Small post before bed:
I maxed out my retribution. It has a great tank, does insane damage for a small boat and is meant to be flown in packs.
2 examples:
- Retribution with 4 pulses and an mwd can take officer spawns - just try it out in a flock of 5, you'll see.

Yup, it's great to be Amarr :-/ |

Edited by: Christopher Dalran on 13/12/2006 22:14:27 Edited by: Christopher Dalran on 13/12/2006 22:12:28 Try this gang and you'll see where AF's shine.
Get a Celestus (or a recon equiv) and fill it with t2 dampers (make sure the pilot has high cruiser and the skill that makes the dampers more effective). Now get several AF's to go along with that Celestus. Why use dampers and not ECM? Because dampers alwayse work.
Now find a target, Damp with the celestus and have all the AF's do strafing runs at different intervals (ie. fly in close, hammer it to hell, fly out past locking range of the target so they lose their lock and have to start ALL OVER). You NEED practice, you cant just throw a group together all willy nilly and expect them to have a chance to do this. They need to be able to work together (almoast like a dance realy) so that there is never one single moment when all of them are outside the 7.5km warp disrupt range. Also if you only come across 1 person in say a BS a full load of dampers from a celestus means 4-5 AF's will blow it up before they can even get a single lock (never underestimate the damage inflicted by t2 blasters fitted with void ammo against a webbed Battleship)
Why do we use AF's for this? 1. They do a TON!! of damage 2. They are fast enough to waste little time flying in and out of the targets lock range and can do it quickly if needed 3. If the enemy does lock them anything bigger than small weapons hit them for almost nothing 4. They can change directions and warp either away or too a location in very little time.
Why dont we use Intys for this? 1. They do less damage 2. They will get blown up almoast instantly if soemone gets a lock and throws up a good web 3. We dont need their extra speed for the short distance in and out of the targets now damped locking range.
This gang works with Hit and run tactics, blow up what you want then get the hell outa dodge fast because if someone shows up specifically set up to combat small ships and sensor damps your in some real trouble because the largest ship you have is a cruiser. This is not a hinderance tho since it lets you move around very fast.
The same gang works great in another role too if you exchange the AF's for intys. Now you fly around rival corp space doing the same thing only this time to all the minerals they are mining. The celestus makes sure none of the combat ships have the ability to lock any of the Intys before they: Fly in at 2km/s, pop all the minerals in cans, then warp out.
Some of the Intys (like the gal one) gets something like a flat +50% bonus to damage and if you get enough of them you can even fly around poping barges then warping out before you can even be locked.

Anyone have some good small gang setups for a Harpy? Might go prowling a little later on, and i'd like to have a coherent setup.

I love my AFs. Fly both Minmatar and Amarr.
Jag for all around good fun, very effective ship. Artillery and ACs lots of fun. Wolf for DPS, its just not made to tackle. 20ish damage mod is nice.
Retribution, PEW PEW PEW. My god these things can dish out pain, and out to 20k or so with pulse, good tank too. I've fought off 3 ceptors and a cruiser at once in that thing.

Because some speculants are trying to fleece AF buyers ? Remember Jaguars went for 12-13 millions and when they received another midslot prices went up to 25 and more which is ridiculous we're talking about 1 midslot on a heavy frigate. I didn't buy a Jaguar until now that the price is back to a more normal 16-17 millions.

Several ships wish that they never met my vamp-kur and with an MWD i can outrun those nasty cruisers trying to kill me.
this Destroyer > AF Do not apply to all situations
I would love to see a destroyer tank a Raven for the whole battle
