So im a ganker that love to blap AutoPiloters and noobs hauling their *beep*.
But i've noticed more and more people coming to collect a km but yet calling it anti-ganking.
What im trying to figure out is why they call themselves anti-gankers when they dont save the target im going for, but only collecting km's filled with gateguns.
So what im asking is, what is the point of that?
And as you prob will ask, whats the point of ganking in hi-sec? Loot ofcorse. |

Some people think KM's is a sign of skill or prestige. In actuality, its the hunt not the kill.

If I began failing because they actually do something worth calling anti-ganking, then yes I would either cut it down/stop or find a new way of doing so.
But you cant stop somebody by killing them after the gank has already ben done. |

They would have called themselves anti-gankingers if they cared about stopping what you're doing. They don't they just want your corpses. |

Its obvious bait, but hell, I wouldn't have my name if I didn't at least pretend to fail at something. Here goes nom nom nom.
You see, Anti-ganking isn't about helping others. It isn't about saving the victim. Nor even about stopping ganking like the name implies. Anti-ganking is all about whoring on a CONCORDOKKEN, and then claiming victory. Its a reactive movement versus a proactive movement.
Sure, there are some who will use some ECM or reps to save someone once in a great while, but those acts are so few and far between that they are outliers in the AG statistics.
Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

At least they are doing something involving interacting with other players, rather than just leveling up their Raven.
BTW, actually trying to stop the gank is sometimes referred to as "White Knighting". I've wondered if the game would benefit from changes that make White knighting a practical profession. Right now, gankers laugh at White knights.

I think White Knighting is perfectly possible, it's just that there isn't enough actual interest in the past time coupled the ones who are interested in it going about it the wrong way. There was a thread in C&P a while back encouraging people to just bring logistics ships to prevent ganks because CONCORD would already provide enough DPS and e-war to choke an elephant.
The problem then becomes getting the logi ships into the right place at the right time. I don't know how the game could change in order to better facilitate that without throwing other things horribly off balance.

Its not that their opinion matters, it's that it is, in fact, a valid statement of the validity of the activity. But you do not have to believe me. Go out and try White knighting and see for yourself. I love to hear if you find ways to be successful at it.
