Dang, still nothing in the patchnotes :( doesnŠt seem they care for this particular problem, sooo....off to the yarrdware-store
Honestly, are there only a few ones that get this massive client performance loss?
Sys spec: Athlon64 3000, 1 gig ram, Nvidia GF 6600 NX, Win XP
Had no problems whatsoever b4 the patch, and good framerates even in combat.

star map is pretty, but a 2d non-animated one would be perfect for a quick map check during pvp ops and would be very easy to do surely? -- *snip* Discussing moderation/ linking to flamebait is a no-no. There is one in the map options. "Flatten Map" at the top of the window I believe.

Installing different versions of DX (April, August, October) and forceware (84.21, 93.71) not helped me.

Edited by: Chade Malloy on 13/12/2006 16:00:27 Well, after the patch i have witnessed a slight increase in the framerate, i had ~ 35fps (right outside station) pre patch, now its about 45fps, and that is noticeable.
However, its still far from my usual 60-70fps (again right outside station), so i think the seamless map still needs some more love, optimisation-wise.
Maybe only display the map-starfield in the background when the map is actually activated? I know, there would prolly be some loading hickups then, but i would prefer occasional loading lag to constant bad framerate.

Im really displased with this performance drop. We put EVERYTHING off what we can to have 2-3 more FPS in fleet combat and they just... no words for that :( And i dont have crapy computer its CCP fault.

This still needs addressing, implement an option to disable it or something. |

I have the following: P4 @ 4.23 GHZ 1gig pc4200 7800gtx
pre-revelations, the game ran very, very smoothly, but the addition of the background star field (this is not the full star map I'm talking about, this is the background in the normal game window which displays all of the solar systems as points) my framerate dropped substantially.
It is especially noticable in warp, most likely because it's forcing the renderer to work with multiple transparent, overlapping layers.
While it is a very cool feature to see a representation of our eve universe in the background during normal play, an on/off toggle for those of us who are concerned with getting a good framerate (I'd much prefer a more smooth framerate to seeing an inordinate number of rendered points) over eye candy. I'd much rather turn on some type of antialiasing or anisotropic filtering, than have the background starmap present.
Prior to revelations, I was able to do this, post revelations, enabling FSAA or Anisotropic filtering reduces the framerate by far too much.
