Many people could care less about your religion, your god, and your since of morals. The federation endorses freedom to every extent. The freedom to choose your religion,a nd the freedom to live a life of self indulgince and sin, if one wants. It's up to the individual person, no one has the right to control anyone else. The Federation dosn't want your saving, the State dosn't want it, and the Republic sure as hell dosn't wont it. As for the Jove, well, they just intend to stay out of it. Gallente's have done nothing other then let people live without interfearing. What people do with that freedom, is up to them.

Even with the mighty Caldari Navy and the Megacorp police forces, a war against the Federation will cost heavy losses on both sides and it's far from certain that Caldari will win. The Gallente Federation despite their many faults is still the only thing that keeps the Amarr slavers from conquering whats left of the Minmatar space, so Minmatar will have a real intresst in helping the Federation in case of an Caldari preemtive strike. Is the state strong enough to fight a war on 2 fronts? Unlikely. I'm pretty sure the warmongers on Caldari side will say that the mighty Amarr fleet will come to their rescue, but think about it for a moment. Why would they be intressted in helping you? Wouldn't it be much more effective to wait for Gallente, Caldari and Minamatar to destroy themselfs, while the Amarr are waiting until they can sweep us up in one swift movement? That's a large load of new slaves for them, nothing more. So if you are prepared to pay the price of stupidity and end up in the slavemines, then go ahead attack the Federation.
