Mad Scot Amarr Viziam	Posted - 2006.11.05 14:28:00 - [1] In summary: So as a summary: I have joined a gang with no war decced players (initially) I have lost a faction battleship and mods costing between 2 and 2.5 billion isk after bing ambushed by warring alts I have NO kill rights on this player As an NPC corp member I had no way of receiving help from any players I wasnt even entitled to a CONCORD response despite being in safe space And this is all from valid in game mechanics? Taking any char. names out of it I think that sucks and is going to start some really bad in game policies, what is the point of an MMORPG if by assisting a player you are leaving yourself open to this kind of action?

It is intentional that you can be shot due to being in gangs with wardecced people. You can only even consider petitioning it if you didn't get the "dodgy ganginvite" message, because the gankers cleverly enough joined the war-alt in later and did the initial invite with a clean slate. You still lost it mostly to being stupid though. Also, at this rate lofty is actually making decent isk, what the heck.

About the only advice I can give is if you want to carebear then don't join non-carebear gangs. Period. Sure you had no idea they were war-decced... not the point. If you join a player's gang who is in a player corp there's a chance their corp is war-decced. If it's someone you don't know and trust implicitely then you are just setting yourself up to get popped. High-Sec space is not 'safe' it is 'safer' but you still have to exercize common sense and a bit of logic if you plan to be a carebear in EVE. I do feel bad for you losing so much time and effort but it really was your own fault.

If you can't be bothered to enducate yourself better about the game you've spent so much time and investment playing then you have nobody but yourself to blame when you lose that investment due to your own mistake.

Many exploits are easy to avoid if you have already thought of or encountered them before. This does not, however, make them not exploits. Of course it doesn't. Big Al The Aftermath	Posted - 2006.11.05 15:02:00 - [28] It's not an exploit, but it's pretty crappy game mechanics - no way of knowing for sure someone is in a gang unless you are also in the gang. Basically no one is going to shoot unless they are the war ganger. With the warp to 0 option showing up now I'd expect the war gang trick to be nerfed fairly shortly, welcome to world of evecraft - where carebears rule the day.
