Don't do incursions in Hisec because they are waaaay to risky and don't earn all that much isk either. Also, when doing PVP, don't engage people who 'live' in nullsec, they are elite PVP'ers and will kill you by just thinking about it.

Class 5 and 6 worm holes are really easy to solo. Just fit something shiny like a Stratios with two repairs and it can tank them easily. If you take other people more rats appear, you all get less ISK total and then you have to share that with others.
Three battleships is all you need to kill a freighter, shoot the first one you see undocking from Jita, they only come and go full of goods because the risk of losing a ship is too high to risk on an empty profitless run.
Always warp disrupt some of your fleet mates and pull back some range during the heat of battle to make sure you can get away and live.
Always use fitting rigs to get the biggest guns and prop mods you can onto a ship. Just think of a cruiser with large guns as being like a destroyer with harder to hit ship and more damage.

Jetisson a can with 1 piece of ammo at each wormhole you pass through, and rename the can with your name. It makes the wormhole last longer than the normal 24 hours, and also helps you return to the wormhole because you can set up the overview to show containers, so you can just warp to the containers/wormholes from the overview.
Always say Hello in the local channel after passing through a wormhole; greeting the local residents is the polite thing to do.
When joining a fleet, when the fleet commander asks people to "x up", use n instead of x if you're a newbie, so that he's aware that you may need help. X is for experts, n is for newbies.
We're all rich from having played for 10+ years, so people don't mind giving out the odd 100 million - 1 billion to newbies to get them started; it's just chump change to us. Just say you're a newbie and ask in local, and you'll have a much easier time buying all the skills you need with the money.
You'll want to buy SKINs for your ships as soon as possible. CCP has brightened all the nebulas to make ships much easier to see and hit with weapons, so you want to get all the SKINs that have the dark colors, such as the blacks and the browns, to reduce incoming DPS. |

If you're getting shot at by pirates, open a convo window and ask for "parlay." Make sure to use the word parlay, as the pirates are only shooting you because they're roleplaying, and they'll get pissed off if you break immersion (also, make sure you spell parlay properly, as roleplayers are typically grammar ***** and will interrupt you with corrections).
If you request parlay, the pirates are honor-bound to stop shooting and grant you a convo, so take the time to think of a good roleplay background for your character and type it out as the first thing you say in the convo window, so they know you're going to roleplay with them. Make sure it's at least 3 paragraphs, and includes the status of your parents, whatever childhood disaster you experienced, and the lessons you learned from it that are applicable to the current piracy situation you found yourself in. |

3. When fitting your expanded cargo laser Hyperion, don't forget that big ships need point defence against small, fast-moving targets, and NPCs like to kill drones. So, fit both Large lasers as the main caliber, and Small lasers for destroyers and frigates, like any respectable World War I battleship captain would do.
4. Being independent from station facilities is important. Buth Hull repairer and an Armor repairer are a must. You can save MILLIONS by fitting a small hull repper to your battleship.
5. Don't forget that all the above must be cap stable, and with at least one Warp Core Stabilizer to help against the evil player pirates.

Always turn the camera to look behind you, to see if you're followed. That's where most of the attacks will come from. Especially from cloaked ships, they're like backstabby rogues in other MMO's. Your ship can fly forwards just fine on autopilot, so turn the camera to look behind you, and always keep it in rear-view mode.
The Deep Core Mining laser is so expensive and has so many skill prerequisites because it's very powerful, and also because it has a cool blue beam (it's kinda like the blue SKINs are expensive for the same reason). So, if you like the color blue, and if you want to improve your mining yield, you should definitely use the DCM laser.
Mining lasers deposit the load of ore into your cargo at the end of the cycle, so if you want a fast cycle full of ore without the 1 or 3 minutes of waiting for it, simply deactivate and reactivate your lasers every 5 seconds, or at whatever interval you're comfortable with, and voila, your ore hold will fill up faster.
Grouped weapons only have 1 icon and thus will not do much damage. You should ungroup your weapons for full damage, especially on battlecruisers and battleships that have the full rack of 8 guns. That way you'll do full damage.
Overheating modules is only useful at Christmas time; all it does is gives you resistances vs. cold, but the only cold weapons are the snowballs that CCP gives us during the holidays. So, most of the year, overheating is useless, but at Christmas we do go somewhat crazy with the snowballs, and you wouldn't want your ship to freeze in space and not be able to move. So make sure to train Thermodynamics and be prepared to overheat come Dec. 25. Even if you don't celebrate Christmas, it's still recommended that you overheat; snowballs are like smartbombs, they don't differentiate and will hit everyone regardless of religious affiliation.
If you hear 3 short buzzing sounds, like an alarm of sorts, look up at the overview, someone is buzzing you. If you don't see who, the 3 buzzes will repeat in a little bit (though they'll sound slightly different, in case you had trouble hearing the first 3). Then they'll repeat one more time, just in case you missed the person again. |

