CCP, This is a VERY simple change that I would imagine could be changed by next patch day.
PLEASE change the market order warning system.
I would very much like a warning that warned against putting in a buy order that is above the lowest sell order. it doesn't make an sense. lets take a look at how this works:
there is a margin trader that is buying and selling an item. the lowest sell price is 238,882 and the highest buy price is 200,000. He goes to update the buy order and slips. hits 300,000 buy mistake and hits enter. instantly the buy order goes through and he dump his entire wallet buying a 238,882 priced commodity for 300,000 each and looses all his isk margin profit for the day or week. on top of that, the other buy orders start to fail because he has no isk in his wallet and this fail-scades his portfolio costing him even more time and brokers fees.
simple fix: add a warning when you are about to obvious type a buy order.
the second scenario is also a flawed game mechanic: I am trying to bulk order a freighter full of things for an alliance fleet doctrine. I see there there are 100 items all listed in singles modified by .01 isk. I think: look, i want to buy the first 100 items on this list up to the price of the 100th item and i dont want to double click, buy, double click, buy, double click, buy 100 items. so, i put in a buy order for 100 items at the 100th price in the list. BAM! i instant buy 100 items! the catch is that i bought all of the items for the same price of the 100th item even though sell prices were listed with much cheaper prices. I wanted to pay UP TO the price of the 100th item. Now, i just gave away isk because i didn't want to double click, buy 100 items.
simple fix: when you bid for an item that has a bid price over the lowest sell price, you fill the order of the lowest sell price at that pricefirst. |

I don't think CCP should protect people from themselves. Be careful with your keystrokes and know your prices.
Market combat is a form of PVP, and mistakes like these are what differentiate between careful, skilled traders and people not paying attention.

Came for a thread about margin trading scam. Was disappointed.
Not supporting the proposed changes.
What i think is needed, as a trader, is the possibility to disable warning when setting sell orders above the market. I know I'm selling that piece of junk 10000% the average market price. Been doing that for the last six months. (Because i love scamming LS residents who are too lazy to do logi trips to Jita.) Now, let me disable that warning, and i'll be happy.

This is just my opinion; games shouldn't protect players from themselves. Even from fatfingering. Especially from fatfingering. It makes things FAR more interesting.
