One issue I noticed was with volume.
The panel commentary, fights, and fan fest interviews were fine.
The Fan Fest "EVE in 10 Years" bit was very low volume. Even with all volume controls turned up as loud as I could get them on my laptop, I just couldn't hear what Oveur was saying.
The commercials had the usual "+40 dB will make them buy more!" marketing scheme applied to them.
The "PVP dictionary" segments were also much louder than the normal broadcast.
The fan fest interviews done at the music performance were a lost cause.
---------------------------
As for everything else:
I think the rule changes were GREAT! They really gave us some good fights. Some things started to get old, but in general the fights showed a lot more variety than last time.
The panel still needs to get more professional. Stop with the stupid in-jokes, roleplayer comments, and off-color humor. Yes, the commentary was better than last time. A quick comment of "ooh, can't repeat that one on TV!" is fine (and then a drunken Oveur says them anyway). I like it being a bit light-hearted. The quick 'apology list' was great. But please, tighten up the reigns a little bit more! If I wanted more of the usual humor from the panel I'd just go play WoW instead.
All around though, I have to say great job. I definitely enjoyed this tourney even more than the last! |

1) Match of the day. 2) Quick reviews of the days game for those that missed some of them, or just to recap. 3) Team interviews prior and after the fights. 4) Alliance background stories. 5) More women. 6) Alliance seedings.(so we dont wind up with super groups. 7) More Farjung, JamesW and Trev. 8) Interview with SirMolle and Cyvvok. 9) More standings on eve-tv instead of just on the forums.(also pts difference ratio). 10) Extra nodes for tourney system. 11) Invisible lagless cage where people only can bounce back, when hitting them. 12) Less repeated talk about the same topics.
So summa summarum: More of everything, but Eve-Tv is absolutely heading in the right direction.

The interviews with the players in the tournament have actually been covered this time through siradio.fm on both weekends, for 2 hours before the eveTV stream starts. Check the relevant thread in this forum to download all 4 podcasts of those interviews.
I don't know if we'll be doing this again during the next tournament, but we'd be glad to work with eveTV again as it has been an amazing experience. Split Infinity Radio Get Loud, Get Mental http://www.siradio.fm |

On screen timer in matches.
'Selected' quotes from IRC scrolled across the bottom during panel discussions.
Clearer picture quality, i understand this is hard, but its not impossible, being able to read pilot names and have the full graphics of the game streamed to us in perfect quality is what we were crying out for this tournament. It needs to be sorted for the next one...
Spiral needs to ask more probing and controversial questions to create a difference of opinion between the panelists, he needs to ask questions that will make them disagree and have more heated discussions while then controlling the 'arguement' between the experts once there is a conflict.

Maybe have a banner at the bottom of the screen displaying Alliances involved, pilots names and shiptypes when the fight is on ? And a timer, like it was mentionned above, tho the synchronization might be a bit tricky.
If we can't have an audio interview with the gang leader (they don't all speak English), at least have him write a little summary post-fight to explain how it went on for him (like Danton Marcellus did here when he explained why there were splitting damages, see his post on this forum section).
And yes, more Oveur and Magnus. Last night's comments and discussions between fights were excellent.

#2 - Screen name tags. No need for Spiral to recite the panel members for the 19483rd time.

We really wanted to get this working for this tournament. It was one of the things that people wanted to tune in for and unfortunately its not really possible. The closest we came this time round was the prefight broadcasts on siradio.fm. I think we're looking at the logistics of setting it up, but it requires the time between matches to be longer to allow setup, testing, mic checks, etc.
Originally by: DiNoer #4 - Take a page from the sports shows and commentators. Have a few biased "in character" types have side commentator ship run. Perhaps to fill in the inter fight periods, like side show.
Hehe, this was something we hit on this time and before in the other two tournaments. As soon as you show any kind of bias the forums and irc explode. People go mad when you slight their side but when its their enemies, it's all fine. So instead we decided to be less picky and just be biased about everything!
Originally by: DiNoer #5 - Run more statistical and tactical analysis. Ifni and Farjung are awesome at this. If it where up to me I'd pick them as dedicated in fight commentators.
#6 - To fill in the afternoon breaks: have a opportunity to have challenge matches from the community. Any two groups/individuals that have pre-agreed to settle some score or issue on the field. The pick the rules and team size. Up to them to arrange it, or have the stage preset.
Again, I believe this was something we wanted to do, especially the Damige/Farjung duel or alternatively EVETV vs the MC/viewers/whoever but in the end since the time constraints were tight it never happened. It would be nice to see, but its not something that can be done time and time again unfortuantely.
Originally by: DiNoer #7 - Seen some of this on the panel, but we need more of it: need to let em more loose. Spiral, don't be afraid to ask more challenging questions like: "If you where up agains Team A, what would you do?" "Do you agree with panel member X? What would you change?" Have team members come in on Pre/Post-game TS comments. Just a few quick words.
#8 - Added value of the PIP-feature: Have a bottom screen bar run the #evetv chat room feed.
It is a SHOW; to entertain the EVE-community members. Be true to it.
Man, have you seen the IRC channel? That thing fills with spam so fast any kind of onscreen scrolling feature would be lost amid the IRC*****s/ops trying to get themselves 5 seconds of fame. Whilst it would be nice to get people interacting with the show, I can see the only kind of interaction being what we had this time round, with questions for the panel being sent to a QT or question taker, who inturn sends them to the host/director.
Some good suggestions however and I'm sure they will be considered.
You take what is offered. And that must sometimes be enough. |

