Never worked with the PDP-10, but spent a fair bit of time around the PDP-11 when I was in the RCAF. 3/4" tape drives and ferrite-core memory. They just don't make 'em like that anymore

On top of that, the stupid laws prohibit me from having a drivers lisence, because I need to previously have a PERMIT for a year, so I get to see my 16 year old friends drive around, because they took drivers ed when they were 15 >_< What else.. I've been playing for bout.. tree fiddy years. and have grown out of mining completely.. now I'm just a npcer/missioner/pirate. I love techno.. and also have a passion for illegal things ^_^

I teach teenagers during the day and try (pretty unsucessfully) to kill as many of them as I can during my Eve time, can't think why..... My gaming started with a Sinclair ZX81 and then a C64 with "Solo Flight" and "Elite" etc.. It's hard to believe now that the C64 only had 32 kb (I think it was) of usable memory after the operating system was loaded.

In game I'm mostly into the PVE aspects - missions and ratting - although I dabble in production and trading. Lately I have been fully into the salvaging craze. Just within the last week or so I finally got jump clone aspect (post-Revelations patch) so PVP may be on the horizon for me. Someone in the thread mentioned BBS and Trade Wars - boy did that bring back memories. I just could not mention my favorite BBS game of all times - VGA Planets. I'd still get involved in a game of that today as I loved the long term strategic thinking and empire building involved.

I'm likely to be the youngest in my corporation, even though half of them don't realise I'm this young. I can still remember an applicant for our corporation asking for an older representative even though I was well-mannered and spoke perfect English, sometimes it's better not to mention your age in this environment, heh. I'm glad EVE has so many older players, it raises the level of playing to a near-realistic experience, with the professionalism used in handling game mechanics and community-raised issues. It's what makes EVE stand out with neck and shoulders compared to the other MMORPGs on the market, sure smacktalk and other childish behaviour still persists, but luckily not even close to the amount you get in MMORPGs such as World of Warcraft. What also makes this game attractive to the older group of gamers is that SP accumulation isn't entirely ruled by the amount of time you spend playing the game, having a life doesn't give you a major disadvantage compared to the die-hards, and by using intellect anyone is able to accumulate ISK without too much in-game effort. Additionally, the game isn't as much about reflex and a sharp eye as other games are, although I certainly miss being able to manually control my character. In this game's case that would be: Strafing, Aiming, Rolling and the likes. I'd give a lot to be able to outsmart interceptors when in a larger ship just by predicting their movement and firing a large shell in it's course. Sure it will be a lot harder considering the mechanics implemented at this point such as signature radius and the countless of skills to improve the automatic firing system EVE currently has, and I don't even want to think about the server load caused by entire fleets, with so much data being sent and received. And as with any games with such mechanics, there will always be hacks around. I guess it's a dream that won't ever be realised. Anyway, I'm 17, started playing EVE when I was 15 (odd how a game can be such a big part of your life) I like to pvp, but also like to carebear once in a while (or market pvp).
