If I fit a rig with skill at 3 and get 30% whatever from it.... and then later I increase that rigging skill to 4, will the rig then have a 40% whatever? Or will it be locked at 30%?

If you install a rig the then train your skill to a higher level the draw back will decrease to your new skill level. It seems that a check is made when you get into a ship and drawbacks are applied according to your skills.
I'm not sure what happens if your in space and a rig skill Finishes training.

Had that happen to me yesterday (finished Armor Rigging 4 while looting/salvaging in a ship with 3 salvage tackle rigs), and my max speed went up a bit, so I would say that the skill applies as a reduction of the drawback when your are in the rigged ship, automatically, and updates itself when you finish the training.

Nice Q&A.
However, doesn't your above statement contradict this?
Quote:
Q: Do I have to rig my ship my self A: No a professional rigger could do it for you and his rigging skills are used to determine what drawback you get.
Or do you mean that I can use ships with rigs I do not have skills for, and receive the bonus the rigs give, as long as someone else has put in the rigs?

yes it does ...
your own skill is used to determin the drawback effects

To clarify:
Someone else can put the rigs on the ship for you, and then you can fly it, even if you don't have the skills to fit the rigs. The drawbacks are determined by whoever is actually in the ship flying it. ------------

Fantastic guide. I usually just flog the stuff, but it might be worth making them up after reading this.

Should read "Q: How do I get salvaged materials. A: With a salvager module û takes one high slot - 20 cpu 1 grid, active it on a wreck within 5km.
If there is anything in the wreck when it is salvaged, a can will be left behind with the loot for you to take at will. You can empty the wreck first to avoid this.
(if you are emptying the can when the salvage completes the can may appear anyway but with nothing in it, just put something in and take it back out to pop the can, that is a bug - reported)
Nice guide.

So, does anyone have a conclusive answer to what level in the Salvaging skill you need for: -t2 frigs -t2 cruisers -t2 battlecruisers -capitals -supercapitals
-faction spawns -officer spawns

Great guide. I gained alot of good info from this guide and I would definetly say it is worthy of a sticky. One question I was still unsure of though was how exactly salvaging rigs affected the results of salvaging a wreck. This is what I found: they increase the chance of you getting a successful salvage on each cycle but do not increase the chance of salvage being there in the first place, nor do they increase the amount of salvage. So with a little more time, you will have the exact same results as you would have w/o the rigs. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks again for the great guide.

you need level 4 salvaging for all, but I'm not sure about super capitals as I have never salvaged one

your welcome
When a ship blows up the salvageable material is part of the wreck or not as the case may be thus have nothing to do with you as a salverger.
If you have high enought skill (rigs help here), you just have to keep going until you manage pull the salvage from the wreck. The more salavgers mods, higher skill and rigs you have the better.
when I had the skill at level 3 it took me half an hour to salvage a T2 frigae with one salvager. at level 4 with two salvager it took only a minute to do the same class of T2 frigate.

If you want a full list of materials needed for different types of rigs, just open your market, uncheck the little button for only show available. Then look at the info pull on blueprints for all the different rigs. As far as current isk value of a salvaged item... I am sure you know how to get to Jita or look on your local market for prices on the item you are looking for. Abh Empire Mining Engineer.

If I could get clarification on this -
Salvage Tackle I (+10%) stack with the skill Salvaging (+5% per level) to allow you to salvage T2 ships.
Also -
I have heard that the amount of salvage items in a wreck is predetermined as are the modules that are found inside. A higher Salvaging skill and/or Salvage Tackles only finishes the salvaging of the wreck in fewer cycles.
I have also heard small T2 ships (frigates/destroyers/cruisers?) require level 3 and large T2 ships (battlecruisers/battleships?) require level 4 salvaging skill to get the salvage items out of their wrecks.
If everything I have above is correct a character with the Salvaging skill at level 1 can salvage at least up to T2 battleships if they use two Salvage Tackle I. (Salvage I +5%)+(Salvage Tackle +10%)+(Salvage Tackle +10%) > (Salvage IV +20%) == Support fixing the EVE UI |
