Yes, lets ignore new problems until CCP fixes the old ones that have been around for a year. Nevermind that they might actually fix more than one problem while they are working on it.

First off: use manual for dropping bubbles. Second: Fit more then one launcher on your dictor.

Did you read my post at all? It's not practical to use manual to launch bubbles because the gate is unbubbled 25% of the time.
When you find a good dictor setup with 2 bubble launchers come back and let me know, k?
Just something like 2 dictor launchers, some small guns mwd and web as many co-procs as you need and some nanos. As good as a dictor setup needs to be tbh.

I've taken to launching a bubble ONLY when a new target comes local. Hence the gate does not need to be bubbled 100% and I use less bubbles. Still 99% effective other than the loggers. Once thats fixed, well, only the things I want to get by get by.

That's what most small gate camps do, but it's not very effective for large groups/when you're on the move and it's hard to watch local. Also, more than once I've had a target enter local on a bubble that's already been deployed, wait 15 or so seconds until the bubble drops, then warp off while everyone on TS is shouting "bubble now, now, now!" It sucks...

Wouldn't that be the point of normal support cruisers and tacklers, to you know, catch the people the bubble stops?

I mean they jump into my gang's system, and see that there's a bubble up. While sitting cloaked, they wait about 15 seconds and notice that my bubble has dropped. Since I can't pop a new one, they simply decloak and warp away as usual (stabs and/or speed preventing support from stopping them). This happens quite often

Fit two sphere launchers. Problem solved.

HAVE YOU EVER FLOWN AN INTERDICTOR? I fly Sabres, second highest CPU, just below Flycatcher. 285 with max skills. 85 with 2 launchers. 60 with a MWD II. That's a whopping 60 CPU to fir 6 hi slots, 3 med slots, and 2 low slots. 11 Slots, 60 CPU, not gonna happen. Ohh how I would hate to be an Eris/Heretic pilot with two launchers fitted. Hell I don't even know if they can even fit two launchers.
It's easy for you to say "yeah but you're only job is to launch bubbles don't even need guns." It's not like that. I see small gangs with dictors consistently doing top damage. Dictors are just as important as tacklers, damage dealers, bubble droppers, etc. You can't expect a pilot to gimp his ship just to "fix" a broken game mechanic. Maybe in a mega 200v200 fleet battle all a dictor needs to do is drop bubbles, but if that was always the case then keeping a gate bubbled 100% of the time would not be an issue, everyone would fly Heretics because they cost less than cruisers, and you wouldn't see 99% of dictor pilots complaining.
Problem not solved.

Il post my Eris setup to explain abit further. 2 Sphere launchers 6 t2 75mm rails
mwd web
2 co-procs 2 nanos
How much differance will that 50(?) extra dps you get from fitting more/bigger guns make to a gang of 10 ppl? Once the bug with more then one sphere in same grid gets fixed you will have even more reasons to fit more sphere launchers. Things get changed, either you adapt or you whine.

I'm not trying to start a personal flame war here, but we have both deviated from the point of my original post (why does autorepeat have no reactivation delay, while manual does, and the problems this causes to highly skilled dictor pilots. I find it hard to believe that is intended, so I'm complaining here about a bug). The point is not that I/other pilots refuse to adapt. If CCP intended for us to fit 2 launchers they shouldn't have taken the delay off autorepeat. OR even better, they need to fix that fact that dictor 1 is better than dictor 5. That's the main issue here.
Eris has the luxury of 4 low slots and the wonderful lack of med slots that makes that setup possible. Sabre has two less low slots (no co-procs, some kind of speed mod is necessary to catch fast stuff in small gangs) and 2 more med slots, which means waaaay more CPU requirements. For small gangs the difference between a 1-launcher setup (excellent dps, very fast) and a 2-launcher (slow, less DPS, gimped meds) is huge.
I also happen to be a member of the ever-dying solo PVP club, and it's not possible at all with 2 launchers, and difficult to catch stuff with 1. Again, if this nerf of dictors was intended by CCP, then I 100% accept it, but they need to fix the skill problem and manual/autorepeat accordingly.

If its not in features or patchnotes then it is a bug. I dont see "nerfing dictor bubbles" in either - so bug.

I just recently finished training Interdictor I. The bubbles last 120 seconds, and my Rate of Fire and Reactivation Delay are both 108 seconds.
So even with just 1 level of Interdictor I can't just automatically run the launcher on auto.

Edited by: Di Jiensai on 19/01/2007 11:40:58 To keep it short:
OP says, higher levels in dictor skill are useless, which is wrong.
The point is, when you leave the launcher on autorepeat, you will use more bubbles/time with higher skill, but with leve5 in interdictors, your rate of fire and also your reactivation delay will be 60 seconds. This means that with level 5 in dictor skill, you can launch bubbles manually and still keep a gate permanently covered, because 120 sec * 50% = 60 sec * 2 = 120 sec which ist the time one probe lives.
So having that skill on lvl5 is a big benefit.
But there are still 2 problems: 1) when you throw out bubbles on autorepeat, the launcher will fire a bubble when the first one is still alive. This leads to targets beeing able to warp of. I think this might be because the game doesnt check the distance to all bubbles in a grid, but stops after the first result says "out of range of bubble" and lets the ship warp. If this is correct, it would only be a problem if the interdictor moves. But last time i used a dictor, i was sitting still at a gate and had bubbles on auto (not lvl5 yet), and targets well withing the bubble could warp off. They might have done the logoffski, or something else went wrong. i dont know whats wrong here. maybe 2 dictor bubbles cancel each other out sometimes (see problem 2).
2) If a small bubble (probably all, but i just tested with a small) is in the same grid, the Dictors bubble is not working at all. which is realy annoying.
So, to summ up:
Interdictors skill is working, but the autorepeat is broken, and ignores the reactivation delay. which leads to low skill Dictors beeing able to permanently bubble a gate, which is probably not intended. And sometimes doesnt work, because of the "2 active bubbles on same grid is a problem"-thing.
Solution: Train interdictor skill to lvl5 and use manual. Or: Bug CCP until someone looks at it. (QA guys, play with interdictors please and see what happens!)
Oh, and until one of these 2 things happens for me, i will use my 2 launcher eris.

die necro! DIE
you're better off starting a new thread and linking to this one I'd say
anyway, as far as I know, the bubbles can't be autorepeated now, so the higher the level in dictor the better (once again), but it's now impossible to permabubble a gate no matter what with one dictor
of course, they seem to have fixed the "two bubbles one grid" problem, so 2 dictors can easily permabubble with no risk of bubbles cancelling each other out

heh, I fly a dictor everyday, let me say this....... to the changes made.... THANK YOU!!!!
I can overlap bubbles and they ALL work. I can put one bubble out, and then before it goes down put another one out on a different target. I can do this in a cheap ship (amarr dictor, to all you minmitar..... HA!!!)