Disagree on this one, sometimes I wasnt able to tune in at the beginning, and I, as many others - dont know all the faces, so had to ask in IRC couple times 'who are these guys?' each time they changed..
Suggestion about this: Make a small flash like in CNN etc, when they interview someone new, or camera focuses on new speaker, his name/position/rank flashes for 4-5 secs. Make it re-appear once an hour, that would be nice.
Next one, I would like that the GMs who manage the fights, would post the ship setups which died here on the forum or somewhere, or at the very least killmail. The point being, that when a team brings setup and it died, it shouldnt be their private secret anymore, it should be published for all to see. After all this is open to public tourney. I am sure others would love to see the setups as well.
Last but not least: Make the EvETV stream with higher quality! I understand there are bandwidth limitations, but its no good if we cant even read the players names and corp tags! Bring the resolution up just enough to be able to read their names.

As said before:
1) Name tags for announcers 2) More intuitive screen display (who is fighting, etc... maybe screen ticker?)
To go against the grain...
1) No PiP with the commentators... I tune in to see a fight, not the reactions of "experts" to what's happening. And don't we see enough of them between every fight anyway? If you want PiP, put something interesting in there: like a close-up of the ship getting pounded or the Local Channel. 2) No women just for the sake of having women! Look, I love the ladies as much as anyone else but if a person doesn't know PvP their detracting from the show, not contributing. Leave the eye-candy to commercials, segue's, etc, not the PvP Tournament.
My own idea:
1) Build some monitors into the desk or put something infront of them that allows them to see what's going on and get access to the information they need to commentate effectively. The panel wasting time by trying to guess what ships were being fielded and repeating over and over how small the icons were was annoying. If you want them to give "expert" comments, give them access to the information to do so. 2) VTC (Video TeleConferencing) with well-known players or representatives from the competing alliances. Just because they can't afford a flight to Iceland doesn't mean their contributions won't be valuable. Put them on webcam or something. 3) More segue vids! Interviews, FF footage, player vids, etc... eventually you'll have enough content to run 24/7
Hope that helps...

This is more a suggestion than a request - but can the cameramen set standings to the left hand team as blue and the right hand team as red please.
This will make it much easier to see what is going on once they start mixing it up.

I'd like to see feeds being put up the same day or the day after with all the games for those who can't be there for the live broadcast, pre-game commentary, match and the analysis after.
Not only is it nice to see but it also helps team prepare for their next opponant, getting to watch their match over and over.

Specialised tools for the commentators, such as a list of offensive/remote module types that are currently active on each ship and whom they are operating on. Then the commentators don't have to guess from the on-screen effects.
Recap of previous matches involving the teams in the next fight. Who they've beaten, ships/setups they used, how the fights went.
Expert's (or viewer's) Fight of the Round/Day, maybe with prizes for the teams.
Something to identify which team is which.
Some "Introduction to <ship class>" segments, comparing and contrasting the abilities of different ships in a class.

I'd like to see a fight between the GM's and the Experts/Commentators as a sideshow. With the Dev's taking over as commentators for that specific fight.
Could be interesting, especially if you load the commentators up with alcohol a couple of hours before kickoff

Aside from more of Oveur and Hellmar doing mic-scams or something (and ofc jungle curry), the one thing I'd want is more input from the players.
Now, I know this is restricted by 2 things: 1. Time schedule for the matches. 2. Players not actually responding and giving input.
First, I know we (TRS) submitted a short video this time, and I think we (SA) submitted one last time as well. I don't think any of them were showed. Tbh, I dunno if any player submitted videos were shown. I'd suggest showing videos submitted by the teams before the tournament starts on the first day. Announce this in good time, that each alliance gets their video shown before the tournament starts. Depending on how many submits, you could have like a 1-2 hour session on the first day to show these.
Second, perhaps I'm the only one... But 1 minute after the last match, the stream stops. And I'm sitting there staring at my screen and saying "WTF? No no no, don't stop now". Where's the time for recap and more analyzises? Keep it going. Go through the day, we have 'experts' there for a bloody reason. And by then the teams could have provided these experts with comments as well. Tbh, I doubt I'd take that opportunity. As a strategic player I very much enjoy if my team look weak. But anyway...

By ghad, you're not suggesting I should be on your vent/TS right before my match, are you? Our Vent was total chaos. Most prepared fight we had in this tourney was vs Xelas: by then we had the setup decided a good 30 minutes before the fight and everyone but the member stuck in Jita jump-que was rdy 20 minutes before the fights. The other 3 fights, ppl were still flying around buying modules with 10 minutes to go...

Having trouble interpreting the , but in case it's not meant sarcastically or anything, I'd have to suggest that you're more likely to see Hellmar in a skirt.
Also, they were all sitting behind a desk. At one point IRC was spectaculating who was kicking whose shins or whether they had Xyliana under that desk. --

Eve TV is top notch, something that you donĘt get with any other game, but few things IĘd like to see.
Widescreen broadcast. No flash stuff also pls, the WMV feed works much better as you can resize it to your needs.
How about 1v1's amongst the panel. Perhaps have a "stig" char and pick one of the panel/dev to fight them.
