If the description implies that there are multiple items, but the actual contract says something like "Zydrine", and does not actually say "Zydrine x XXXXX", then it's a scam. Scams aren't exploits in EVE though (except if you cna't tell if it's a scam or not like the BPO/BPC thing).

actually, that is just an assumption. you have no real proof that there is only one item. the number of items could show somewhere else. obviously, that's where people get scammed.
Lol look at the screenshot i posted. Create an auction with 1 unit and with 5 units. It DOES show how many there are.
They do say interbreeding results in stupidity...
don't be a sore loser. deal with it in other ways.
one thing at least, is that doing this cost scammers money when noone bids. it's better than the old system where it used to cost scammers nothing since the risk vs rewards thing was horrible.

THESE ARE NOT SCAMS
Everyone has the right to sell any item they want at any price they want. As show in This SCREENSHOT you can see that all but 1 contract is for 1 unit of zydrine, the other is for 100 units.
None of them have a description that is misleading or anyway a scam. Just because they put up 1 unit of zydrine for 90m isnt a scam, and if your stupid enough to buy it then, well.. you should enroll back into school
And for EXTRA proof, SCREENSHOT

Consider this the school. We're schooling them to "not be stupid." Stop feeling superior, they aren't really, they're just players like you and if they get scammed they'll get ****ed off and leave the game. Now why are you against posts like these? Ulterior motive?
I have seen misleading descriptions, so there ARE scams out there, even if you don't consider the particular ones you've screenshotted to be.

Surely it would not have been hard to always have an item count showing. Ive never been fooled (though I did decide to weigh risk vs reward with CurrinTrading) in any MMO, but nor do I feel particularly special about that. You idiots sitting back and mocking those who critic the system mustn't get much out of the game if you have to derive so much pride and pleasure in your ability to avoid common pitfalls.
There's no good reason to have a UI layout change between 1 item and 2 items. Hell, I've known great traders who have made mistakes (L2, WoW) under easier systems, not due to ignorance but simply because eventually you will probably make that mistake.
In regards to CCP saying you'd still be able to scam over escrow, I believe they were referring to private contracts. That is, allow you to double cross someone. Or setup bad contracts etc. It shouldn't mean deliberately making a contract system layout which wont have any obvious faults when reviewing at 3am. Either no item count, (so you'll always check) or always an item count.

These posts are misleading and they result in more people thinking these are scams which they are not. Just like the "EVEMON has a virus thread"..

I think that between all the screenshots and us arguing about which contracts are legit and which aren't, they'll get the idea of which contracts are scams and which aren't, when they try to use the system.

Edited by: Nimie on 10/12/2006 02:41:09 dai007 is just really stupid, a scammer or both. reread and see how many times you are contradicting yourself. anyhows, it becomes a scam attemp when someone advertises for 5000 units when they only have one. noone, except for stupid people like dai, attemps to sell a unit of zyd for 500m when it cost them 50m or something in fees.
edit: nice job dai, for posting the one zyd exchange that didn't have a misleading description. you're a babe.

Please, tell me, what exactly is wrong with being a scammer? It's a valid EVE profession, and CCP allows it.

The entire new contract system consists of "scams"... thats really all it is. Occasionaly youll see a buyer looking for an item, but the rest is just cheap contracts.

Why on earth would you use Contracts to buy minerals?
The Market is far more effective, and easier to find a good supply. Not to mention, you can't be scammed there.
The Contract system, as well as the Escrow before it, are far overused, and abused. All to avoid a little bit of tax.
