

Amarr needs to reload/change crystals quite often to use optimal range, else damage output is even crappier.
But buy a Punisher and run some recreational lvl 2's, they're quite fun and is good training, then compare it to a Merlin with a blaster/rocket setup.

Bah stop flaming!
Anyways i switched from minmatar to amarr and to be honest amarr isnt much better or worse, more"train your ship skill to 5 or die"but same difference.
If you want to go amarr you need to go amarr all the way or choose a different race.
And yes even though our crystals reload instantly doesnt mean they load instantly in eve

Edited by: Madcat Adams on 26/10/2006 18:59:06 Amarr ships atm have a few drawbacks, if you are willing to invest hard core into training time, they can mostly be overcome. Just keep that in mind. Personally, if I'd known some of these problems, would have trained another race, but a year into Amarr, too stuborn to leave. And never ever forget, cap is life to Amarr.

Amarr ATM bar a few ships (Arbitrator, Geddon, and Tech II) aren't really worth training for. They are good in gate camping working with other races yes, but ultimately right now other races are better. Caldari are the best race, so if you're dying a lot you're doing something wrong.

Curse/Pilgrim, Retribution, Zealot and the Bs's are nice ships, worth to train for. Don't listen to all that whiners, they don't have a clue about doing pvp with amarr, or pvp in general.

Id just train for hybrid turrets and get a rohk if you want a change, able to wtf pwn while being able to use much the same skills. Amarr arnt really worth it, id have trained Caldari/Gallante from the off if i had know what they would be like in missions/against rats. With the ecm nerf they will become ok pvpers though.

Give "Change ammo - all" command. Rightclick on Megapulse II, chose "X-Ray - all", and every Megapulse II switches at the same time. Of course, should work for all turrets and launchers.
Would be nice for everyone, and a slight boost to amarr to allow them to really take advantage of the lack of reload time.

I have flown and trained for Amarr ships exclusively for 3,5 years now i have seen them own all with shield and cap relays , i have flown gankaddons and melted everything within 80 km, i have seen Ammar being outclassed by every ship ingame, i have seen Amarr reduced to inexpensive mining platforms once again or forced to fit artilleries and hybrids.
Now i have 12 mill sp in lasers and 13 mill sp in Amarr starships and the only ships worth flying are the ones based on the Arbitrator hull and the Archon. My advice to you right now is train something else, like i have finally begun to.
Golan The Gallente ideals of Freedom, Liberty and Equality will be met by the Amarr realities of Lasers, Armor and Battleships.

I personally like my geddon. The biggest mistake a rookie amarr BS pilot could make would be fitting one specific chrystal. I always carry 7 of each with me, meaning range doesn't matter except:
Short range = horrible *****damage. Long range = weaker damage.
--> Strong -----------------> Weak
However, rookie amarr pilots sometimes decide to just get one all purpose chrystal (Usually a midrange, like ultraviolet), than whine they can't fight longrange and that their damage sucks.

P.S. Sorry about copying your sig but I really liked it
lol =) I gots no problem with it, enjoy.
Haven't pvp'd a lot, they are fairly good, though certain ships are of course more useful. Amarr ships are normally going to be doing dmg, so the geddon is a good choice for a fleet op. Gatecamping the gankageddon use to be king, those days are gone now though. Perhaps the Abaddon will regain that place, though it's capacitor problems will force you to pick softer targets or keep a steady supply of booster charges available.

Edited by: Setana Manoro on 27/10/2006 19:33:23 This is a gallente char but i like the amarr recons just too much, compared to the gallente ones, so i am training for them - drone interfacing 5 and amarr cruiser 5 is killing me though. Then i realized that i also needed some skills like Mechanic 5, Engineering 5, Hull Upgrades 5 without whom any decent setup is next to impossible ... so i thought wth, i'll train for amarr HAC's since amarr cruiser 5 is a pre-requisite for recons anyway. So now i have decided to go fully Amarr with Setana. Gonna do recons + bs for pvp and HAC's for mission running. Atm i am contemplating if i should replace BS with CS on that list since i really don't feel like doing tech 2 large energy turrets and tbh, arty's are better for apoc and will probably also be on the abbadon.
But overall, i should say that i am happy so far with my choice, kinda freaked out at first when i saw how my cap was falling down when firing the pulse's on my prophecy. :)
PS: It all started when i looked at the Arbitrator and i liked it more than the Vexor. :) Next step when was i saw a buddy do level 4's in Sac/Zealot/Absolution with incredible ease. Final step when Tux "fixed" null, on account of the whiners. 10x Tux for making a close range ammo into a sniping ammo. My Incursus/Enyo/Ishkur is a great sniper at 3000m with Null S; why, I can even snipe up to 6000m if i take into account falloff. --------------------------------------------------
Always look on the bright side of life. :) |