The correct comment exchange after a fight is:
they: gf you: ur mom
They're complimenting your girlfriend, you're complimenting their mother, all is good.
If you're in 0.0 or wormhole space at a POS tower, your ship may not stay inside the shields when you log off, especially if there are many POS arrays and modules inside the shield. You should ALWAYS log back in to check if your ship stayed inside the POS shields. Check as many times as necessary until you're sure.
The stacking penalty refers to the fact that you can't stack certain ship modules right next to each other; they interfere with each other. Spread these modules out, and always leave empty slots between them, when you install them in the Fitting screen.
If your mouse gets stuck and you can't control the camera, open the fitting screen with the keyboard (alt-F) and then spin the ship inside the fitting screen. This will recalibrate and unlock your mouse, so you can then look around the ship normally again.
If an alliance sets your corporation blue so your members can enter their space, this means all your members must by the blue colored SKINs, and only blue ships can enter that alliance's space. NBSI means "not blue, shoot it" which you can take literally, because the alliance certainly will. If you don't have the money for the expensive blue skins, look for an alliance that deals with other colors... NYSI, NGSI, NRSI, etc. They're rare, but just look at the Corporations forum and you should see them. |

As you may know, setting up market buy orders requires that some of the ISK in your wallet be transferred into the market escrow. However, if you don't wish to pay the escrow fees and taxes to the market interface (and thus to CCP), there is an alternative. A player named Chribba offers escrow services, and he is completely trusworthy and well known in the community for his services. Simply use Chribba's escrow service, and just send him the list of things you'd like to buy, and he'll take care of it within 24 hrs guaranteed.
CCP has made changes to the player-owned-structures (POS), part of an effort to improve and standardize all deployed structures. Just as stations have an exit corridor and an entrance/docking corridor, POSes now also have an approach vector to enter and exit the POS shields. You must approach the POS shields from the top and enter through the upper shield funnel. Do not use the bottom shield funnel, that is for ships exiting the POS only.
T3 destroyers have been specifically designed to deal with the crowded spaces within the POS shields in alliance nullsec space; they can change shape so they can still fit in any available cranny in the POS shield without any bits of the ship sticking out. The Svipul is especially good at this, which is why it's so popular. So, if you're joining a null alliance, bring a Svipul, and your rent will be lower as a result.
Eve DOES have a console mode and quite a few useful cheat commands, but it's an MMO so they're all on the server side. Click the ? button, and choose the option for Bug Report, but type ~ in the Title field (just the ~ character, nothing else), and type any of the following commands in the body of the window:
runscript give_isk 100000000000 runscript add_high_slot 1-4 runscript add_mid_slot 1-4 runscript add_low_slot 1_4 runscript zz_debug_standings "npc faction" "1.00 to 10.00" runscript move_player_to Jita (or system name) tcl tfow toggle_ai
The last 3 cheat codes are especially useful; tcl toggles clipping (collisions) so nobody can bump your freighter, tfow reveals enemy fleet movement as blips on the map, and toggle_ai makes all incursion and sleeper NPCs just freeze in space and stop shooting. |

Listing all your personal information in GD is one of the best ways to make new friends in this game that as we all know, focuses on love and sharing.

GD is the most reasoned and fact-based forum in which capsuleers honor and respect one another with love, camaraderie, and togetherness. It is, in essence, the true reflection of the kind heart and loving, helpful atmosphere encapsulated by the game.
So post often and always listen to the encouragement from your fellow pilots. They love you. They LOVE you.

Large alliances have jump bridges set up to allow easy travel across their space, but the jump bridges require fuel, and you are expected to bring fuel in the cargo hold of your ship so that you don't deplete the limited /emergency reserves in the jump bridge node itself. So make sure you buy fuel blocks from the market and carry them in your ship cargo hold; put the fuel blocks in the jump bridge hold before you select "jump."
The new beta map that CCP introduced simplifies the job of Fleet Commanders tremendously. FC's no longer have to announce in TeamSpeak whether the gate is green or red; you can simply open the map and see the color yourself: all gates are connected to their destination with color lines (green, red, etc.).
If you do not finish the career tutorial missions, you won't get your certification. Without the certification, your character is considered just a capsuleer, and you won't be able to enter the Captain's Quarters because the quarters are available only to certified captains. Don't worry, though, you can (re-)take the tutorial missions at any point in time by simply traveling to a school station.
All those ships you see flying in the distance while you're docked in a station are other players coming in or going out. If they all disappear, something's going on outside, and it's probably a good idea to undock to check what's what.
For AFK mining, press Ctrl-Alt-Shift-M to bring up the game's secondary control panel, and make sure "Enable Resource Unloading" is checked. You may see the Lazy Queue number increase, but that's ok; the resource (that is, your ore) will automatically be unloaded to a jettisoned container so your corp's Orca can pick it up. |

