if they made it so that you could right click on the star map and choose avoid this system and have auto avoid it that would work too an extra 10 jumps is probally still faster than going though jita

I second this notion. Jita is way over crowded. Please put other systems that go around jita. Over 700+ in local sucks for laggggg.

Yep, I've got no problem with the Jita market. Just the hapless traveller getting stuck in the lag or the jump queue is really really bad.
What I would like to see is: - A new system for each market hub (Jita included) - It has no stations - It has all the same jumpgates as the hub it corresponds to

Originally by: Zebler I like the idea of a barren Jita, something along the lines of due to the sheer population all useful resources have long since been removed.
A Jita with no belts and no agents must offer a little extra headroom. Maybe not loads, but it has got offer some.
Pretty much today's Yulai, then?
Imagine if we had the old highways still in place...

If I remember correctly, they tried this already. A long time ago, Yulai was the commercial hub of the universe. Now, not so much. I dont know what determines empire hub location, but making a barren system will probably just shift lag to a single other system, so you get Jita 2.
I would recommend adding some kind of commercial incentive to stay out of Jita and other heavily populated systems. You could add a fee to all sales, paid by the buyer, of like 1% or .5%, maybe higher, to get people to buy elsewhere. You could reduce agent payoffs during that time period. You could have docking and gate fees for heavily populated systems. For those logging in, you could have an option to appear in another system (thus bypassing the queue).
yulai was actually better as you had atleast a half ringway around it. with jita now it sucks. id say remove all belts and agents completely from jita, add a ringway around it and only make it available as a travel option if someone selects jita as destination. that way it can still be used as a sale hub but will also remove all mission runners from system.

If we compare EVE to our real society, all major cities have a bypass like I-285 around Atlanta, because NO ONE wants to go through there. A system next to Jita with all the same gates, labeled as Jita-Bypass for the gates in connecting systems, would be a functional idea. Doesn't really matter what else you put in it, just as long as people aren't waiting an hour at a time to play a game they pay for.

Oh, Memory.
If everyone know the Jita system it's because it's been choosen with a single forum post when Yulai was put into a black hole.
As soon as you touch it with ideas like there is in this thread, the same will happen. A new thread named "Jita's gone, now where?" will make everyone know the new system (the bypass probably) that will be IN the path of everyone.
You want less lag and less peoples? Why go near the major trading hub then?
People want/need to suffer, why do you wish to change that and fix the 'Jita problem'? People will look for the new self-inflicting pain thing and abuse it. Same thing happened with the 'Trade channel'. When it was gone, peoples wanted it back to suffer, 10 messages a second even if it was getting hard on the server with 500+ in the channel. |

Sorry, a lot of that doesn't make sense.
Jita may have been established because it was a high traffic system, but people go there now because it's a market hub. Traffic through Jita (through, not into) is being obstructed.
I've got no problem with 700+ people going there to buy their Cerberus for 10 mil less than other regions. They pay the price for having a market hub. I do have a problem with needing to fly through Jita and getting held up for hours in a jump queue.
Furthermore: If Jita was established because of a forums thread, building a bypass would not kill it. If Jita was established because of high traffic, building a bypass may kill it, or may not. Either way, you have to look at why Jita exists today. I think it's because of need for a central market hub. If Jita exists because it is a central market hub, then building a bypass will not kill it.
We're not looking to take away Jita. We're looking for a way to avoid it if we so choose. Exactly what you put in your last paragraph.

Thanks TheDevilsJury, put it into words alot better than i can.
Simply Jita would still be a market hub. probably a bigger one. A Bypass 'deadspace' system would be like the M25 of EvE.
All Regional Jumps enter the bypass and not jita. Another jump into jita will be required.
All Forge region systems will have jumps to Jita and the Bypass systems. it just spreads the traffic.

If you put a way around it that is one more jump than going thru it, a lot of people will go thru it (less jump is better on autopilot).
If you put a way around it that is one jump less to go in the normal path, the new market hub will be right in that new path.
You might remember some time ago, bypass route like that were created around the highway linking Yulai, so someone going to Pator from Tash Murkon would not use the same systems as the one going to Algogille (around Amarr). The result, most people set their autopilot to go right in Amarr anyway, so the the highway were nuked, maybe to create regional market.
Only way to fix it is to prevent travel, make it harsh, fee on cargo size and jump gate fee. Let the traders in freighter do the work. Until then, lag!
Also it's interesting to note that Jita is often the worst place to buy something. Often it's better go in the low-sec border as Nonni, Orvolle... |

What happens if you put a way around Jita that is Exactly the same number of jumps as the normal path (not more, not less)?
Because that's what I'm proposing.
The rest of your post has good points, but you can't compare the solutions. Even if the Jita problem has similarties to the Yulai problem, we're not proposing the exact same solution.

I'm so sick of Jita whines, I've reached the point where I'd prepay a 10 years subscription to EVE if CCP would just nova the Jita star and wipe it off the map once and for all.
Just make sure someone frapses it.

Regional contracts are GREAT idea!
They'll stop people from crowding into jits so people can see their escrows! \o/

Add a timer to people in Jita when it's overpopulated, or better, all high populated systems that hit their population limit, boot em to nearest lowest populated system when it runs out...of course only active when in need..

Guess I'll just buy stuff on contract, then contract out a courier mission to get it out of there. I'm sure not going in there.

make another system right next to jita, called 'notjita' and put stargates that link it to the exact same systems jita links to, and make autopilot send you to 'notjita' automatically. give 'notjita' no stations.
