The Third Alliance Tournament will begin broadcasting on EVETV at 1430GMT tomorrow. You will be able to connect to the stream from http://eve-online.com/evetv/ by clicking 'Tune In' . The standard stream will be available, with a paid option of a High Definition stream also available (more information on this forthcoming)
This time round we have 40 teams taking part û information on the pairings can be found at this link. Live studio and commented ingame action will be available along with special features from inside CCP and from FanFest 2006!
The first match takes place between Firmus Ixion and The Corporation Alliance at 15:00 GMT tomorrow.

As as aside from my pants, and Xyliana's propensity for voyeurism, for those who've never tuned into EVE TV, you're in for a TREAT. It's a riot to be able to tune in and watch these fights happen in real-time, and to listen to the commentary and experts chime in on the action.
The whole thing is produced very professionally (at least from the viewer's standpoint, zing!), and is a blast to watch. It made picking up the Tournament DVD from the store a no-brainer when I was at Fanfest, and I enjoyed watching it to relive the battles.
So when things go live, check it out!

You don't have to pay for it sir, you can watch it at exactly the same quality as it was last time, for free. On the other hand, a lot of people last time expressed the desire for a hi-quality stream, and that they'd be happy to pay for it.
Of course, if you have a server which could handle over 50k viewers over 6 hours a day, for 6 days, streaming at 1meg each, let us know, and we'll use that and give everyone an early Christmas present

Best of luck to the EveTV team. I've come to appreciate that a lot more work goes into the whole production than I assumed when watching the first broadcast. I just wish I wasn't on deadline - but I'll be watching as much as I can... except maybe the WB spycam stuff

Great to be able to get higher qualitly, but this flash player is a little bugged, plus watching it in a browser kinda takes the glamor away. The "full-screen" option just moves the video around the site.
Another thing is that it bugges the hell out of me not beging able to watch in a player of my choice.
One could want to watch on the tv and select the stream source your self.

As soon as I saw "latest version of Adobe Flash Player", I knew we were screwed. And I was right! You can't do anything else on your computer if you want the full screen version to actually stay fullscreen on one of your monitor screens (if you have two monitor screens like some do). The low quality stream is good enough for me, but not being able to have the **** thing fullscreened without being stuck having only Firefox up is quite annoying.

And agreed this flash browser stuff is kind of like technology for the sake of being flashy and fancy. But practically rubbish when you get down to it.
Oddly enough it worked for me before I did as was advised (to view full screen instead of a postage stamp) and upgraded flash. Then it froze. But I guess its not only me having that problem now.
Bring back streams. Simple, effectve and versatile.
Edit, and just like that, it works again. But I still dislike the whole thing as it is.

The browser window is slower and you can hear it , because the music slows down regularly...
I agree with others, that last year's stream was a much better option.

can't see what all this fuss is about. works perfect for me, no buffer and I'm even on a downgraded dsl atm. (usually run a 5mbit but atm only on 256/256).
only buffer I had was about 4 sec. when I tuned in to begin with.
But as I've been told by friends claiming to be computergeeks I'm just not either tellin the truth or a rare case... hmm.... because those havin problems post here, but those who's successfull are too busy watchin the tourney.
Update your drivers, update flash, use IE to watch it and bob's an annoying alliance :P

Last time it was actually possible to hear something and understand it. This time the quality is crappy, sounds cuts off every 2 seconds, buffering, laggy etc etc.. it sure doesnt look like the same quality to me.

yeh, I'll join in and say this is much crappier than the last 2 times.
Why the change?
The constant buffering might be because I'm not paying for it, but the ****tyness of the player freezing after buffering etc., really doesn't make me wanna spend any money on that.

I loved the last Tourney, and was really looking forward to this one.
But it's unwatchable. I'm stuck buffering every other word, and it's flat out painful to try to listen to, let alone watch.
PLEASE give us back a standard stream!

If you have a slow enough pc yes it can affect as i'm running eve while watching this and i have two friends that bought standard pcs this year that can't run eve worth a **** forget trying to do anything else. learn to read pls.
i'm not whining that would be you guys. and my main had his skills all messed up and just got deleted so this is what you get. if you have dsl this is what you get for using a pos type of broadband. i may share my bandwith but i can stream like a mofo ;)

The performance varies, too, in the fight 20 mins ago it was perfect, in this fight somehow the stream video was 2 minute behind the audio. In the fighst 40 and 60 mins ago it was basicalyl unwatchable due to constant buffering.

Soo.. updated flash, watched for about 10 mins then it froze, in fullscreen. Tried to get my taskmanager up but it wouldnt show so I had to reboot the computer using the I lose button.
I'll be sure to tune in next year \o/

Nice.
Audio is great, but the video is going at 2 frames per second and just continuously lags behind the audio. Most of the time I just have a still picture. I hear boom boom from cruise missiles yet I'm still watching Hillmar's presentation at the fanfest.

If you refresh the web page so that the Player app reloads, the buffering problems seem to go away.
My guess is that the stream servers were having problems with network balancing, and that the Player can only update its connection when the app starts, not while its already open. Their servers aren't used to the entire EVE community bearing down on them and the load gradually built up.
Just refresh the page whenever you start having buffer problems and the player will reconnect to a stream with less load.
Can't wait for tomorrow's broadcast

Nice try...didn't work....for more than a few minutes. If you look at my signature, you'll see the last fanfest running perfectly in the viewer of MY choice with eve and other things going. This in-browser crap? Not tuning in again unless flash is OUT of the picture.

Well i refreshed refreshed and refreshed again for about an hour and gave up. I was so disapointed I was unable to watch most of it after the initial match, it was that bad. The cruel irony was, the only match i did manage to watch was the one in which my alliance m8's got bbq'd. I opted for the free option as i'm poor atm. I didn't really feel it was an option though more an advert for the one you pay for lol. Might be better in the next round maybe.

CCP Please revert to the last broadcast method...Stream is unviewable/ borked over lasthour i have seen 3 min of video. In Texas atm dont know if that explains broadcast probs...judging by previous post it doesnt though. Please fix this NOW so that we can watch some part of the broadcast, otherwise you are waisting your time and money!

Come on guys, get this fixed please. Seems the general concensus of opinion is allowing us to stream it to our media player of choice.
Apart from this major dissapontment, I'd like to say that when I can actually watch the show I find the over all presentation to be very good. I enjoy both the studio discussion and the commentary of the battles.

Looked at that Jalipo program, c'mmon, guys, it's BETA ffs. You took one of the most important promotional events for Eve and made it depend on some 3-rd rate unknown software in its beta stage Just for what? To make it impossible to record the stream and sell a few DVD copies later on? Was it worth screwing the tournament for a vast majority of your PAYING customers?

The picture seemed a lot better in windows media player. Im not sure exacly why you cant just link to the stream? It doesnt take more or less bandwidth?
Anyway, from what I saw, I think you guys commentating did a nice job... spiral is great as usual and the commentating was good. Just dont force people do sit and watch a small flash window for hours and you'll be fine. Last time was great you know. Dont fix what isnt broken. :)

That was the worst event yet. I couldnt even watch 10 seconds without the launcher having to reload. I could hardly follow oveur yesterday with the interview nor could I see any of the matches. Screw you.
