As promised at the Fanfest, not one but two new videos have been uploaded to the EVE Video section.
The first is the long anticipated EVE Online: Revelations trailer, 45 M packed full with the cool images and music we've been spoiled with from Zond3. Included are some action shots of the new ships released with Revelations.
The second video is a short clip of Ship Comparisons Redundancy used during his graphics upgrade presentation during the Fanfest. In it, you can see the changes coming to EVE in the future with the upgraded DX series of graphics.

I really did like the new trailer. Well done.
Will this replace the slide-show intro movie, though? (You really should remake the slide-show intro movie to moving pictures and narrator voice and stuff)

1. The revalations trailer is too short, great movie though but I was expecting it to be at least 3 minutes  still good though.
2. Yea we have seen those GFX updates on those ships already, have you not got any other ships models to show us? I have seen pictures of the new models on those ships so many times any chance of getting a round up on how many ships have had there models finished?

I would seriously like to see animatics, similar to Homeworld's style of narration. I honestly feel people haven't used that enough. It's not stealing if it's fifteen layers of awesome.
Anyway, where's the music from? Seriously. That very opening sequence, with the drums and the ominous first notes from the choir are serious moodsetters.
I loved the trailer as a whole (despite being short). It was curt and had the usual awesome angles and sweeps. It's also always surprising to me how well the graphic engine holds up after all these years, especially in the trailers.

And for those in the previous thread saying the tempest is shooting lasers they are wrong, as a tempest pilot i happen to know where all my turrets are on the model and there aren't any on that bottow foot part that hangs down, on inspection the tempest appears the be being fired upon by 3 targets at a fairly long range

Love both the new vids
The new trailer is much more about real gameplay than the previous ones, with fleet combat around POS's and stuff compared to random fights in previous ones (or missions)
plus its got a great soundtrack and has alot faster pace than previous videos (yes i know its shorter)
As for the comparision.. i saw the whole presention thing previously.. but wow cant wait.. and megathron next right?... go on.. you know you want to

Whats shown is running on dx9 - and as such does not require Vista.

Just save the default.asp it wants to save and rename to .wmv afterwards. Worked for me.

Are those fleet and POS battles from Sharkbaits last week's open Sisi tests? If yes then wow, that was fast work, and yeah they look pretty **** real. Good job!
A technical comment: This is one of the very few vids that really cook my CPU. Can't run EvE in parallel or even the sound starts stuttering, which is a bad sign. Must be some wicked compression.

Try using something like the divx player. The movie is very heavily compressed (Think HiDef compression) and you will need a decent 2 Ghz processor and about 512 ram just to play it soothly. Also helps to close your eve client and any backround aps. Welcome to the brave new world of HiDef.

To my mind the Exodus trailer was the most attractive and authentic representation of EVE gameplay--slow, austere and very alienating with a strange charm nonetheless.
I understand that capturing the charm of EVE is quite difficult, its usually a relatively obscure difference in ship performance, rig or % damage, but setting the right tone goes a long way in capturing the spirit of the game and enticing jaded gamers tired of techno-tracks and tired gameplay. The matter of fact tone of the female narrator in Exodus was above an beyond more natural than the No Other Destiny narrator or the Hollywood style visual editting of the recent trailer.
The epigram from Eve fiction in the Exodus trailer was better too--the last thing I want in Eve are more invitations to bring religion and politics onto the forums. Eve never fades was more about the new camera controls than anything else but like I said, Exodus trailer did those and did them with more economy.
Maybe I'm cynical but the subsequent trailers since Exodus have been wildly unrealistic--even a week old player can tell the difference: Ships do not move as fast as they do in those vids, POS sieges are slow, unfun, and barely interactive, people are very very conservative with their capitals and most players will never even see a doomsday device activation.

I had a hard time running +4000kbps in win media player.
Try saving the file as an mpeg (i.e. "revelations.mpeg"), and running it in winamp or a different, lightweight player. I have no trouble running vids over 6000kbps in that even on my ancient computer.
