I would have to say that 70% of GoonWaffe and the alt goon corps have got to be the worst pvpers ever.
All these guys do is jump into a system, see some sort of resistence then logoff. Today alone, 15 battleships have logged off to avoid fighting.
Apparently, the GM's say this is not an exploit, as I sent a patition and they replied this was not an exploit.
Maybe not, but it should be considered as such. ------------------------------- Tactical Smack-Talker I've taken my pills today, have you? |

Thx to pos the "how good u r at pvp" is irrelevant, see bob an ascn, if it would still be station pingpong bob would already own all of ascn space and a few more regions.

And as soon as they'd be 3 jumps away people would take back the stations. Station pingpong was the suck, worse than actual PoS warfare, you couldn't control ANYTHING at all.

Dude, you just showed your lack of true large fleet experience with that statement. Have you ever fought in a system with 400+ in local? Have you ever had to jump into a system all at once with 100+ in your gang and sit there and look at your screen and hope to EVE gods that the node doesn't crash or you get popped on the other end?
The "lag" is mainly caused by too many things happening on the node at once. Yes, the client could use some 64-bit loving thats for **** sure. Nothing is more irritating than clicking someones picture and your game freezes briefly. The client isn't as smooth as it should be. But on the other hand I have a very good system. 3400+ AMD64, 1.5 gig of ram, X800 256meg and my system still lags like crazy when you jump into a system with your 100+ gang.

What I put on ships isn't the issue. All that I do is completely within the mechanics of the game and put in for pilots to do. It has nothing to to with computers, lag, home system or alliance, it has to do with Goons jumping into a system seeing a ship and logging to avoid destruction or fighing. This is not something that was put into the game. It is an exploit of the game and should be considered as such. But I can see that everyone wants to make this about something else. So if the MOD can just lock this thread, becuase it's already way off topic. Thank you.

Anyway, I have to agree, 9/10 of goons in battleships/battlecruisers I've seen who have jumped through a gate when I've been in something which can potentially catch and kill them have just logged off. Lame.
To even it a bit, I bet there's people who do the logoffski from cloak thing in LV/V too, but the magnitude which goons do it is just almost impressive. I've seen even t1 frigs do it.

Tbh, the goon logoff tactics are getting less and less effective as more of their members simply pass on the intel to all of us. We don't even need spies anymore, actual goons are so ****ed off with the constant exploits & their leadership etc that they are doing it for us.

It would seem to me that this is another attempt to discredit the goons and bring them and their allies, RA, into disrepute. Looking at the COAD subforum there are no less than four threads about goons on the front page alone. They seem to be posted either in an attempt to discredit GS and RA (Goon logoff tactics, GOON espionage tactics) or as to scare the public in general (more specifically BoB) into acting against them (Goons in Dreads - Whatever Next ???, Goonswarm taking it seriously?). Your attempts at discrediting GS and RA and at galvanizing other alliances into acting against them seems to have failed, yet you continue to start these threads.
Sorry for taking the thread off topic. Now, onto the subject of this particular thread.

Shouldn't this be the end of the matter? What will posting a thread about it achieve, other than cementing the bad reputation the SOCO has for complaining on the forums when things don't go their way?
And, on one final note, I am not a goon alt or goon fanboy, I am only calling the situation as I see it.
If you have a grievance against them, why not just take it in game? This is not a flame, merely a question.

The way I see it is that its less of a concerted effort at discrediting them than a simple case of individuals having reached their saturation point when it comes to observing lameness in action.
There has certainly not been any official push for us to go onto the forums to air our grieviances. Contrary to popular belief not everybody sits glued to the forums watching every thread every day. Nor do we sit there on teamspeak discussing it every day either.
So in short, many individual pilots, who are otherwise largely (forum politically) unaware, have been suffering frustration at the serious lack of will to engage.
They then come on here and let us know how they feel. The regular forums Ho's then jump onto the band wagon.
Frankly I am grateful to Goonfleet. I am grateful for them having brought in other corps/alliances to do their fighting for them. Much respect to TCF and Imperium, you guys are a ray of light in what must go down in eve history as one of the most boring fights of all time, thanks for continuing to bring it and thanks for the great fights so far. That near carrier gank on friday night was an absolute beauty. Its great that we dont have to keep travelling all the way to enemy territory only to have them log on us when we reach the destination system. If only your evil overlords had half the fighting spirit you have shown us so far. The general consensus the other night was that having TCF conveniently nearby was actually a blessing in disguise. I look forward to more FUN fights with you all.

