Large alliances have jump bridges set up to allow easy travel across their space, but the jump bridges require fuel, and you are expected to bring fuel in the cargo hold of your ship so that you don't deplete the limited /emergency reserves in the jump bridge node itself. So make sure you buy fuel blocks from the market and carry them in your ship cargo hold; put the fuel blocks in the jump bridge hold before you select "jump."
The new beta map that CCP introduced simplifies the job of Fleet Commanders tremendously. FC's no longer have to announce in TeamSpeak whether the gate is green or red; you can simply open the map and see the color yourself: all gates are connected to their destination with color lines (green, red, etc.).
If you do not finish the career tutorial missions, you won't get your certification. Without the certification, your character is considered just a capsuleer, and you won't be able to enter the Captain's Quarters because the quarters are available only to certified captains. Don't worry, though, you can (re-)take the tutorial missions at any point in time by simply traveling to a school station.
All those ships you see flying in the distance while you're docked in a station are other players coming in or going out. If they all disappear, something's going on outside, and it's probably a good idea to undock to check what's what.
For AFK mining, press Ctrl-Alt-Shift-M to bring up the game's secondary control panel, and make sure "Enable Resource Unloading" is checked. You may see the Lazy Queue number increase, but that's ok; the resource (that is, your ore) will automatically be unloaded to a jettisoned container so your corp's Orca can pick it up. |

Up until 2013 (two years ago), we could order our EON Magazine, an EVE-Online related publication, by simply clicking the Subscribe button above (in the upper right corner of the forums). Unfortunately, CCP has discontinued the magazine, and, also unfortunately, they forgot to remove the "Subscribe" button. We keep reminding them, but it's been 2 years already...
The EVE Online Launcher contains a newbie tutorial image: you can see a number of stealth bombers and a rather large battleship headed at full speed towards the wreck of a titan. EVE is harsh; those ships aren't there to rescue the survivors, who may be stuck in airless rooms or burning alive in the fires. No, the bombers and battleship are there to attack the wreck, and the best way to do that is to fly straight at it, and release the bombs and full battleship firepower at point-blank range.
If you're a newbie and not sure what to do in-game, when you open the launcher to start the game, click on the Settings sprocket and go to the Game tab. Click "Start EVE Online in safe mode," and your stuff won't get destroyed if other people attack you. |

Oh look, another NPC alt..... .....who knows nothing about the game.
You're probably unaware, but .... staring at rocks all day dulls the brain.
It's the natural fate of all carebears. Who, by the way, are all doing it wrong. The elite know better.
...but I wouldn't expect you to understand.

If you're going to be carrying something expensive through lowsec be sure to make a post about it in the C&P forums, they'll be happy to provide you with an escort, make sure you give as many details as possible such as the date, time, route and what your carrying. Also be sure to use a t1 hauler as they have a higher ehp and are designed for travelling through lowsec. |

Often post in the well known style of someone else, preferably off-topic. The forum moderators really do not mind at all. That is is, in most cases. Now and again. Ok, sometimes.
Or, well, you know, very seldom.
Oh forget it!
I have removed a rule breaking post The Rules: 27. Off-topic posting is prohibited.
Off-topic posting is permitted within reason, as sometimes a single comment may color or lighten the tone of discussion. However, excessive posting of off-topic remarks in an attempt to derail a thread may result in the thread being locked, or a forum warning being issued to the off-topic poster.

Ships and modules in the corporate hangar are there for everyone to use, so grab them all and USE them!!
If you're in a player corporation and do a lot of missions, ask the CEO or directors to change the tax rate based on the going rates for your mission loot, because EVE has a player economy and priced fluctuate, and thus taxes should follow the price fluctuations. It's unfortunate that CCP hasn't implemented dynamic taxes, and is instead forcing the CEO's to update tax rates daily.
You'll never get those civilian modules from the tutorial ever again, they're unique to the new player experience. Make sure you keep them so you can use them, and if you sell them, don't fall for the market scams, don't sell them cheaply. The civilian modules are intended for newbies to get their initial 100 million ISK that they need for skills, but most newbies don't even realize it and fall prey to the scammers. Don't be that newbie!
If you get a bounty on your head, you're screwed! Don't undock, or you'll be killed repeatedly for the bounty. Bounties last for a long, long time; consider starting a brand new, clean alt.
Don't use the tactical view (with the concentric ranges) when other player ships are in the area with you; it bugs other people to have all your range circles clutter up their view of space. Also, you're making your ship easier to kill by showing everyone what range you are from them.
NPC pirates are always shown as red crosses in the overview (and in space), and are typically aggressive and will try to kill you on sight. Unless you adopt their colors, in which case they ignore you unless you get closer than 2.5 km from them. To change colors, you simply hit ESC and pick the Sanshas, Guristas, or whatever other pirate color set from the game's control panel. |

Always check the patch notes, General Discussion, and the Information Portal forum before undocking, because sometimes there are bugs that will completely ruin your day. The Battle of Asakai happened because CCP screwed up and moved all those ships to Asakai by mistake, and it turned out the players secretly hated each other.
They didn't even say "gf" before they started shooting. Read the linked dev blog to see how much of a pain it was for CCP to roll back the server and reimburse all the lost ships! That's when CCP decided to shrink down the jump range of ships to only 5 ly, so another Asakai never happens again.

It seems like solid newbie logic to use both modules - web and scram. Can they both be used, but scram needs to go first? Does webbing first make the scrambler inactive? or is it because webbing reduces the ship's needed velocity to initiate warp, allowing them to warp away even faster? |

(Yeah, if you webify they can potentially insta-warp before you have a chance to activate your scram. Matter of fact, an alt with webifiers is recommended if you're flying a freighter; can make the freighter warp faster after each gate, otherwise it takes 15 minutes per gate). |

You can prove that you are worthy of playing EVE Online by mining your way to a PLEX in your introductory month. Even better if you can do it in the trial period. This is a great way to ensure that you understand the basic mechanics of the game, and will set you up for maximum enjoyment of all that EVE has to offer.
Always set your expectations high, and accept failure to accomplish your goals as evidence of your value as a human.
Treat every ship you buy as special. Give it a name. Treasure that ship as a symbol of your freedom, it is the only one like it in the whole game.
Don't trust anyone.

Webbing lowers top speed, if that target was in the process of aligning to warp out then webbing generally makes them warp away instantly.
