Something strange happened and maybe you can help me find the logic in it:
I was in Amarr system (1.0) and heading to Ashab (0.9). I was in my Sigil moving at sub-light towards the stargate which was 12km away.
About the same distance from the gate there was a pilot with -1.2 status and a 500k bounty on his head.
Out of nowhere he started locking me. I watched as the lock established. What he did next shocked me - He fired!
He fired a gun at me from his Raven BB in 1.0 space at a newb next to a stargate.
Then I thought my graphics froze and all these thick bright yellow lines radiated out of him. They pulsed again within a second and the Raven's shields went down and he was quickly vaporized by CONCORD.
I was then able to loot the cargo container he left and came out with over 2 million in ship hardware (Cruise launchers, target painters, etc).
I do not have a bio. I do not have an offensive ship name. I have been a part of the initial academy for 12 days and never joined a corp. At the time my Sigil was transporting about 600 marines.
So I ask you - Where is the logic in throwing away a Raven for nothing? What could possibly motivate someone to do something so seemingly stupid?
It boggled my mind.

The person in a raven is obviously an idiot.
He either thought he could tank the guns... or he didn't know about being Concordokened.

He probably was suiciding ganking for isk and his finger slipped on the overview, targetted you instead. Karma I guess.

Ravens are good for ratting in 0.0 and thats about it, well unless you're a carebear I suppose.. (wouldn't know) Suicide ganks are better in Geddons, those are fun. As for the other guy, well dang, thats messed up. I could see maybe tanking the gate guns and concord for a few secs on top of a gate that jumps into lowsec, but thats about it. Dude is either a complete moron or maybe lookin for an insurance payout.

No no, he's a Raven pilot with GUNS fitted.

Yeah, I won't tell you about the time I took my Mega full of SBombs into 1.0 and found a few haulers in the belts...