they took a stationn, but for that u dont need to be good at pvp. U just run in there with enough ppl and the few that are still stuck in the system are gettin ownd by a med bubble at the undock spot, not to mention that 300 ppl cause a bit of lack. So u run in there, bubble all entries and let ur dreads do the rest of the work. Normaly u face no resitance as soon as u have 250ppl+ in there, cause it would be suicide to jump in there. At a certain points its just no option to jump in there. So u r now in, kill pos, anchor ur own, take station and ur good to go. About the pingpong, well it was not that great, but it was more "how good are u at pvp" cause normaly u went their, won 3 fleetfights and then the enemie disapears. Then u could takeover the station, these days, that the time when u sit at a force field for 4 or more hours and wait that something happens. Normaly it doenst so u just logoff and go play something else. The lack of fighting is caused by pos and they current game mechanics, and when u r just there to takeover the station ur not intstred in fighting all that matter the name is the top left corner.

As to RA and Goons... well done for the station and make sure you keep it ingame and not force people's hands.

loggoff in space = 30min timer ALWAYS befor your ship disappear second time loggoff in space at the same day will set the time each loggoff 30mins or what ever higher etc.
ok u are still able for loggontraps but only if u bring them on a high range spot that other ppl or scouter cant see them in scanner, so they need time to get to the position where they want.
loggoff in a pos = 1min timer if u not have a agro timer if u have 30min
stabs change will come with khali and god bless ccp for that change.
what ever i think ccp will bring a feature for the logg off logg on mega crap.
but for me its enough to lose the honor if u working on that way, that is why i dont like RED ALLIANCE and GOONS.
biggest noob tactic ever.
I dont want to say that all ra are noobs cause this but is it not a shame to work like this and then posting a movie where u see how they kill a capital fleet but u dont see that they didnt use loggon trap to get em?
ra doing it like this..
but they still talking about honor lol
u guys are a shame for the old CA !

Hmmm, logging off in space takes 30mins , its way crazy. When considering something like this , it first must be though of the RL issues u come across , and the number of times people lose their , jsut becoz something in RL had come up and they had to log off , and it wud take 30mins and the next thing they know their hard earned isks are blown to pieces. I am just talking about the possibilites in low sec , space itself , even rats cud blow up a battleships just like that . Evetually it just puts in pressure on your RL, to make sure that ur docked and blah blah everytime it will slow the process of the game down drastically and people will evetually quit if such 30mins thingy is ever put up. If people are pretty much trying to waste their time , i still think 30mins loggin off in space ...its just way out of line Anyways , i have no comments on the The Coalition Vs RA/GS I am just a neutral LEGION FEDERATION "We beleive in Vigilence ,Federalism and Freedom" President Of The Council and Fleet Admiral: Admiral RemusVI |

Hell, loads of people log off...there's no point moaning about it...I even saw some BoB log off yesterday so there's no point singling one particular group from another.
It happens it's a shame because nobody should be so afraid of losing a ship that they have to do it, they are only ships. There will always be another one for sale somewhere unless you pvp in a Guardian Vexor or something...

If people are pretty much trying to waste their time , i still think 30mins loggin off in space ...its just way out of line Anyways , i have no comments on the The Coalition Vs RA/GS I am just a neutral
Imho they only need to fix the situations: gate, bubble, belt, mid-warp. Nobody needs to log there fast and disappear from space because of RL. People could move to a safe or planet for that. That together with the scanner changes and the local changes that are to supposed to come, scanner already soon, would fix a lot. Usually people really log at gates, in belts, in bubbles or sometimes mid-warp to escape and there is really no RL reason, why you need to be able to do it there and can't do it 30 seconds later somewhere else.
And this broken game-mechanics annoys me in general, it isn't only goons and ra, it's the majority of people you attack. Some days ago my 2 mates and me attacked a Raven of a non-ra/goon etc. guy and he logged in his belt. Sometime later he was back and logged again. Then we met him in another system and he logged again. Finaly we waited for him on his route home, I suppose, when he expected that we were gone and then he died. 2 hours too late or so.
Really hoping that CCP fixes it, no matter of this war. This crap becomes more and more common. Especially in interdictor bubbles at gates. Everyone knows that it's not supposed to work this way, so time for CCP to correct that game-mechanics. It's killing unconsentual pvp in EVE. How are you supposed to cause damage, if the other guy just logs ?

