So fit ECCM or Sensor boosters? Or your own ECM/Damps?

So your saying ECM/Damp them before they ECM/Damp you. So basically being a hypocrite is how everyone is supposed to play right?
Stopping them from rendering your ship useless vice versa is how the future of Eve is right?

Obviously you haven't been playing very long. When you reach 2 or so months, and (oh my god!!) dare to venture into losec, you can come back and read this, and realise how stupid you look.

ecm = limited or zero defences usually, at least was with the old system (powerfull but much better system) of jamming.

Still you.
ECM has just had a massive, massive nerf and is around half as effective as it used to be. You can fight them with amps, with your own ECM (ECM Bursts are pretty effective), FoF missiles, smartbombs, drones, you can warp out and warp back in so they have to rejam you. Plus only the specialist ships are anywhere near consistant jammers now.

/signed. If after 3 years of eve you don't realise how overpowered ecm and damps arn't then you really need to find a new game. Alternatively I offer very competitive rates on basic pvp instruction.

OK, lets compare this to RL.
There is a jet flying at my country.
We fire a ground to air missle and blow it up.
Jet pilot bails out of plane.
We put him in custody and he asks "Dude, wtf was that all about, I totaly couldn't even shoot back, can you plz nerf your missle system?". -----------------------------------------------
Fit ECCM / Sensor booster - or - be a man and live with it.

As long as there is a counter module or game mechanic for every offensive module or mechanic that is appropriatly matched the game is balanced. Each ship has a natural defense to ECM that doesn't even require a module, which in addition can be boosted using counter modules. I agree that ECM strength were a little too strong prior to the recent patch, but I suppose CCP realized that and reduced the strength of ECM's. I personaly think ECM's are useless now with any short of a specialized ship with ECM bursts (which coincidently have the draw back of having a very short range, hence balanced). Looking at the patch it would seem this is the way CCP wanted it.
I'm not sure exactly what the complaint about dampners is as they are very balanced at this point, effectivly their are good counter measures that can render a sensor dampner useless.
I think the complaint most PvP players have is that they are forced to mount something on their ship other then guns in order to be a deadly combat machine. Dare I say most pirates are looking for the easiest most effective way to completetly own someone with absolutly not threat to them whatsover. I think CCP has anticipated this power gamer mentality and put a stop to it by giving defensive weapons to people that want to avoid combat which as far as I'm concerned is not only balanced and fair, but realistic and speaks to the great continuity of the Eve universe. After all, if pirates and industrials are a reality in the game world its feasable that while pirates continuesly try to find ways to blow people up, Industrialist would continualy try to find ways to avoid being blown up.
No offense Qwerty007 but I think what you want is to eliminate anything in the game that could stop you from easily killing simingly defensless or not PvP oriented players. I realize that their is this mentality that Eve is PvP, but quite frankly if that was what Eve was all about their would be no use for the hundreds of non-pvp oriented skills in the game. Its very obvious that Eve is a lot more then just a PvP game and modules like ECM, Dampners and other counter measures to attacks are the tools for the people who basically don't want to fight and just want to escape the threat so they can go about whatever it is they choose to do in the Eve Universe.
It may seem unfair that CCP would dare protect non-pvp players, but then again it wouldn't be fair if they didn't. Are you are gamer? www.playhardliveeasy.blogspot.com |

Geez, really it isnt. The ship with the most damage, hardest tank would *allways* win. Its nice to have some supporting roles. Thanks to EW smaller ships have a chance of killing a big one and so bigger != better _________________________________________________ Breetime

1. A Sensor Booster is not enough to counter a ship with around 3 Sensor Dampeners, which is the normal ammount to use.
2. ECCM is a waste of a medium slot
You need at least 2 medium slots just to counter this silly disabling EW. I see what he's saying. Unfair is not the word for it though, I would call it poor planning from CCP, and also EW is mainly used because of the lack of other effective medium slot modules.
Dampeners should really have a very very poor accuracy falloff, ECM seems fine however seems to be used a hell of a lot on myrmidons, which to me seems they arent detered from using ECM.
Having said that fighting a pre-kali iwin domi is even worse now as they fit damps.

3x T2 sensor damps on an arazu or celestis is really, really powerful. Possibly more than ECM was, since with ecm you had at least a chance at fighting back if jams failed. I wonder if nanophoon with sensor damps as a tank would work...
Btw. stilettos with 2x sensor damps are fun.

As always you want to fit an IWin ship, its Dominix.
Highs - As much heavy nos as possible Meds - MWD, 20km scram, 3 sensor damps Lows - Nanos/Inertias
