Hey guys,
I'm ceo of a corp that helps noobs into the game. Most of my guys are in their trial, and in frigates.
Last night, we got warrdecced by some other high sec corp for no reason. I've heard nothing from any of the other corp, and as far as i know they are just out to cause trouble and kill some noobs.
We would appreciate any hints, tips and aid that anyone wants to give us. I had heard of newb corps getting warrdecced like this in the past, but honestly thought people were above such childish tactics.
Again, help would be appreciated. You can contact me via eve mail or PM in game.
Thanks,
Yesef Tiire.

Edited by: Taedrin on 10/11/2006 18:42:49 You have a couple of choices before you:
1) Take the war in stride, and engage your aggressors. 2) Hide 3) Disband
I'll presume that (3) is not an option.
The easiest thing to do would be to take option (2). The way you hide is by spreading your entire corp out amongst all of empire. This strategy follows the idea that if your enemy can't find you, the enemy can't kill you. And if your enemy does find one of you, the enemy hasn't found all of you. Remain like this for as long as the war dec lasts. Each week of the war costs your aggressors money, and while it's not a lot, sooner or later, your enemy will fold. Make a game out of it - how much money can you make them waste on the war dec, while not being able to find any of you?
Option (1) is considered a lot more honorable, but may not be viable since you don't have much experience. However, this can be a good thing for you. There are 2 little bits of wisdom that apply here:
- When life gives you lemons, make lemonade
- The word "crisis" is just another way to spell "opportunity"
The idea here is that you need to take this war dec, and turn it into a learning experience. Teach yourselves how to PvP. Get everyone to jump into their T1 frigs and have fun. Granted, because you are so much weaker than your opponent, you need to learn some tactics. Read up on Sun Tzu's Art of War - lots of wisdom to be found there. A few strategies to get you started:
- Choose your battles wisely. Don't attack your enemy when he is strong, attack him while he is weak. Forget honorable combat. Do everything (that doesn't involve hacking, or breaking the EULA) that is in your power to win. Example, don't take on a gang of 20 cruisers against your 20 frigates. But DO take on a gang of 1-3 cruisers against your 20 frigates.
- Be sure to share intel between corp members. If you get blown up by the enemy, tell your corp when and where it happened. Keep note of this information, as you may be able to use it to your advantage. Try to figure out when and where your enemy is active.
- Attack your enemies supply lines. If you know your enemy does missions in a certain system, learn how to probe out missions. Camp the gates in that system so that you can kill them when they have to do a mission in a neighbor system
- A mistake is only a mistake if you do not learn from it. You must gain wisdom from your own defeats. Instead of wallowing in self-pity, analyze a lost battle. Determine what it is that you could do to improve, and what you can do to win the next battle.
That's all for now...

Thanks for the replys and the advice.

This was a good move posting on the forums. You will get alot of support from some really big names, and probably smash whoever is messing with you. You might also build a good reputation depending on how you handle the situation, and become a preliminary training corp for one of these alliances that posted.

Well Taedrin wrapped up your options beutifully for you. Very nice post. Very rare to see on these forums anymore.
I suggest taking his advice to heart and treat this as an opportunity. Since most of your members are very green they do not have very much to lose. Face it T1 frigates and clones are cheap. However, fun and experience to be gained is priceless. A single frigate is a weak target, but a group of them swarming a target is lethal.
I expect that your members will have a ball and will be more inclined to renew thier accounts if they are getting a little more excitment than just dragging veldspar into a can. Point is that the players who fight together become a stronger group and will make your corp stronger to the core.
No one can hear you scream in space, so just shut up and die already. |

Exactly. With enough thought and dedication, this will be a lot of fun for your corp. I have found that while in Empire it is VERY hard to do any meaningful shooting. Your aggresors have unwittingly provided you with the means to engage in PvP in a rather controlled environment, without intervention from CONCORD. Give 'em hell for all of us here =)

Edited by: Tao Han on 10/11/2006 22:22:16 In my experience corps often become a close knit group during wartimes and fighting back will more often then not boost corp morale. Hiding is probably not the best thing to do, more of a last resort.
If you choose to fight back, never forget that you will lose some and win some, but ultimatly you will gain experience that will serve you in the future. Some of your "noobs" might turn out to be new PvP masters.

I do that one all the time, but only because i get drunk and go afk for hours at a time. Once while flying a stabber, I docked in a station in a hostile system after they tried to engage me. Came back 4 hours later and undocked and 2 of them were still camping the station. Redocked, came back 2 hours later and killed a jag that was still camping the station.