Thx to pos the "how good u r at pvp" is irrelevant, see bob an ascn, if it would still be station pingpong bob would already own all of ascn space and a few more regions.
have or havent they taken 1 station? if you lose a station to the worst pvpers ingame something must be wrong aye? what does the last bit mean? you think ascn are the worse?
Ok, this needs to be cleared up once and for all.
I know every where you turn, some -V- guy says "We didn't want JLO" or whatever and it sounds really lame. After that, some guy always replies with "LOLERSKATES, YOU LOST JLO, NOOBS, ROFLCOPTERS!" or whatever, and it sounds even lamer.
This is the truth:
We would have preferred that JLO not be taken over. Yes, we lost it. We couldn't field the manpower to stop RA/Goon from taking it.
HOWEVER - You have to realize that JLO held very little strategic ground for us. Scalding Pass used to have stations in 1v-, 28Y, and JLO. 1v- and 28Y are factory stations, and JLO is a refinery.
A couple of months ago, though, we put up outposts in KZFV-4 and RYC-19. Both of them are the minmitar refinery outposts. Since these are in place, there is no need to load up a freighter full of refining craploot and ore and jump the 11 jumps from 28Y to JLO, and back again. KZF is one jump from 28Y, and that's where we do the majority of our refining. Having 2 refineries and 2 factories within 6 jumps of each other means that all of our production is much more localized.
Since the outposts were built, almost no one has lived in JLO. It was always closer to RA space anyway, and if we were to lose a station, JLO is by far the least useful one we owned.
All our other station systems consistantly have folks who actually live there - not to mention where possible* 100% POS coverage on the moons. Additionally, if I were RA or goon, JLO is the station I would have taken, as it would have been the easiest to take. It makes sense for them from a strategic perspective to take JLO, just as it makes sense for us to let it go. We would have probably wasted a lot of resources keeping it, and trying to keep everything fueled, all the strontium full, and fending off attackers. We would much rather use the firepower to keep the WQZ8-4 constellation, which contains 2 refineries, a factory, a 10/10 complex, and an ice field.
Veritas is far from dead, forum smack aside.

Uhm, nobody believes me.
I've said that JLO was supposed to get a new owner anyway (for the reasons you mentioned) Then a mistake happened and RAGoons made use of it, put up their towers and heavily camped the system. We didn't have the means to correct it anymore or trying to correct it would have been extremely difficult. I'm quite sure that RAGoons knew it, like many people knew it.
Just the outsider not, how comes up with a story like -V- cries, is doomed, whatever.
So uhm, won't comment some posts about V's misery again in the future, that's what I've learned, even if I think they are far from reality. Would have been much cooler anyway to be seen a dead alliance for weeks and then see people asking on the forums, if the rumors are true that we still live.

Nice post. Well argued.
Few cynical comments from other side of frontline. - ice field is empty for the last couple of months - 10/10 controlled by RA - refineries lost cause for their existance since all carebears run from the area and many pilots including me keeping belts clear from V guys trying to raise some funds in that constellation.
So maybe -V- will be able to keep sovereignity over that constellation but barely be able to live in it. Plus i see great problems in -V-'s logistics and this eventually can lead to KOS' fate with Q-GQ (i'm not insisting this gonna happen though).

I agree with some (most?) of what you're saying... The ice field has been empty for a while, becuase most of -V- have beaten their ploughshares to swords. Ice miners are relatively rare anyway, and that system is sort of on the outskirts of -V- space (it has 2 gates, one leading to RYC which has a Goon presence, and the other leading to Insmother territory, which has been RA territory for quite a while).
The complex, though, is run constantly by the 4 guys from Xenofungus, which are ex-RA, and which RA shoot on sight. They now pay us to use the complex, which is more than we ever got from RA. We are NAP'd to them.
And we still are mining and ratting to keep our war machine going in Scalding Pass. I have been NPCing most of the day today (which is why i'm reading the forums, wouldn't ya know it) near the hotspots and have not seen any hostiles. It's a little harder now, and we watch local a little closer, but we are still able to do what needs to be done.
Also, an option that I have heard discussed on the eve-o forums is to purchase items in empire which compress minerals well and make the occasional carrier or freighter run down from empire with a hull full of something (I think I head someone say passive targeters work well), recycle them, and take the minerals. I don't think we're doing that, but it's an interesting option =).
-V- is still going strong. Plus, if we went away, who would you pew pew?

