EVE wastes enough of my play time with the gate travelilng. I agree with the fellow that commented about warp bubbles.

You're right they do complain about anything! CCP finds part of the lag problem and attempt to fix and insta whine just add cheese. go try it on singularity before you knock it. CCP is simply modifying an in game mechanic to level the playing field for all. Now everyone has the same set of instas and no need for 80million (rough guess) seperate item id's clogging up the server. its not like they removing or changing anything in the game. anyone that goes to 0.0 does so with instas. snipers only catch the lazy ones. and i wont mention those @#$%%%^^^& with interdictors (warp bubbles).. so please let it drop. we dont need 100 threads about it and it IS a benefit to the community

Absolutely hate this change, the game becomes a smaller, less interesting place with every patch.

Living in 0.0, from my point of view it's no different at all after this patch. EVERYONE in 0.0 already has instas, thousands per character usually. 99/100 people I see insta to gates. I imagine it's a bit different in empire, but what does it matter there? The only thing this will change is the feel of the size of the universe, and if you want that feeling then don't use warp to 0km, stick with warp to 15.

Warp to 0km is bad. Warp to 5km or 7.5km is better. Use MWD if you want instas.
Warp to 0km will create a lot of problems.
Gate camps dead.
Empire wars lamer.
Interceptors not so useful at jump out.
RP story can not explain instant warp to gate.
Solo/small group piracy dead.

You're entirely correct. 99% of people in 0.0 are dependant on instas. Which is why there's vehement opposition to the idea of removing them.
Have you ever seen the discussion about how increasing the size of roads doesn't decrease traffic problems? You see, if you widen a motorway, it becomes easier to use. And thus more people use it. And people go further on it. So your net result is the same, or more congestion, after a while once the drivers have got used to it.
But you can't ever reduce the size of the road, because then you'll grind the whole thing to a halt, despite the fact that the pollution is killing all the bunny-wunnies.
I use instas, and I will use warp to 0 if it's implemented. It's just stupid not to, and automatically puts me at a _major_ disadvantage in trade, industry, logistics, combat, mission running, NPCing ... .ermmm well almost anything actually. That alone should be an indicator of the scope of the problem.
I think the problem of the database being stressed is important to deal with. The obvious solution, IMO is to delete a whole load of BMs around gates with a database transaction, and leave it at that. Maybe do it again every few months or so, so it's possible to re-make the BMs you use frequently, but you won't be maintaining full region sets for lots of regions in EVE.
However I think that 'instas' are having a negative effect on EVE game play. Consider for a moment, if we took it to an extreme, and implemented an 'instant teleporter' anywhere in EVE. OK, it's perhaps a bit far fetched, but the 'easier to travel' analogy could be stretched that far.
Say, I press a button a station, and my ship and my stuff is wherever in EVE I want them to be. Would you consider this an improvement on EVE gameplay? The market would all move into one station, gradually, because everyone would shop there. All the mission runners would be in the single best station for their faction. And alliances would fight daily over the best patch, but never be able to hold it because 'opposition' is only 30 seconds and a few isks away from being able to launch a massive attack.
But if you ever put that feature in, you'll a whole lot people whining about how stuff is pointless and boring, and a whole lot more moaning about how if you take it out they'll quit.
I think instas should go. I hope the dev team will not bow to 'make my life easier' pressure. I'm somewhat afraid that they will though.

yeah right everyone that agrees is a gate camper and anyone that doesnt agree has no brain. Constructive critism guys.
Il just do what i do anyways and leave the long journeys in empire space for over night afk and when the 0km warp in is implemented mock any fool using bubbles... infact id probably donate .01 isk to the fool still using small mobile warp disruptors (i like these)

er ... Kali is also bringing in large bubbles: http://www.eve-online.com/itemdatabase/shipequipment/deployableequipment/warpdisruptionfields/12200.asp 40k shields 60k armor 45km warp scramble range not for catching people warping to gate, for catching people who jump into system ... no change/help for 0.1 - 0.4 pierats, but it will get very interesting in 0.0 ...chokepoints will be choked with corpses |

What are you talking about, yes it can - the warp distance is determined by locking a gravitational capacitor onto a target and dispersing the bubble when the capacitor is at a particular charge level. Warp to 0km is the act of a pilot manually monitoring the charge level and dispersing at a much lower point - manually in this place meaning "through the vast array of neural nets and software in the computer the pilot comprises".
I disagree with you on other points to, but RP ones are so much more fun. --- Recently returned from vacation on a sunny planet in 0.0. Guess which one! |

Sigh, there are quite few people working with their brains here, and those that don't indeed seem on the gatecamper side.. I can imagine that staring at gate the whole night will atrophy your higher neural functions, so here it comes again:
Tons of people use instas, not only for evading gatecamps (yes, there is life besides gatestaring), but to take the bore away out of normal travel. With that in mind, removing instas and replacing them with an inbuild system is great. Now, if you want to continue camping gates, go ahead. Use an interdictor or a warp bubble. Too expensive? Work for your living then. That's boring? Yeah, so is travelling Empire without instas. Besides, why indeed not wait at the other side of the gate? O yes, that's right, you stare at gates all night. Hadn't had time to figure that out yet.

Camp the otherside in lowsec. If you can't tank gate guns you shouldn't be hunting gates anyways. If you want to snipe, you'll have to have someone that can tank the gate guns to scramble them and if you can't have that I guess you are SOL. Not to mention sniping is getting a nerf anyways...

Empire wars lamer.
At gates. Have a scout on one side, and the group of corpies on the other. One person designated tackler with sensor boosters and remote sensor boosters being fed to him galore.
At stations. Anyone could just redock anyways.
In belts. Sure they can warp to the gate at 0 from the belt, but if you have an organized group and a 'good' noob alt they won't have the chance.
Quote:
Interceptors not so useful at jump out.
Interceptors will be the preferred tackler on the other sides of gates due to quick locktime and durability. They will be VERY tough to catch though.

It can. Explained by someone below.

Solo/small group piracy dead.
How does warp to 0 change attacking someone in the belts. Like I said if you can't tank the gate guns, why would you ever follow someone to a gate/station after acquiring a global aggro? And if you CAN tank the gate guns, then camp the other side of the gate.
