The fact that Umoek has you all believing this is ******* ridiculous. He paid and i turned off my scram. The other two that i was with said screw that we want more at least 30 mil. He did'nt pay so THEY podded him not me. That is their business not mine. Umoek jumped me in a t2 fitted rupture and lost. He needs to quit being a ***** and get on with it. I have never dishonored a ransom and never will. Ask anyone that i have ransomed. There are only 2 things which are sacred to me and that is 1V1 and ransoms. And if you want to keep thinking that it was 9th fleet go head, but I acted on my own accord and to what i thought was best at the time.

well, if you ransom, you should make sure that everyone in your gang will agree with you. As long as he was refunded 10m, then it is okay.

Yeah...if you accept a ransom, you do it for the WHOLE gang, regardless of what corps are involved. What happened here, from what I can tell, is that there were two corps in one gang, correct? And from there, one accepted a ransom and left, but didn't keep the others from demanding a second ransom, even though the captured pilot assumed he was paying to get freed. And then after he refused to pay a second ransom and was podded, it took much effort to get the first ransom back, right?
That's...not quite as bad as popping him on purpose after he payed, but it's still dirty as all hell. He should have gotten him money back within two or three minutes, max. He shouldn't have had to call in more people and make a public post about it.

So, you "honoured" it but the gang you were with did not? So, they don't respect you? Take it you won't be flying with them again?
If it was a gang I take it you were going to share the ransom? If they said it wasn't enough you should have repaid before they podded. Did you even discuss it properly? If the ransom was sent at the same time they decided to pod, a swift refund and apology should have been given.
Not even a proper apology here from anyone connected with this gang or their corps. If you lot looked lame at the beginning of this post, you look worse now.
If I win your auction, please Convo me before escrowing so I can claim straight away. Thanks! |

Umoek convo'ed me while i was popping his ship when he realzed his mistake of jumping me. He said dont pop me im friendly? He had -10 standings so i popped him. I should have cleared it with the gang first for the ransom price next time i will do that. But we sat there a good 5 minutes dicussing while his POD was scrammed. They were afraid he might be stalling for time and calling for help. So they popped him. The whole time he was saying "Dont do it you'll be sorry" **** like that. For such an old player to act like a ******* ***** ass noob is just pathetic. And since I did not clear the ransom first with the gang i take full responsibility for my actions. And he was repayed within 10 min of being podded.

I have known Chunk for a while ingame, and NEVER have i seen him act dishonourably in any way. even when our corps were negative to each other, he was courteous, friendly and polite. I honestly cannot see him doing anything like this deliberately.

Edited by: Roamer excertes on 02/11/2006 08:12:35 1. The gang you was in took the money and held him for 5 minutes, so the other members of the gang were aware that you had taken the 10 million as ransom.
2. You told your corp you warped off , yet you say here that you were there for the 5 minutes
3. Umoek shows in his post where he questioned you about the 10 mill paid, and you stated , "10 more for the gang" it shows you had no intention of returning it.
4. You made no attempt to stop the podding, and still may of actually been a part of it, as so much of your story on here doesnt match what your corps officer has been told
5. After the podding NO IMMEDIATE attempt was made to return the money,, instead as posted and not denied by anyone on your side a lot of pressure from mutual friends had to be bought in
6. You dont even have the decency to apologise
The posts made by you are made even worse by smacking Umoek instead of addressing the issues in a civil manner.
reading all the posts in this thread it is clear that you cant even tell the truth to your own corps so why should any of us trust ANYTHING you say.
You sir, and all those in your gang are a disgrace

Hmm - what about the flip side when you agree a ransom but the victim is using ransom negotiation convo time to get that bit of cap for a mwd boost and run / calling there friends into system to protect them?
How come no pirates post threads sayin " MR SMIGGLES TRICKED ME AND DIDNT PAY HIS RANSOM CRY CRY CRY AND NOW MY SHIP IS POPPERS!"

But how many others has this guy and his gang mates ransomed and popped who dont have mutual friends with 9th/Diretrucking to put the pressure on for a refund?.
Ransoming then podding, then NOT IMMEDIATLY paying the ransom back is low.
this guy had no intention of returning it until pressure was put on.
I know i will never pay a ransom to Dire/9th because i dont have the mutual friens to ensure I get the money back when they pod me anyway

I realise this has nothing to do with the matter at hand, but what were you doing PvP'ing in an Implant clone anyway? If you stand to lose a lot of ISK through implants and you know full well your going to be fighting you switch clones. Sorry but thats just the way i feel.

My only thought is. Why the heck would you be pirating in a t2 rupture with +4 full snake set........ Dumb mother *)($@(*).............. Plus. Complaining about a 10 mil ransom is worthless. You could go out to 0.0 for 30 min and make 10 mil..... Grow up and learn your lession and play smartly.

Due to my implants I paid up, and was then podded,
I spoke to the pilot that podded me, Superchunk of Dire trucking, and informed him that i had paid the 10 million
"SuperChunk > 10 more for my gang"
So i convoed one of the Dire Trucking Officers saying look i paid up the ransom of 10m and your piolt still is going to pop my pod please talk to him... but she did nothing.. says alot about her character.
Only extreme pressure put onto 9th fleet leadership by mutual friends led to the ransom money being eventually returned, however this doesnt cover the loss of my implants.
So take this warning , 9th fleet/Dire trucking will not honour ransoms
I apologize that I was a part of this situation and was unable to stop my gangmates from podding you. The ransom was conducting with the highest standard of professionalism and it was not I who caused the final act.

Highest level of professionalism would have meant that you would have your gang in control while conducting a randsom.
If the person offered 10 million and you accepted, it would have meant that the gang accepted. Considering that the gang wanted 30 million, it shows that you didn't even discuss with the gang how much the randsom should be. Not very professional in my view.
I am more leaning toward him randsoming the pod for self gain, then leaving the victim to the wolves.

How many of you at the office really know how the other is. Hell, I don't even know my neighbors for 10 years to know what they do in the privacy of their home (not putting up a public front). Unless you were there, your words mean nothing.

I think Umoek is just using the entire situation to wring some more money for himself out of these guys. In which case I have to say kudos to him. A person who tries to take the most advantage out of a situation is the kind of person who will survive in EVE. I remember once when I lost a fully insured geddon with crap fittings when I got ganked ratting. The people ratting thought I was a pirate (which I was) but I told them I was an anti-pirate who killed pirates and thats how I got my low sec status. The story was believable since I was on an industrial corp at the time (they let me pirate and built me ships so what the hell). Just as a cherry on the cupcake I told them I hadn't insured my ship. So I got a geddon, with fittings, plus the money to insure it.
Gotta make the best out of all situations. =============================================== We are Watching You. |

NewYorker..... You are stating the obvious. But you have failed to read the forum in detail. If you will re-read the forum, you will realize superchunk was 1 v 1. No gang needed no conversation required about ransoming details to the gang other than , dont kill this guy because I just got ransom off him. Maybe you should re-read instead of stating the obvious. Do you want me to make SuperChunk's own statement to show you that when the randsom happened...he was ganged?
Guess Murtific gets free smoothies or some type of incentive at work. Apparently SuperChunk didn't even tell him the whole story, yet Murtific is willing to go out on a limb for his co-worker. How cute