That's incredibly assinine to compare using stabs and cloaking to logoff tactics. They are an item in the game made for that purpose and you sacrifice a slot to use them. That's like saying using a Raven is an exploit or dishonorable or skill-less because they are the EZmode battleship. If someone doesn't want to engage a bigger better ship, its just smart to warp or cloak.
The logoffski is just another non-illegal exploit. If CCP changes it, there will always be some other. That's the nature of pvp games, everyone needs an advantage.

JLO was lost because at the time -V- was handing it over to OPUS because they had no use for it. After they took the system we spent the next few days killing any and all goons that dared show their faces. But the system wasn't needed By -V- so we left them to it. Now we know where to find them when we get bored and need to something to shoot.

STOP LOGGING IN GB- ******** STAY LOGGED OFF LIKE THE STICKY THREAD TELLS YOU TO JESUS CHRIST WHAT PART OF LOGIN TRAP DO YOU THINK MEANS LOG IN AND GET HOSED ONE AT A TIME **** GOONS
ALSO STOP TRYING TO INDIVIDUALLY JUMP INTO GB- LIKE THIS HERE STICKY THREAD SPECIFICALLY FORBIDS YOU TO DO BECAUSE SHOCKINGLY ENOUGH IT IS CAMPED AND SHOCKINGLY ENOUGH YOU WILL DIE
READ AND OBEY
This morning, LV dreadnaughts dared to show their faces for the first time in months. 25 of them, in fact. They put a RA deathstar in GB- into reinforced, and it will come out at precisely 10:30 EST/3:30 Evetime, smack in the middle of Goon Prime. There will be an epic fight as we do our ****dest to destroy their capital fleet. We need everyone ready to go a couple of hours before this in order to organize and integrate our forces.
For Friday night's op, we want everyone logged off at the 2-1 POS in GB- long before the POS there comes out of reinforced.
THE OP ITSELF WILL NOT BEGIN UNTIL 2:00 EVETIME BUT YOU MUST BE LOGGED OFF AT THE 2-1 RA POS LOOOOOOOOOOOONG BEFORE IT BEGINS
REMAIN LOGGED OFF IN GB-, IDLE IN THE "GB- GOONS" TS CHANNEL AND AWAIT ORDERS
THERE WILL BE SMALL HOSTILE CAMPS TO LARGE HOSTILE CAMPS ON THE GATES INTO GB-, MAKE SURE TO GO INTO THE SYSTEM WITH GANGS OF GOONS WHEN THEIR DEFENSES ARE WEAKEST (LATE TONIGHT AFTER THE OPS) OR WITH A SCOUT AND A LARGE GANG OF YOUR OWN, IF YOU GO IN INDIVIDUALLY YOU /WILL/ DIE HORRIBLY
This will either melt the node or melt LV, or both. If the node goes down mid-POS siege, their dread fleet and support fleet are totally ******. If we trap them, they are totally utterly ******. No matter what, as long as we get goons into this system and logged off, they are hosed.

Edited by: Drusus Rensus on 14/11/2006 22:05:40 There's an old story about George Bernard Shaw sitting in a bar and propositioning a pretty young woman to go to bed with him for 1,000,000 pounds. Initially she objected, but then the temptation was just too much and she agreed. Shaw said fine, let me pay the bar tab, I'll give you your 20 quid, and we'll go. Of course the young woman was agast and asked if he thought she was just some cheap prostitute. Shaw replied that what she was had already been established, now they were just negotiating price.
What's your price to logoffski? Frigate? BS? HAC? Hauler full of Zydine? Freighter with an outpost in it? Titan? For every complaint about logging off that I've seen on these forums, there is almost always someone who points out that the complainer's corp has done the same in the past. More than anything else, it's probably just a matter of price.
In most other MMOs that I've played there was a log-off timer, and you couldn't log off at all once you were engaged in combat and your enemy kept hitting you. This would be trivial for CCP to implement. The fact that they haven't probably suggests that their read on their player base suggests to them that removing the ability to CTRL-Q out of a fight would be far more unpopular than popular.

If the op does fit loads of stabs and use cloaks as described then that is a lot lamer than logging off when you encounter greater opposition.

