Agreed with MR SHOUTY CAPS
It made a change to have a mission where you actually had a 'woooa!!' moment and had to think for a second. Its now gonna be another standard warp in and dont move till they all die mission.

This seems to be the anti-whiners whining thread, so I'll chip in as well.
Don't change the mission. We need some missions to keep on our toes. Place a difficulty warning "Only do at own risk", "Risk for n00bs to loose their ships imminent"
I only got to do this mission once and it was the best time I've in EVE in years. Damn, I still get shivers when I think about it. Of course, if I had been on the other side of the fence and had actually lost my ship............
When looking through all comments there are many players claiming to be new to missions or even n00bs and still saying that they did the mission and it was easy. I have to assume that not all of them are lying but there is some truth in it. Makes me wonder why. I have one theory.
The initial rats where on about 60km distance. Some frigs and cruisers and 2 BS, iirc. At the time I was new to L4 missions, I would immediately had started to move away to max locking distance before even firing a single shot. Then keep on moving away sniping off the fastest first and be left with the BS and still keeping at max distance.
When I saw the pack my thought were "ok, easy enough group, just stay put and tank those buggars". The spawn came on top of me at the warp-in point. So my theory is that the spawn point might be hardcoded to the warp-in point, which would explain why the newer palyers that moved away from that point and kept moving never had any problems with the mission.
As the mission is going to be changed I'm unlikely to get to try out my theory. On the other hand, if the 2nd spawn is always on top of you, the newer player (not stubborn "I'll tank this" like myself) that was moving away towards a warp point and having his trigger finger on the warp button still might get out on top as warp is instant at max speed.
Whatever the scenario, I would hope that CCP would revise their intentions if the planned change to this mission is a nerf.

I had Stop the Theif I didn't think it was that hard.. IT was just different, thats what made it more difficult its not what people expected.

I also see no reason why missions or other stuff - which seemed to be to hard to challenge - should be nerfed by demand of noob arcade gamers. O.K. ... be fair ... the first scream in local came from a well fitted Raven pilot who was destroyed by the Shadow posse within 20 seconds. I could understand his pain but this is EVE, clones. Always be careful what you are doing. Your tactics have been camping before? O.K. ... in those kind of missions it's probably over.
Same example with WCS. My former corp leader was complaining [let's call it whining] about WCS nerf target range. Fine. I see no problem with that. You are in fear to get scrambled? So take WCS but then it should be no problem to meet the bad guys in close combat. You don't need WCS? So do your long range tactics.
I run l4's for a few months now in a Brutix and actually in a Myrmidon. I got many suprising comments how that should work. Experienced clones know that everything is about skills, the right [expensive] fitting and tactics. I survived missions solo like Angel Ex, Vengeance, Zazz, Silent The Informant etc. ... even Worlds Collide gave me a chance to escape in the last second. *:-)
So I just can recommend to CCP: there's so much easy stuff in EVE to accomplish. CCP should leave some hard stuff as hard as possible. For that we have a nice Gang mode. And it's so easy to find a bunch of good pilots in local. I like to run l4's solo in a BC. If I lose my ship in a unexpected too hard mission I have to accept that and looking forward the next time how to deal with it. Isn't that one thing which makes a game like EVE challenging?

You say there's a chance of a commander spawn, but I run Blockade against DED [Guristas agent]... what kind of faction loot would they drop if a Commander did indeed spawn, assuming they even can as DED?
On the same thought, are the old 50+ quality triggers still active? Maybe that influences getting a commander spawn in blockade now?

Definitely keep the high-difficulty missions.
I loved that moment in my shiny new Caracal and my 3 week old character when an L2 whupped up on my ass and made me warp.
Made me THINK, dammit!
Hell, first time I got WC L1 in my nice new Merlin on a 4 day old character.
Had a nice emergency pants moment there, and then beat the damn thing.
Honestly, if you can't take losing ONE mission ONE time, maybe you ought to go play something easier. Keep the hard ones!

One of the most memorable moments I had running missions was when a corpie and I ganged for Worlds Collide. We entered the 2nd stage (Serpentis) and aggroed everything. I got most of the heat and had about 25% cap left before we cleared it out. Was a close run thing, but what a rush and because it was hard it made it exciting. So if anything make lvl 4's harder, or open up lvl 5's. -----------------------------------------------

My two pennies: There are lots of lvl4 easy missions, and choose one or decline it is up to you. If you feel that this one is too much for you, just decline it and get another. If you don't like a mission, no one forces you to go for it. Making all missions easy for everybody reduces diversity in game, and makes it less and less interesting. So I think is good to keep this mission as it is, in fact, I think we need more missions like this one to have a bit of challenge.

Too late, given that the patch notes say difficulty has been adjusted. Just wanted to contribute that I want too want some hard missions...not all the the time every time, but enough to make me sit up and wonder if this is the moment I fish or cut bait.
I am hoping that by difficulty, the patch notes mean that the mission only spams the local channel instead of all of the open ones.

I think that is because we got a "Command" Agent. But I would like it that the Blockade would be added to Command agents aswell of course.

Beef it up!?!?! Just move the gate to the second area 50km closer or give us something to shoot at while we make the trek across that stupid mission. Its such a waste of time for the bounty and loot you get. The fly distance just sucks.

Any chance you can talk to someone about the 120KM to the gate on The Assault? That is sooo annoying in a tanked BS. Or just make it so you can warp to beacons. ^^ ---------- I gave up on sigs. As all the beatings are starting to hurt and leave nasty bruises. |

Got 'The Blockade' for the first time since the patch and at the time had under 60min to downtime. It was very interesting indeed.
I ran out of ammo and had to come back.
Was this mission in game before Revelations, as when I commented on it in local a person said it's an old mission.
Was a real shock for me, but next time it will be different ___________________

It's an old-school mission: used to happen at gates as just an encounter mission pre-Dragon. It was removed in Dragon, and has no been re-introduced (although it's a completely different mission, using the old name)

The stop the thief mission was alright when I tried it a while ago.
I was in a semi-tanked dominix, using a laptop on a public internet-connection, I had less than 2 fps from the laptop, and the lag made it hard...
Almost died 4 times, and lost 5 misc tech II drones ^^
Desided not to try another mission with the drones, had huge problems controlling them o.0
Saying that: It's not impossible!

Well i've only done the blockade with DED agents, i'd really like to know if there's a chance of a commander spawn in that one, also you might wanna compare it to other factions, i doubt serpentis(or whatever faction really) version has as high damage output from the rats tbh. It's pretty much like getting concorded in empire but without the jamming. Still doable though so no biggie. As for "Stop the thief" it was just matter of tactics just as people said earlier, not all are sit and tank missions and that's what makes missions a bit more fun than ratting after all.

My theory about Stop the Thief was correct. The 2nd spawn emerges at the warp-in point (or close to it). This time I was 90km when it happened and I must agree with newer runners posting that it was actually a really easy mission.
BUT. I now also know that if I at any time want a real challenge, I will stay put after warping in

Personally I never got a chance to do the Stop The Thief mission, so can't really comment. Having said that was it any more difficult than multi-aggroing the second stage of Mordus Headhunters - without taking out the Katana's first, just for a laugh?
