To all alliance leaders:
From issue #6 EON magazine will feature profiles of the various alliances in EVE. They will be similar to the 'In Character' profiles we currently publish on specific game characters, but of course they will profile entire alliances, offering short histories, short bios of the movers and shakers in that alliance, a nice big logo (if you have one) and some other stuff that I haven't thought of yet.
We will feature 2 alliance profiles each issue (@ 2 pages each), so in order to be among the first pair up for publication I will require an email from your CEO/leader (or alt/main thereof) as soon as possible, telling me you're available for interview right away. Interviews will be conducted on a first-come first-serve basis and they can be done via email, TS, Skype, in-game or whatever method suits you. I'll need a decent-sized alliance logo, access to your space (to take screenshots - or you can take these yourself), and a willingness to have a bit of fun.
These profiles won't be considered as EVE canon, they will be a way for you to pimp your alliance in the same way that 'In Characters' are profiled (ie role-played). However, as these are somewhat new to the magazine, I'm open to any ideas that people may have -- and of course I look forward to hearing from some of you (high-ranking types)
Email me at [email protected].
Thanks

Would famous or infamous corporations be considered or is this just limited to alliances, no ifs, ands or buts about it? ___________________

It doesn't matter how famous, but they have to be alliances and they have to have to be of a decent size - more than a couple hundred members, at least (although I'm open to negotiation).

Is this restricted to territory-holding alliances or does it extend to Empire-based alliances / 0.0 pirate alliances, also?

I would suggest reserving one of the two spots for "historical" profiles, who might not be around anymore, but who never the less have shaped the game (or open up a 3rd spot)
The young needs to know, you know!
Alliances like CFS, SA, Curse, Xetix, NORAD, FA etc

Thanks guys. We've had lots of responses but two alliances were in touch before I even think the OP was made. Both have since been so busy answering my qusetions that I fear they may be sacked from RL jobs. To those that've not been so lucky this time around, please bug me again after Xmas and we'll see about getting you in the next issue (#007).
Cheers

Good idea. I'm also thinking a whole mag (or rather a supplement) filled with alliance profiles would be a good thing. I'm not sure the head cheeses at MMM would like the idea though EON magazine - MMM Publishing - Stargamer.net |

I suggest you make an exception for Otherworld Empire, seeing how it's exceptional and a vital part of the EVE community. Well, unless you made a character profile of Chribba, that I missed, which would be essentially the same thing seing how Otherworld only has one member (one true member, that is). - EVE is sick. |

No.. bad idea IMO. The ex-CFS ppl are gonna say booo FA/FIX back stabbed us, you coward tactics won you a war, while FA/FIX gonna say CFS sucked so it had to die.. etc...
Same for SA, who gonna claim they didnt lost vs SE but simply disbanded, and FA.. well they are still alive didnt you hear?
Too many inaccuracies, so instead of dissapointing one of the sides we better have current alliances represented rather than rewriting the history.

Hi Zap,
On behalf of Seleene and the MC, I'd like to ask for an exception to policy. We're not more than a couple hundred members, but we feel we make a significant contribution to gameplay and would consider it an honor to be in EON.
Thanks!

Well... In my opinion that's excactly what makes it interesting. There is no "One Truth" - It will always depend on the side telling the story.

You honestly think that current alliances will be any different - lol.
Try asking BoB how the war against ASCN is going. Then try ask ASCN how the war against BoB is going

Edited by: Smagd on 21/11/2006 14:35:28 Amazingly, some of the most amusing (if probably not most accurate) alliance profiling can currently be found in INNOMINATE NIGHTMAREs thread, since he likes to bug them about their history and manages to take down their guard every once in a while.
If only it would be possible to get candid views like that from a magazine, but huh, I'd settle for stuff like the character portraits gladly. They're good enough fun.
Most likely to say: We took over an ASCN Outpost. Least likely to say: We lost the war, we're regrouping in WoW.

Are some special corps apt for this? I mean, corps like PIE have had a strong influence in the cluster, they even participated in the creation of CVA (IIRC) but are no longer members.
And I subscribe the idea on profiles also for what's past. Those of us who are new to the game find too often impossible to discover what is really going on because we lack the knowledge of what has happened before. --------------------- Signature removed due to incorrect size (400X120px and 24000 bytes). Forget about alliances you have to do a story about Jim Lovell from IAC. He has to be the funniest guy in eve and people who don't know him probably wouldn't believe half the crazy things he does. Im still unsure if he is a real character or an NPC made by CCP just to bring some fun in to the world of eve.
