Stat implants are too expensive 5x as much as the ships I use and are keeping me from engaging in the activities in eve I like. And frankly, I don't understand why players don't get to produce them or why I can't insure them.
Also I'd like to be able to rig my ship's salvage to explode with a rig slot to prevent people from making money or recovering my modules. Bonus points if it would take out their ship or cripple them for an extended period of time.
You wonder why everyone is just mining in high sec? Implants cost too much.

Yeah but that doesn't give me the opportunity to retaliate. Combat lasts about 10 seconds in a T2 Covert Ops frig. You get to decloak to hack (stupid mechanic of all the thing you should be able to do cloaked...) they decloak 'get first attack' fire at you with an Astero (or multiple Asteros) and you explode.
They sometimes get the warp scram on your pod and you die. It'd be nice to know that I could fit an 'incinerator' rig to my ship that would insure they got no profit from killing me and maybe take a same size ship out. I don't think it is unreasonable to booby trap ships, disguise them as other ships on scanners, etc.
You'd think a guy from code would appreciate the thought and endorse it.

Hack. Scan better. Other stuff.
However as someone who has explored for years, there are ways to not get popped. Maybe figure that out before whining.

Why do you need all 5 attribute implants? You really train int/mem and per/will and chras/will or whatever all same time? If you just buy cheap implants and train according to remap you would train faster than your hap-hazard 100mill all attribute pods you realise correct?
Just buy +2s for 2 attributes and train those skills.

I hunt explorers in a sensor boosted Astero. If you are quick you can always get away (and plenty of my targets do.) An Astero has a targeting delay of about 5 seconds after decloaking, this is plenty of time for you to warp, you just need to react faster. Even if you do get caught, an Astero does not carry bubbles, so you should always be able to get your pod out. |

And frankly, I don't understand why players don't get to produce them or why I can't insure them. No, you're the one who arbitrarily chooses to not engage in certain activities and you're using your choice of implants to justify this choice. There are no implants in the game that inhibit any activity. If you want to engage in some activity, do so. If you don't, then don't try to shift the blame onto something else.
Also, players are the ones who produce them, and insuring them would defeat the purpose they have in the overall economy: to remove ISK from the game. As for your other ideas, they're essentially already in the game, but without the pathetic sour graps aspect.

You don't need to fit a full set of +5s. If you have a focused skill plan you can just put +5s in the primary and secondary.
As to whether implants are expensive, that is subjective. I lived in null for a year or more and always had a +4s in the primary and secondary attributes, though if I thought there was a high chance of getting podded I would hold off on a particular day. That didn't happen very often if at all. Sometimes I would ship down to a +4 in primary and +3 in secondary though. |

I just use +3s... it's barely noticable training time difference. My 7 day skills take 3 hours more to train. Good heavens I lost 150 hours of training a -year-
Also tis been said. You only need to use + implants in the skills you are remapped for. I'm doing Perception/Willpower all day so that's all I use. A pair of +3's is like 20m
........ also a full set of +4's is muich cheaper than many of my ships........ |

imo, it's bad science.
Kudos for fiting them but you can put scanning / hacking implants in a jump clone with 10mil +3's and be in a much better position.
Use the jump clone book that facilitates a 20hr clone jump and lose out on those +5 implants for 20hrs. |

Just buy +2s for 2 attributes and train those skills. Idiot The basic reason is that even if someone is int/mem mapped, over the course of a year it's likely that they will train skills that use a different set of attributes. So even if someone starts with implants to match their mapping and train related skills, at some point they'll also benefit from plugging in additional implants.
It doesn't make sense to plug them all in at once, but if you don't lose a pod for a while it's easy to end up with all five attribute slots plugged in.

Likely if you are in the US, you're still using my street equipment installed 10, 12, 15yrs ago, and very limited technology compared to today.
Heck, all I have out here is DSL1 (and not enough for everyone), though the company that put that in finally sold off to a copper manufacturing company that mostly deals with DSL2 systems, so there may be some hope at least locally (not that I plan to live here much longer). Fiberoptics? Aint ever going to happen here, and what small portions of the US got that system, that's about it, expansion halted. And more regulation likely coming to make it even worse. Not even mentioning all the problems trying to get a con over the sea of despair to Europe.
If you noticed, in-game peaks are mostly Europe time, it's not because EVE isn't interesting for US players.
