As the title states.. What ship in the EvE-online arsenal do you see when you think of adventure and flying in deep space?

My old Imicus, the first "real" ship I had when I first played Eve. I loved all those engine streamers as I flew around doing my missions.....

My Pilgrim. I love to fly around in it cloaked and spy on everything, while not being as defenseless as I would be in a CovOps frig should I make a mistake.

I like flying into lowsec for trading and hauling in my completely unequipped Badger Mk II.
If I lose the ship, it's insured, and I lose the cargo, but that's usually nothing special.
Anyone who blows my ship up gets a whole lot of nothing.

Rifter, Stabber, Burst(its gorgeous even if it IS useless) and the Crusader. All beautiful ships imho. (stabber could use a touchup tho, perhaps end up looking less like something it ought not to)

The iconic EVE ship has always been a dead tie between the Apocalypse and Megathron for me. I think a ton of people fell in love with the Megathron when it was first unveiled in screenshots in 2001 - it's the kind of ship a lot of people think of when they think "battleship".
I'll admit the Grand Chicken of Battle (aka the Prophecy) will always have a special place in my heart. The sexy black version don't hurt. --- What good are actions if there's no one to tell the tale afterward?...

Back in the day when I was a few weeks old and a giant noob, the Thrasher was my exploration/pwnage ship of choice. Flying into lowsec with some RL friends and trying to rat, all the while with my amazing setup:
4x 200mm AC (for stuff that got too close) 1x Medium Afocal Maser (because every cool ship needs a laser) 2x 280mm Howitzers (for 'long range sniping') 1x 'Malkuth' Standard Launcher (because missiles looked sweet, and the name was cool)
1x Small Shield Booster (because real men tank destroyers) 1x Cap Battery (for long-distance warps) 1x 1 MN Afterburner (ZOMG SPEED!)
1x PDS (because grid was tight) 1x Small armour rep (in case the situation got too hot and the shield booster wasn't enough)
Ahh... the days when my biggest threat in >0.5 space was Angel Impalers and their Pirannah Light Missiles. I still remember when missiles used to have to fly around objects in space...
I miss being a noob.

Rifter and it's T2 variants, it looks somewhat like a typical fighting ship and can actually perform well.
I don't really see battleships as adventurous. Sure, fleet battles can be fun and ships like the Megathron look awesome, they just are'nt quick enough to have that adventure feel, it's more like flying somewhat safely in a battle group. Yes, I know even the largest fleets can run into problems. I hate to bring up this comparison, but think of it as a Star Wars analogy.
Adventurous = Millennium Falcon/small group of X-Wings and Y-Wings fightig first deathstar. Battle group = Sitting in a Mon Calamari Cruiser in the Republic fleet formed to attack the second deathstar.
Yes, in both cases you can die, but what takes more bravery or should I say stupidity?

Stabber, I used one on my first venture into 0.0 (back before it even had the velocity bonus) and lived...never been afraid of low sec or 0.0 since (even ran two SA blockades and one CA blockade).

Edited by: DubanFP on 07/12/2006 19:44:58 Newbie Adventures:Caracal, sure in reality it sucks. but soo many newbies make thier first real advantures into low-sec flying one "myself included" that it's kind of reached the point where it's an icon of adventure and exploration of newbies.
Seasoned Adventures: That's a bit harder and i don't think there is one clear cut answer to it. but my vote would have to go for the Raven. It's just soo common that there really is no other choice. Every other BS in space is a Raven, and for that there really can be no other choice.
My Adventures: Have to be the Stabber, nothing quite like fighting a close range fit Vexos/Thorax that just can't get within Web range. Eventually dieing as thier tank/cap fails. __________________________ Why babelfish is bad mmm k "which the night do not expect that it calls the primary education before becoming deformed inside" |
