problem: even in a nice alliance like mine there are some people that dont post lossmails (yeah sad but true..you can name and shame them but that would mean someone has to go through all other killboards looking for kills not posted on the own board).
i wrote a addon/mod for your killboard that does that for you. and even more.
if every killboard based on rig0rs source had this addon we could make a pretty cool network of boards all linked to each other and every board in the network would have nearly absolute accuracy regarding kill- and lossmails. this would also eliminate the need for a 'global' killboard or a database with ALL kills ever made because networking is much more powerful than a centralized data storage.
i kept in mind that everyone of you has probaly modded his own killboard to the extreme so i made the mod to only use the basic core functions of class.page, class.parser, class.killboard and class.kill and im pretty sure it will work on almost all killboard reincarnations out there.
the mod is already included in the latest version of the [D2] Killboard and i hope lots of other killboard admins will follow and also include this addon.
the mod contains three files, one file with all the classes and functions to process incoming streams, one with the admin interface and settings and one that outputs the kill data in rss format so other boards can grab that information from you and put it in their own database.
Screenshot of the admin interface : http://tomx.org/mod_feed_screen.jpg
features: - as i made the mod i always kept in mind that it should take as few server resources on the feeding server as possible, so dont fear your box will lag out if you include the mod and other people fetch from your board. it will not. - gzip compression for faster data transfers - easy to use admin interface - enter up to 99 feeds and update your board's accuracy with one click - enter a custom comment for imported kills ("post your losses ffs") - full support for page caching (if enabled in the killboards config) - exclude specific feeds from fetching - many feeds are available already and the mod is included by default in all new versions of the eve-dev.net version of the killboard - somebody even setup a dedicated master-feed-server whose only purpose is to collect, share and supply kill data to other killboards! (http://www.eve-kill.net/?a=feed) - the mod comes in two flavors, one standalone-version which you just put in your killboards dir and link it to the admin interface and one mod-version which uses the newer modding system of the eve-dev.net killboards, both included in the .zip
i succsessfully imported about 34.000 killmails in aprox. 15 minutes (!!) from the [D2] board to my testing server. speed was about 20-35 killmails per second but your results may vary.
i included a readme.txt with infos regarding installation (dump the files in the killboard's dir. *uh uh*) and some notes regarding the fetching etc.

Originally by: Lubricity Add in an option to nuke killmails from the source board and this will be the most important edition to killboards since the invention of the killboard itself.
this is by no means possible because it would expose YOUR killboard to the risk of having kills deleted remotely - by everyone.
to all you guys worrying about fake killmails poisoning the system: yeah well there is the possibility this can happen but i still believe in common sense and especially the goodwill of the eve community (maybe a bit naive tho but im ok with it).
afterall i think its not necessary for every killboard to link every other killboard.
just add the feeds of your most common friends and enemies. so you for sure get a. -> all kills where one of your players is involved but a friendly fellow got the killmail and forgot to spread it b. -> all losses from a common foe where your people forgot to post the lossmails.
right now its for the admin to decide which killboards/streams to trust and which not.
so in the case of [D2] i think i can trust the outbreak killfeed for example as those guys dont need to fake mails for their stats to look good. and im also pretty damn sure most major alliances are very trustworthy too and dont need to fake their killmails ;)
also the feed only outputs relevant kills to the requesting board and your killboard only adds the kills that are of relevance to your corp/alliance (aka. your pilots are involved) so if there is a fake killmail in board A where they faked a kill of party B your board C doesnt care at all as it not even gets the mail supplied.
afterall, i would still recommend you to go through all parsed mails and review them by hand, delete them if you think they are fake and tell us in this thread if a feed supplied fake mails more than once.
i will torture my brain tho and see if it comes up with a way to validate kills across multiple boards but bear with it

http://eve.openchat.ru/kill/index.php?a=rss
that is NOT a killfeed, its a standard RSS stream (for rss readers, google startpages etc.)
killboards with the feed_mod have links ending in /?a=feed

Originally by: Shirei If you're working on a new version at some point, it would be great if you could choose a range of weeks (or even individual weeks) to download mails for. Right now it's either 'last week' or 'all weeks' and the 'all weeks' option doesn't work with many web hosts - because the web-server may kill the request because of a time-out after a minute or two.
aye captain. will do

Originally by: Nytemaster To be honest, this thread is screaming something we all do not want to say, but there should be an Eve Killmail database, a legit foolproof system that legitimizes every claim. Have a delayed listing of 24 hours and I think everyone will be happy.
Bounty listings should also be included and carried forever over the career of the pod pilot. Who killed them and what the bounty was is a good starter.
unless ccp would give us a daily xml feed with all the info it wont happen, so:
nah.

Originally by: Ifni Just out of interest, Griefwatch has had board specific RSS feeds since day 1.
yep, well gw has an rss feed to use for like your google start page or similar. it just gives you a broad overview over what happened. in the case of the feed syndication mod i just 'raped' rss to transfer the raw kill mail data from board to board ;)
if gw would include something like this too (being able to output the whole raw killmail data via rss) this would be huge as we then could syndicate even more boards together

Originally by: DaMiGe Is it possible to automaticly sync 2 killboards? If not can it be built in?
(As in server 1 contacts server 2 every hour and checks for new killmails)
Reson for this is we joined an alliance recently and we'd like to keep both killboards up to date without posting twice.
Thanks
thats what this tool was made for
to automatically fetch kills/losses every two hours you would need to setup a cronjob on your server tho.
@DrAtomic: thx for posting the feed-list of post #2 (the one im keeping uptodate) here, AGAIN..
great job. next time dont forget the quote tags.
PS: i will remove TauCetiFederation from the feed-list as i encountered several (20+) killmails being player-modified or faked while fetching them for the [D2] board. this is simply unacceptable, be accidental or w/ intention. a tcf admin can contact me for kill-id's and details ofc..

BTW as a suggestion, maybe add a centralized feed config. I.e. a when a new board launches it has the option to register itself as being public, then gets added to the config and that config is automaticly parsed with all requesting boards.
Cheers, DA
awesome idea! i already thought of something alike. this will prob. a major addon in the v1.6.
playground: you run the feed-admin for the first time, it will ask you to reg. your board with the central server. it sends a request to the server giving the kb-feed url and the KB_SITE description. then it asks you want to see a feed-list of all regged. feeds sorted by alliance and corp, then lets you select the ones you want. maybe a counter with every feed showing how many ppl fetch from the board so stats could be generated aka. most fetched board or something..
..coming soon(tm)

1. if my corp is in an alliance and i run a killboard for our corp, how can i make this thing grab kills from the alliance's kb where corp mates of mine were involved in the killing?
2. since i'm not entirely sure: is the feed of this kb compatible with your mod? http://fla.direkt.ro/
1. just add your alliance's killboard to the feed list and check the 'friends' box
2. yeah, the feed is compatible but the 'friends' feature i mentioned above is just available since v1.5 so go and update both, your corp kb AND your alli kb to v1.5

well, eve bored me quite a bit and i tried several other games. in the meantime my domain tomx.org got taken over by some cash spam marketing bull**** (thats the reason the automatic updater didnt work).
im happy to see lots and lots of boards still using my mod tho and glad the guys over at eve-dev kept on developing the mod for further usability. *if* i have big time on my hands ill try to contribute again somehow.. stay tuned ;)
