Ok this isn't a lets discuss the merits thread but I was wondering, and maybe some others where too, which way would the player base go in the following situation.
""Lets assume"" that ccp really did just run a "live beta" test for the past 6 months and has gotten the game to where they feel its balanced and running the way they want it too.
CCP announces that when they begin the new marketing campaign in ernest they will be opening a new server to support this launch.
The new server will be exactly the same as the one we are currently playing on with the exception that the map has been changed and all new accounts will be playing there. Any current accounts switching over will be starting at ground zero.
The question is, How many players here would switch over to the new server for a fresh start and how many would never give up what they have already gained playing through a live beta experience or how many would buy another account and play both?
to sum up the logical choices:
A) switch to new server for a fresh start
B) never switch over
C) buy another account and play in both universes If you can catch me you can have me. |

Interpreting "I QUIT" as meaning what? A hypothetical situation with three possible outcomes given and you select a fourth. Why not quit now since the chances of new players is none existant or haven't you been reading any of the recent reviews? Just because Hellmar is boasing about eve doesn't mean anyone else is.
This is a good example of the immaturity of eve players. Ask a simple question and instant the IF I can't have it my way crowd shows up and starts spouting bullsh*t.
If you have the ability to read the reread the post and you will see that I clearly stated this wasnt' a discussion thread. If you can catch me you can have me. |

Here you are once again jumping into a thread and spouting how you know it all. What does non discussion mean in your pea sized brain?

As in many threads that I have posted, when people aren't interested in the subject ... they just leave. I thought I made it clear that this was just a simple poll of a hypothetical situation and expected those that didn't think it would be fun to participate .... would just leave.
You know. My biggest complaint with eve is many of the people who just have to jump in and try and spoil other peoples fun. Granted this in my first MMO so I have never been in a game with a player base this large but it stinks that people have nothing better to do than try and spoil it for others. If you can catch me you can have me. |

To be honest with you Gan "I would quit" was something that never occured to me and still makes no sense(as far as the hypothetical question posed goes). I would have to interpret it to mean that there are a large number of players who would leave eve if there came a time when no new players were coming into the game. Logically that is the only thing that makes sense givin the hypothetical situation I set up. We could very possibly be in that situation today. Americans as a group have not responded to this game as well as Europeans have. Who says asians will either. If you can catch me you can have me. |
