Game is halting at "Entering game as ..."
The game is not locked, I still can reach the 'esc' menu.

Please use the sticky for comments and questions regarding the current outage.
To answer the questions about the character selection screen - this is due to heavy load on the servers as a large number of people try and log back in after the earlier TQ issues. Just be patient and bear with it - things should be working once the servers settle down.
I hope that helps!

Same. It hangs and took the client 5 minutes to blunder through this part of the login procedure.
Tried it several times to make sure it's not a hiccup and it did it every time.

They have just added new hardware I guess it needs time to adjust to server loads etc.

I will say that the 5minits I was logged in for (some time between 5 & 6 GMT) everything seemed grate, the market and other necom tabs seemed much faster! I was even saying so in local just b4 I lost connection and couldn't log back in (**** my optimism ) but I am looking forward to seeing just how much of a difference has been made when this 'glitch' sorted out.

I get periods where nothing is responsive at all. I can get a single line of chat in, then its that bzzzzt noise. All I am doing is sitting in a station too. No markets, nothing other than spinning the ship around. That gives me periods where the client just plain freezes up for between 15 seconds to a full minute. I ahve had this happen once in space as well, warped to a station, then sat tehre for over a minute in space before anything respoinded again. Had the same type of problems before the hardware upgrade as well, but the GM who responded to my petition, said there isnt anything they can do or something.
So for me, I dont see any beter performance really.

Market is very fast now compared to pre-upgrade. The market performance now reminds me back to the days of <10,000 online. I can update my prices and not have to wait 10 sec for screen to reload.
Thank you very much CCP!
Haven's had the opportunity to test out anything else yet, but this is encouraging. Looking forward to the weekend!

Hello all,
Id just like to mention that although the hardware added seems to have given TQ a little more to play with, from my experiances last night it would appear to me that the problem lies more in the load balencing.
Basically the lag for the last couple of months had been fairly constant. But after the edditional hardware was installed the lag became more intermittant. One minute there was no lag and everything was working very smoothly, the next minute everything just stopped responding, module wouldnt activate, the ship wouldnt accept any new commands. Then after a short period, maybe 10-30 seconds all the commands and module activation requests seemed to go through.
Although this in an improvement performance wise, im a little worried as the unpredictability of the lag spikes after the hardware upgrade make it more dangerous as people tend to get used to working with a certain delay, but when it is unpredictable it is harder to adapt to.
So all in all i can see the benefit that the new hardware as braught us. Now i can only hope and pray that a load balancing fix is just around the corner.
/me crosses fingers.

I have just received a pop-up message stating that the cluster has reached it's maximum amount of users.
Both Evemon, and the Eve Client state that the current users online is only 19,954. I am 121nd in queue.
Before the hardware upgrade I have seen more then 27k online and I had never been placed into a logon queue.
Perhaps CCP should consider running their cluster with something sensible, such as FreeBSD.

Oh, wow, another linuxbot. Perhaps you should consider figuring out what you're talking about, before posting nonsense.
The login queue does not mean that you have to wait for someone else to logoff. It comes into action when a large number of people is trying to login simultaneously (typically when coming out of DT). Login is a heavy action for the server, and the purpose of the queue is to distribute that load over a slightly longer time. This prevents the server from being swamped with simultaneous login requests, something which would increase the average wait.
