Originally by: Ganaar The machonet download workaround helped - thanks Jinx. However, I was never able to stay connected for more than a few minutes at a time. Starting yesterday, I have other problems - like no email, no chat, no agents. Petitions are going unanswered. I may as well go play Myst.
Same problem here. Along with the acquiring bulk data problem, and constant disconnects...starting yesterday, no email, no chat, no agents, no dynamic map data (Pilots currently docked, Kills, etc). At least I can still train skills.

Originally by: Colonel Jinx Also, I hope the newer sized version worked a bit better last night.
Email, chat, and agents all appear to be operational again...but then again I reinstalled the client last night. Don't know if that fixed it or your "newer sized" machonet.
Anyway, I'd like to thank you for doing so much us to help us out.

Edited by: ChickenPox on 25/11/2006 19:16:53 I seriously doubt it's your router. Not unless all of our routers suddenly stopped working at the same time (and miraculously start working again when we have a good machonet folder). But I suppose they have to rule out other possibilities.
I was wondering if anyone else was also have the following problem, as it started at the exact same time as this "Acquiring Bulk Data" problem, and I experienced it last March when many of us were having this same issue. When I visit these forums, occassionally a page is corrupted. It's almost as if some of the HTML is missing. So, sometimes the text of message is displayed in the same table column as the authors name and picture...or sometimes in other weird places. Sometimes I see fragments of HTML. All of this is behavior you'd expect to see with corrupted/missing HTML tags. Anyone else seeing it?

Edited by: ChickenPox on 30/11/2006 03:39:02 Well, post revelation I'm still having trouble except it's slightly different. Instead of hanging on acquiring bulk data, it just pops up a messagebox after the acquiring bulk data progress bar is full that says lost connection with server(that's not an exact quote, just the gist). The machonet folder still fixes the problem though.

I was able to login with both of my accounts today WITHOUT a fresh machonet.

Originally by: Sharkbait during the "getting bulk data" thing, you are downloading the static data, it might be that you are losing data packets which i guess could make the process hang. i am looking into this issue atm
Hi Sharkbait. I don't think any of us are hanging in this stage anymore. Since the patch, I think we're all just getting disconnected after the "getting bulk data" progress bar fills up.

I guess out the solution. Buyed a new router. Eve working fine with DI-524.
You know, I might be inclined to try that if I was positive it would work. Tomorrow marks the fourth week I've been having this problem. Probably would have cancelled my subscription by now if not for Jinx. I think CCP owes him a free month or two...for doing their job for them.

Originally by: Anton Zuber They haven't even bothered to reply to my petition in over a week, they haven't offered any solutions whatsoever. they just ran through some of the routine rookie tech support questions, traceroute and the like.
They've already said they're working on it. Haven't you been reading the thread?

Originally by: Ganaar Are you having the problem that's been on-going for the past month and isn't even a new problem? I suspect not, otherwise you wouldn't be happy about paying for something only to receive nothing in return.
Yep. He was complaining that the customer service people hadn't contacted him in over a week. I pointed out that they can't really do anything until you devs fix it. Just a few pages back a developer said, "I'm working on this now". And several other people have posted replies from customer service saying the devs are working on it. That's all I'm pointing out. I'm just as annoyed about the problem as everyone else, but the fact is, you can login (if you're having the same problem we are). You just have to convince someone to send you their Machonet folder.

Gentlemen, welcome to day 35.
Enjoy it.
P.S. Sure would be nice to get some kind of status report.

I solved this problem for myself, buyed new router and now eve working fine. DI-524 is working good, and cheap.
I gave this a shot too. Replaced my Linksys BEFSR41 with a Netgear FVS114. Same behavior. Even tried bypassing the router altogether...same behavior.

Yeah, I'm getting there too. Seeing as how I haven't been able to play for (42 days ) I just don't see the point in continuing paying my two accounts. It would be cheaper just to cancel and start back up when they finally fix the problem (if ever). It's not like I'd be losing training time since I can't train right now anyway. Plus, it doesn't seem likely they'll get to it anytime soon as they're swamped with so many other problems and they're probably understaffed due to the holidays. I think that's about it for me. It was fun while it lasted.
Goodbye cruel galaxy.