Simple answer: They cause a heavy load on the node the system it happens in is on.
If it happens right in front of a POS then the lag gets intensified even more, often enough to crash the node and that spells a world of hurt to a seiged dreadnought(Pilot crashes out ship stays in space unable to defend itself). Also, sitting on teamspeak for hours at a time waiting to get the order to all log in at once somehow strikes me as not being the way the game was meant to be played.

Wow, this thread still lives, but I disagree. Logging off after jumping through a gate and using tricks to disappear fast from space or logging off to escape out of a bubble is just cheating/exploiting. It's just difficult to prove that someone did it, so CCP doesn't handle it as such.
Although I usually don't fit WCS on combat ships, they are part of the game and meant to avoid getting locked down. Like recons are meant to cloak and do stuff like sneaking into enemy territory and kill people, who don't expect it. For me that's part of the game.
Logging off was never meant to be a ligit tactics to escape and hopefully CCP will correct that. They surely won't forbid us to attack clueless targets. We fight strategic wars and stopping your enemy ratting, mining and killing his indis that move supplies in and loot out is part of this. If the pressure gets high and alliance carebears leave or sponsored corp leave and the alliance loses income, then that's also ligit pvp. That's what RA/Goons do to us and we to them.
All meant to be part of the game, logging to avoid destruction is not. E.g. it doesn't have to be fair 10 vs 10. Ok 10 vs. 10 is more fun than having no chance at all, but I take it how it comes. If it's a nice fight, good, if not then ok, no reason to complain, this is a tactical and strategical survival game. Have to deal with it or leave that space.

You guys realize that not every action against you is done specifically to create lag/crash the servers? Hmm, actually, I shouldn't say "you guys", because it's hardly unique to the Southern Coalition. (Personally I believe that most all accusations of such exploits are ultimately untrue, people just refuse to admit that they could lose to anything but outright cheating. A pity CCP can't resolve the server situation in any sort of reasonable timeframe.)

Clarification? I'll give you clarification.
Team Lame pre-positions a large group of ships near to their POS. All players are in touch with one another over teamspeak. Then are then ordered to log off. Perhaps they leave a cloaked ship behind as a scout or simply leave someone inside the POS shields to provide intel. Then they sit there waiting/picking their noses/playing counterstrike/engaging in any activity except being logged in on that character.
When the enemy dread pack arrives and goes into seige mode the scout lets them know. They stop picking their noses/scabs/nits and then, when the fleet commander orders it, they all log in at the same time. Their ships all arrive in the same spot they logged off in. The state of EVE being what it is at the moment, this action is often all that is needed to push an already straining server node right over the edge. At the very least it generates a massive amount of lag, enabling the said lamers to possible kill a few if not all dreadnoughts.
Is that clear? Or do you need me to draw you a schematic? And if you dont understand that this is not playing the game the way it was meant to be played please seek professional help as soon as possible.

Let's try a more likely scenario...
I have been witness to some interesting tactics in 0.0 space during my time out there. One I remember well (lost a BS because of it) was a large force jumped in precisely timed together. At first I saw a few show up on the gate, I tried to get a target lock. Info on TS was the enemy force was about 50-60 and we were something like 20-40 strong at the moment they jumped. I saw 10. No modules worked. I tried to warp off: nothing.
This was back in the day where the node didn't crash as much. I'm not sure what they did but I'm guessing this is common tactic, whatever it was. Whenever I see this effect now, I log. You betcha. If I can't defend myself I'm sure as hell not going to just take it in the chin.
I imagine that this is worse now and actually crashing nodes. The information I have been getting from my friends still fighting in 0.0 is that the Euro's who are closer to the servers seem to have an advantage and can log back in faster and more reliably then the Ausies and the guys in the States. I'm from the US and so are my friends and they tell me when this happens they just get picked off one by one as they try to log back in.
My guess is after getting burned like this often enough they are making **** sure that they log in together and not getting knocked off the node and picked off later. There is also (from what my friends tell me) a problem with getting their enemies to fight unless they have an overwhelming advantage. Thus, I can see how this tactic developed over time to its current state.
In my opinion due to the state of the current servers I see no problem with this. ItĘs called an ambush. Deal with it.
To the OP: I heard they finally figured out how to nail your ass so that you wouldn't run from the slightest smell of a possible defeat. It's really too bad I can't post killmails here.
