Please CCP tell me how is invention suposed to work?
A caracal bp needs 8 starship and 8 mechanical engineering datacores for invention, my mechanichal engineering lvl 4 agent gives me 36 rp's per day, witch I can double if I do missions.
Now ME datacores sell at 500 rp's each, that's 108 days of accumulating rp's, with the best of luck I can try invent in every 60 to 100 days. So in one year I can try invent a single bpc (cos no way you can try it with diferent bps) a total of 3, yes 3 times. AND IT MIGHT NOT WORK, COS IT'S A CHANCE BASED THING
IS THIS A JOKE? For 2 years that I'm hoping CCP will fix r&d, I wasn't expecting much with tis invention deal, but I wasn't thinking it wasn't this bad.

I totaly agree. I think the way it's set up is so messed up. It's not even worth attempting it. they need to either do 3 things 1) increase the amount of rp you get per day by like 200%. 2) decrease the rp cost of the datacores. 3) seed the datacores on the market. Only way to make invention work.

Datacores are available in pretty solid amounts from certain exploration content.

Rubbish. It's just not a solo industry.
There's what, 100k+ accounts in EVE. If _all_ of them generate 20 rps/day (getting standings to use a L2 agent is pretty easy) then that's a whole lot of datacores.
If they're worth a newbie training up to get a couple of mill every month or two, then it'll happen.
Or, perhaps pool them with your corpmates? I've got a corp of 30 people, pretty much all of whom have R&D agents in some shape or form...
I think this is a brilliant move - more economy is great.

No, it was conceived to break that T2 cartels, and allow newer players into the T2 economy. It was intended to provide a less moronic way of distributing T2 than a lottery, which meant that people who actually wanted to 'do research' could, and it would make a difference.
This in no way precludes them buying the materials needed, producing and reselling the product to cover costs.

Lets just hope datacores are available from other sources then agents.
And that people are smart about what they do with them.
I certainly wouldn't sell them.

I most certainly plan to sell them. And buy them, too.

Even more funny, you MAY need a few different datacores.
You cannot get ALL datacores from just a single agent (and are limited to 4 a day). So basicly this means market / contracts serve you the ability to collect them all
Also train up on charisma skill, train up agent standings skill this will improve agent quality which will increase your research point accumulation (i have an lvl 2 agent giveing me 75RP a day).
Another note if you can do it create an research agent on each of your 3 accounts, that way you can get 12 datacores a day and acumulate 3x the ammount of RP you normally could (6x if you do the missions on all 3 accounts).
Also invention doesn't mean you can step up to the highest tier 2 battleship anyway since you still need to aquire the T2 components which will take some time to collect aswell. It is not meant to be an instant replacement tool to bring the world T2 ships nor is it meant to bring unlimited wealth (hence the 4 datacores a day limit, and to prevent an market flood from people who want to sell them).
Another side note there *IS* a chance your invention can fail which means bye bye datacores and the thing starts right over again.
Anyway good luck!

ive got a level 3 high energy physcis agent, he gives me 45rp's / day, and thats without doing any missions, so I could get 1 core every 5 1/2days if I also did missions. Also remember you can have upto 6 (5 sensibly) agents running at once, which would be about 1 datacore a day with missions.
I also have 46k RP saved up, so I can buy 4 cores / day for the next 23 days. If I was more of an industry character I would have had 5 agents by now, and be able to buy alot more cores. There is going to be alot of people with saved up RP, so the market is likly to start getting flooded with cores for the next month as people buy thier limits each day. What I dont understand iswhy your level 4 agent is giving you less RP then my level 3. Oh, and remember you can get more RP/day by increasing your relevent science skills.

Probably on balance, despite the fact that Im an industry type and would LOVE to be able to launch my corp in to the T2 industry, I have to come down to the fact that if everything was acheivable in Eve by everyone, if everything was always a 'for sure' result and never contained an element of chance, if T2 was on everyones doorstep and the depth of the game was always easily acheivable as long as you had the skills trained, it would probably be a less appealing, far more bland experience.
I can see both sides, in that those who do have T2 bpos, either by chance or by parting with a large amount of isk, will want to protect their ability to make a fortune. While those of use that dont have T2 bpos will always be slightly miffed that the dice didnt fall in our favour and theres no 'for sure' way of making up for that. But thats life.

hmm, let's see
5 agents on a character, 3 characters on an account, 70RP/day without doing missions
1050 RP/day
That's 8 days for a cerb bpc? sounds pretty sweet to me

Invention will not help the small guy. It will help large alliances that want certain t2 ship types in their fleets but don't want to pay their enemy for them. ____ "If your not dyin' your not tryin'." "Are you prepared to go all the way, Alexi?" DuGalle |

Yeah, mechanical engineering datacores was 25m in market yesterday, I need 8, that's 200m, not counting the 8 in starship, knowing that a tech 2 cruiser costs 17m to build, DOES THIS SOUND REASONABLE?
