This is weird: If u have rigs on your ships and want to move them to another location and don't want to make jumps with every single ship, u will load them into a freigher. But, if you want to use a freighter u have to repack your ships that u want to move. And by doing that u will destroy the rigs on your ships... This is almost a moment-22.
I'm a mission runner and make missions at several location seperated by several jumps. I always use a BS, Covetor, Indy for looting and a fast little inty for fast travelling. Instead of jumping forth and back with every single ship I use a freighter to move them AND save time. This will be impossible in the future and I wonder if CCP have thought abot this...

Then don't rig your ships. You're already constantly voiding their insurance like that.

Seems rigs works like insurances.. If you repackage a ship, you lose the incurance. So it works with rigs.
No problem here, just how it works.

You can transport ships unpackaged IIRC
They just take a lot more cargo space that way.

or you could have more than one ship at each location setup with rigs to make it the best at tanking the common damage at each location.
That way you only need to fly the loot collecting ship everywhere. Dont forget that the chances look good for Warp to 0 so travel wont be such a big problem BUT I guess you are already using bookmarks seeing as you have a frieghter ----

No. You can't. Even if it in theory could fit, you are told to repack it before putting it in.

If this is the case i suggest you get out and enjoy the more fun aspects of eve a bit more, like, you know, pew pew at other people, it can be fun! honest. People who say 'ive never lost a ship' are clearly missing out on something big.

Perhaps you should do just that. It's not for you to decide how the game is supposed to be played, or what is fun or not.
Insurance is the most lame thing ingame, if you're not capable of funding you "fun", you shouldn't be having fun in the first place, or you're not very good at having fun.
That's just how it is. Try to have fun for a while without relying on some lame game mechanics to cover your loss.

Hmmm, i got quoted but i dont think i mentioned insurance anywhere in my post, I was comenting on something entirely unrelated (see sig for details)
But for the record, I too would like insurance to be removed.
I do however think we should be able to put unpackaged ships in freighters... unpackaged takes up more room, so there would already be a built in penalty. ----------------------------------- Please note that my response to this thread is probably a result of boredom, and its very likely that i dont care, but am posting in an attempt to wind someone up |

Carriers have a 500,000m¦ ship maintainence array, so can take any assembled ships smaller than that. Battlecruisers and industrials are the largest that will fit - no battleships. Motherships have 2,500,000m¦ space, and are able to move assembled battleships as well as anything smaller.
The only ships that can't fit in another are capitals/freighters, but there's no change there anyway.

Edited by: Amarria Lightwielder on 23/11/2006 16:24:02 Well that sucks tbh. Alot of corps move around alot, like mercs or alliances on the warpath. People don't wanna fly 40 battleships from one side of the galaxy to another so they use a freighter, and for a large corp carriers can be to little capacity when it comes to larger ships. Is it not posible to make repackaged ships with rigs into an unique object that is a normal repackaged ship, but with the rigs still inside. And if you wanted to get a normal ship they could ask you if you wanted the rigs to be deleted or not when repackaging. And for people who use this tactic now, insurance is just bs. I havn't used insurance for my 3 years in eve, and I've saved money doing so. edit: I condone the unpackaged ships in freighters aswell

To be perfectly honest this is a show stopper for combat characters. And especially mercenary corporations unless rigs are very very cheap to manufacture which i doubt they will be.
As a merc corp, we move into a contract area/combat zone with 6-7 freighters containing everyones ships and modules. Due to nature of our play style, having 1 ship only is not an alternative and next contract are can be as far as 60 jumps or even more.
Carriers with their limited hangar capacity is not an option at all, although we have about 15 of them, all of those do not match a single freighter and it gets worst considering ships have to be assembled to go into a freighter.
I know some wise a$$ is gonna say get motherships but at the price of 30 billion each and not much more hangar capacity that is not an option.
This needs to be fixed and a very serious design flaw considering how you made this game previously.

Have to say that I agree with this if only because of the 'moving home' thing, it was a total PITA before freigters and now you are exluded from a new feature if you are mobile.

Uhhh no? Most if not all missions are deadspace now and carriers cant use acceleration gates.