Up until 2013 (two years ago), we could order our EON Magazine, an EVE-Online related publication, by simply clicking the Subscribe button above (in the upper right corner of the forums). Unfortunately, CCP has discontinued the magazine, and, also unfortunately, they forgot to remove the "Subscribe" button. We keep reminding them, but it's been 2 years already...
The EVE Online Launcher contains a newbie tutorial image: you can see a number of stealth bombers and a rather large battleship headed at full speed towards the wreck of a titan. EVE is harsh; those ships aren't there to rescue the survivors, who may be stuck in airless rooms or burning alive in the fires. No, the bombers and battleship are there to attack the wreck, and the best way to do that is to fly straight at it, and release the bombs and full battleship firepower at point-blank range.
If you're a newbie and not sure what to do in-game, when you open the launcher to start the game, click on the Settings sprocket and go to the Game tab. Click "Start EVE Online in safe mode," and your stuff won't get destroyed if other people attack you. |

Ships and modules in the corporate hangar are there for everyone to use, so grab them all and USE them!!
If you're in a player corporation and do a lot of missions, ask the CEO or directors to change the tax rate based on the going rates for your mission loot, because EVE has a player economy and priced fluctuate, and thus taxes should follow the price fluctuations. It's unfortunate that CCP hasn't implemented dynamic taxes, and is instead forcing the CEO's to update tax rates daily.
You'll never get those civilian modules from the tutorial ever again, they're unique to the new player experience. Make sure you keep them so you can use them, and if you sell them, don't fall for the market scams, don't sell them cheaply. The civilian modules are intended for newbies to get their initial 100 million ISK that they need for skills, but most newbies don't even realize it and fall prey to the scammers. Don't be that newbie!
If you get a bounty on your head, you're screwed! Don't undock, or you'll be killed repeatedly for the bounty. Bounties last for a long, long time; consider starting a brand new, clean alt.
Don't use the tactical view (with the concentric ranges) when other player ships are in the area with you; it bugs other people to have all your range circles clutter up their view of space. Also, you're making your ship easier to kill by showing everyone what range you are from them.
NPC pirates are always shown as red crosses in the overview (and in space), and are typically aggressive and will try to kill you on sight. Unless you adopt their colors, in which case they ignore you unless you get closer than 2.5 km from them. To change colors, you simply hit ESC and pick the Sanshas, Guristas, or whatever other pirate color set from the game's control panel. |

Always check the patch notes, General Discussion, and the Information Portal forum before undocking, because sometimes there are bugs that will completely ruin your day. The Battle of Asakai happened because CCP screwed up and moved all those ships to Asakai by mistake, and it turned out the players secretly hated each other.
They didn't even say "gf" before they started shooting. Read the linked dev blog to see how much of a pain it was for CCP to roll back the server and reimburse all the lost ships! That's when CCP decided to shrink down the jump range of ships to only 5 ly, so another Asakai never happens again.

You can prove that you are worthy of playing EVE Online by mining your way to a PLEX in your introductory month. Even better if you can do it in the trial period. This is a great way to ensure that you understand the basic mechanics of the game, and will set you up for maximum enjoyment of all that EVE has to offer.
Always set your expectations high, and accept failure to accomplish your goals as evidence of your value as a human.
Treat every ship you buy as special. Give it a name. Treasure that ship as a symbol of your freedom, it is the only one like it in the whole game.
Don't trust anyone.

Webbing lowers top speed, if that target was in the process of aligning to warp out then webbing generally makes them warp away instantly.

Using smartbombs in your mission pocket in highsec i completely safe.
Flying a bigger ship asap is efficient enough without support skills.
Highsec is safe because Concord will protect you.
There are legit ISK doubling services in Jita.
You cannot survive lowsec alone.
There are pre-set proper ways of playing this game, you need to comply with those. |

New to Eve? Take notes, this won't come in handy! Seasoned vet? Pay attention, you just might not learn something!

Prior to warp, fire those afterburners. You'll go faster!
Dear sir,
If you use an afterburner prior warp this indeed speeds up travel time and you'll go faster in time between gate to gate provided your align time is longer than the AB cycle (such as Battleships)
