Hi, what are the best skills to make battleships handle better and move to warp location quicker, I have evasive skill, just wondering if there is anything else I need to know?

Nanofibres help a bit, as do Inertial stabilizers. But don't expect a bship to turn on an .10 isk coin by any means.

Judicious use of an MWD can improve the handling of your battleship.

Edited by: Lily Savage on 07/11/2003 23:53:23 The two skills that affect agility, which is what makes ships handle better and accelerate/stop more quickly, are Spaceship Command and Evasive Maneuvering.
As the other replies mentioned, inertial stabilizers and nano fibres also affect your ship's agilty, but probably have no place on a battleship (and I think that the agility bonus for those modules might be bugged and not working?)

Try coming to a full stop before you warp.
Oh, and make sure you're a fair distance away from big asteroids and stations. ------------------------------------------- "My main griveance with the Caldari state was that once I had finished my work for them, they wanted me dead."

Lily, I too have questioned this but enver asked a gm since I wasn't sure. But I installed a nanofiber and a inertia on my moa and didn't notice a difference compared to without them.
Now this could equal a good thing for the speed mods that lower agility if it isn't working. Spelling corrections welcome, but don't expect me to edit my post. |

Edited by: Ana Khouri on 08/11/2003 12:35:22 Module Agility Mods are completly broken ATM. You can test it easily:
- Use several (rare) 21ms Nanofibers (which give a big agi bonus) and note the time you need until you reached a certain speed and then exchange them with (common) 21ms overdrives (which give a small agility MAULUS) and do the same thing. No matter which ship class you are using (be it indy, BS, cruiser or frig), you will need exactly the same time.
(Note, that both mods MUST have the same speed boni so you can compare them. This is because the max speed effects the accelleration as well. A megathron, for example, reaches from a total stop 90% of his max speed always after 32 seconds with my skills, no matter if the max speed is 120ms or 300ms. So, if you use mods with different speed boni, common overdrives (20ms) and nanofibers (15ms) for example, you need to compare the time the ships need to a certain speed lvl (90% of max speed, for example) and not the same speed.)
- Or, check your speed with empty low slots and then fill your low slots with internal stabs (which give a medium agi bonus and unlike overdrives or nanofibers no speed bonus)and check it again. Again, same acelleration.
Same goes for turning speed, since this is dependant on the accelleration.
I told TomB that his "fixing" of the agility mods totally broke them right after he changed them, but it seems he wouldn't bother to repeat my tests and rather go back to his pet projects.
So, atm there is NO WAY to improve the handling of any ship by mods. If you want a higher accelleration don't use anything other than overdrives (exept you cannot loose cargo space), since those give the biggest speed boni, which in turn is he only thing which can improve your accelleration right now.

I didn't know that Agi. mods were broken, darn... better take them off my ships then :(
I have a solution; use a frigate :) they turn fast enough...

One nice trick is, if you know what direction you will be warping, before engaging the autopilot/warp drive, manually turn your ship in the direction you want to go and use afterburners/MicroWarp Drives to make you turn on a .10 isk piece. ---

another way to get the job done is to slow down to a complete stop (although 10m/s works as well) at that speed, you'll mimic what happens when you jump into a system and warp again. you'll turn on a dime :)
