The thread on it was funny, most people saying they voted Eve for overall and PVP (and a little less for graphics) and then a select few whining eve would take it again.

They need to add a couple categories, Most Anticipated MMO Expansion and Best MMO Expansion... it'll liven things up a bit for years when things are slow, like this past year. There are just as many expansions coming out every year as new games, and some of them improve existing games quite a bit. Hmmmm, and maybe a category for Most Improved MMO? ---------------

Oh shush, world of warcraft is designed NOT to be a grind, it practically throws rewards at you so fast that they aren't worth anything. The reason I think Runescape is good is that things take a lot of consistent effort to get anywhere, which means that actually getting there is worth something. Achievements are real achievements, just like making 100 billion isk in eve would be an achievement. It's the extreme of the two poles seen in the fantasy MMO business. Do you let players progress through the game very quickly to keep people with short attention spans playing and to show everyone all of the content or do you make levels hard to achieve so that it's a real achievement to get them and so that people would have to play for a very long time to try all of the content. Would you play Eve if you could get into a dreadnought within a week? Runescape was great back when I used to play it because for me it was a market simulator. Buying and selling stuff, making deals, proper trading that I've only seen in one MMO since that - Eve. And while eve is the best MMO I've ever played, Runescape is the best fantasy MMO I've played. Even in terms of financial success, you can clearly see how Jagex's business model is incredibly robust and enduring. Their hundreds of servers must pay for themselves ten times over. Besides, yesterday I followed some guy in runescape for two hours straight saying "glug glug glug" and telling him I was drinking him. Man, it was funny to see how worked up he got. I didn't say that the readers choice voting begun. ATM it's the nomination process that precedes the vote itself. So that Frontside news is somehow misleading stating that "Reader's Choice voting underway at MMORPG.com". Maybe this should be clarified? We're at step 1 at the moment. Step 2 is the actual awards ;) Cya PS: I'm feel honored about sticky, replies of DS and kieron etc anyway g Go Eve!

But, it is not as great as many would think when several of its core mechanics (pvp, trading and traveling to name a few) is severely underdeveloped as much of it hasn't really changed since EVE went live back in 2003.
