I'm curious why the turret slots were removed. I realize it's primarily a missle boat but having a couple slots for rails works nicely against Frigates.
Comparing to the Ferox which is a railboat, it still has it's launcher slots.
I haven't tried to fit a Drake yet (lost it after they re-imaged the test server) but with it's small grid and CPU it's going to be tough to fit 7 launchers and have much room left for other mods.
In the Dev. Blog, Tuxford said they were considering bringing back the ROF bonus (which they didn't) but this change was quite a surprise. Not sure I like it TBH.
Edit:
Aside from the Kestrel and Cerberus, it appears to be the only other Caldari combat ship that can't fit a turret. Even the Raven has an option yet it's a missle platform.

because they had no time to fix the graphic bug i suppose, and at the same time they could please the ppl wanting more power on it by giving back the 7th launcher (instead of ROF, as most wanted).
and for the fitting: dont worry it works.

With AWU4 and eng/elec L5 you can fit a full rack of T2 HAMs and still have some leftover for a barely decent passive shieldtank. Worst case scenario, you might need a fitting mod or two for a NICE tank too. What more can you ask from this ship ? _____ -sig-

Thanks, I figured there was a fitting that would work. I just couldn't picture it and as I mentioned I lost my Drake on the last refresh.

Anyway, so now what to put in that 8th high slot? NOS are useless on Rats, I've heard Tractor Beams don't work on cans anymore... any suggestions?

Cloaking devices (for PVP)? Smartbombs (for anti-drone/gallente/sansha missions/ratting? Remote Shield Repairers? (just kidding) fit a NOS anyway, for accidental PVP?

I actually started playing with some high slot modules on my Caracal after I made the original post.
Unfortunately it seems that rats don't orbit close enough for a smartbomb if you have one equipped (there was a thread about this around May, 2006).
NOS - I suppose but the only accidental PvP I get into gets me killed because I'm running a PvE setup.
So perhaps a cloak or as you said a remote armor repper (hey, my drones could use some help now and then).
Just seems unfortunate to have a "wasted" slot on a ship at the Drake's level.

Gang mod is pretty useless to the solo-mission running-carebear (me) though. I don't plan on even training any of the required skills.
Would be nice to have that slot take a turret -OR- a gang mod if you so desire.

No, I'm not serious. However there's a new mining ship for caldari. The Rohk will be great at it.
Tractors don't work on cans, but don't panic. There are no cans. There's wrecks. And they can be tractored.
Last highslot: Gang assist. Cloak. Tractor. Salvage mod. Smartbomb. Nos.

Drone Link Augmentor! feh.. a pack of Hobgoblin II's will tear up your frigate problems way better than a single rail.

I'd like to ask that it loses the resists and gains ROF so that it ganks and can't tank quite so uberly?

Gang up with another mission runner in the system, then you both do missions better.

Yep we got our 7th launcher back.. too bad no one wanted it back! We all wanted a PVP ship (ROF bonus), now with the 7th launcher it's the world best Level 3 runner.

Actually, myself and others wanted the 7th launcher AND the ROF back.
However we couldn't have cared less about the resists bonus. Personally I find the idea of a tanking bonus on a 'gank' ship to be pretty silly.
This goes for the Myrmidon's repping bonus as well.
Other ships have had ROF + DMG bonuses, give that the the Drake(even if it's only +kinetic dmg).
