disclaimer: I'm a bit of a Mac zealot, but I run an Ubuntu partition for work, and have been running windows 10 partition since early developer previews on my MacBook Pro.
I'm really impressed with windows 10. EvE works great, and I've had no problems. Spartan or, edge, I guess, is a damn good web browser.
I'm actually going to get a dedicated laptop for a windows/gaming machine. Trying to figure out a way to get work to pay for that.
I honestly feel like I just read fifty shades of dumb. --CCP Falcon

Works, worked already on Windows 10 insider previewiew. Old drivers are often a problem, check them first.
EvE and Win10 work on a Core 2 Duo with 570 4GB RAM as fine as in intel i 7 with 670 and 16gb ram. Now even isboxer (*g*) runs.
I installed debian on a mac mini, but thingy might not have enough power, will probably end as mediacenter.

EvE and other games works for me. Both on my PC and on my laptop. Installing was easy and with me the drivers where updated in one go. Only thing that happend was with my pc was that after logging in after updating my resolution was lower than original intended but that was corrected easely.
PC: intel I7 3.7ghz 64gb ram and geforce 770 4gb laptop: intel i7 2.2ghz 6gb ram and geforce 630m

I wasn't going to bother for a month or so until I had a play on some display machines. I'm dual booting an upgrade with a VM of my old Win 7 install; so far it's taken everything I've chucked at it and all the apps, including Eve, carried over from the 7 upgrade seem to out of the box.

The Win10 recovery feature could not fix issues so in the end I had to use the Reset to factory win10 option and whilst it has removed pretty much all my games and other programs its working pretty well. Except that after shutting down it mysteriously boots back up......
Seems smooth but has far to many compatibility issues to be an official release. I would advise people to wait a while until programs etc are properly compatible before doing the upgrade.
Go to control panel/hardware and sound/power options/system settings/ shut down settings and disable "turn on fast start up " (by default on).
That will stop your pc from booting by itself after shutting it down.

Cheers for the tip but I do enjoy insta-boot on this pc :) and besides it only boots up on its own rarely now so I can live with it. So far so good with win 10

No that was my confusion too but I have managed to get it to boot up again (Not so fried after all) But it was giving not-responding errors constantly so have rolled back to Windows 8.1 and all is working fine now... Have spent the whole day trying to get it to boot, then it did and I had no display, then finally got that back.... Oh well at least it is working again.

Minor problem with the launcher, I've just clean installed a copy of Windows 10 Home 64bit on an old Dell laptop.
Not having an up to date copy of Eve handy I used an old version from before the shared cache became the norm. The change and update all went fine and the client runs as expected, the problem is in the settings of the launcher. I always download all files but the tick box is un-ticked and it won't allow me to save the ticked box.
No idea why and I tried both with and without administrator privileges, so the game downloads stuff as required as the game plays, not a big deal, just a small bug. |

I too have loaded Win 10. I find that I must now always right click my EVE shortcut and select run as admin otherwise I get the same error results as some others have said.
I did delete the launcher folder and reload the launcher as CCP Darwin suggested.

I got kinda drunk last night. I installed windows 10. After ensuring i disabled all the "we want to send microsoft everything! We want cortana listening to you all the times! We want you to p2p to **** your internet connection! Sucks if you live in Australia and have bandwidth limits lulz! " and then i could not disable windows update entirely :|
It also killed the eve launcher.
It would get an error. The game would not update. Repairs would not fix it. You could still play by launching the client then logging in but it was a pain.
I then went to sleep.
I woke up a few hours later when i was sobre. Realised what i had done. And rolled that **** back to Windows 7 immediately.

No worries, no intention on adopting Windows 10 as long as there are forced updates. That as a minimum has to go. Microsoft is really only making a Windows 10 for themselves. What happened to making a product that your customers love and then get rich that way, instead of using their monopoly to just serve us one crap OS after the other.
This wouldn't be such a huge deal if it wasn't for the fact that people that want a system that's relevant in gaming has to have a Windows system, otherwise you're out of luck as that's pretty much the only system they release games for. Get started on Linux please, it's the lack of dev support for Linux that's holding me back from making it my main system. A vicious cycle.
-I want to control what gets installed on my system, so please don't force your crapware on me with forced updates. Or rotten drivers for that matter.
-I don't want my privacy violated more than it has to be, so please don't spy on my every action.
-I want an "I know what the **** I'm doing" version of Windows if I'm ever to purchase another version. So please release a proper Windows 10, you can even call it Windows 10 Technical (since you've sullied the 'Pro' label). I will pay for such a version.
Pretty ******* please, with sugar on top.
My prospect right now is to sit with Windows 7 Pro 64bit, which isn't so bad, but it sucks to be outdated by 2020. Guess 2020 is the end of the line for me as far as proper gaming goes, and I will have to join the impossible fight of making Linux a relevant gaming platform, even though that is one of my biggest wishes in this universe. It will probably spell the ending of my gaming career. |

Not interested in W10 until resolutions or work around solutions for driver signing are implemented to support Open Source Software that interact with devices and kernel level stuff.
As it stands, it seems open source developers are being/going to be limited and forced to pay substantial $ to develop certain kinds of software that were normally viable under Win7/8 and even prior. Ostensibly in the name of improved security. But it does a nice job of making OSS device related development difficult/impossible for independent devs who have limited resources to afford a relationship with microsoft. |
