am i right in thinking that Gatorade, if it is not lucozade is very similar to that horrible brightly coloured crap called 'PowerAde'
Also why don't you call crisps - crisps?? _______________________________________________ -Behind This Mask There Is More Than Flesh, Behind This Mask Is An Idea Mr. Creedy...And Ideas Are Bulletproof- |

Originally by: blistech Well I'm an Aussie, and we have gatorade, poweradem, boots, biscuits, beef jerky, marmite (its not the real thing, tastes completely different). And most of the other things the UK have (but no Jaffa Cakes ). We can also spell Now, who here has vegimite? BTW, my parents are english so I've been there quite a few times.
I love australians. You guys manage to take the best bits of the UK, the best bits of the US, and create the abomination of taste that is vegemite...
Seriously though, only a few people really eat vegemite here. Its mainly here for the tourists.

Originally by: FooB2 i once told an american that in the UK we have to have a liscence to legally watch TV.
he nearly fainted over vent. apparently they didnt know this.
i know its how things like the BBC are paid for and why the BBC has better programing then our PBS here in the US.
my question is how do they handle hotels? i mean every room in a hotel has a TV set does a hotel pay for 600+ sets or does the TV authority have special setups for such locations(ie a bulk contract similar to Enterprise level software licensing).
oddly enough here in the US if you have cable you in a way pay a per home TV tax in this little thing called a franchchise fee

Makes sense really, since most people are right handed, so you want to keep that hand on the wheel as much as possible. Thus right hand drive.

when its a left hand drive car with a manual gearbox, not really.
i heard that its because henry ford figured it was cheaper to have the steering wheel on the left (for some reason)

The whole difference in the driving customs (between world and UK ok and a couple other countries) is from what i have read that during the middle ages where hand guns where not known (or used) that this way it was keeping your sword (which was resting on your left lap for the right handed thus majority) out of reach of the by passer. Also it brought the sword arm in the road immediately which was easier for defense against thugs and other threats coming from the opposite side of the road.
It was a custom that was passed along to the car drivers (logical if we realize that car and horses co existed for some time) I have read it once (don't remember though where) as an explanation for that strange way to drive in UK. The rest of the nations that adopted this was due to British influence. Maybe i am wrong (i am not from UK) maybe i am right.
------- Nobody can be exactly like me. Even I have trouble doing it. |

Jaffa Cakes are basically a sort of cake/biscuit thing, with orange jelly-stuff on top, and then the top (including the orange stuff) is covered in chocolate.
They are half biscuit, half cake and all awesome.

Mountain Dew is a kinda lemonade style soft drink I think. Beef Jerky is some odd salty dried beef thing Gatorade is not (I hope) made from Alegators. Marmite OWNS. End of discussion. Vegemite has a green jar (iirc) therfor it sucks. ... -----

the driving thing started with carraiges. most countries that are left hand drive are influneced by the UK. thailand being on of the few non UK colonies to have left hand drive. and i belive they were modernized via UK efforts 100+ years ago.
The Us did it to be opposite of the english after the revolutionary war.(war for independace) i myself prefer right hanbd drive as i find it easier to steer with the left hand since the advent of power steering. and find i need my dominate hand to shift gears. but i have feeling that is more how i learned to drive.

I would say Japan driving on the left is more unusual than Thailand. Thailand afterall, is sandwiched between former British colonies of Malay (now Malaysia) and Burma.
As for which is better to drive on the left or the right, well having done both, neither seems any better than the other you get used to whichever you do more. But the use of your right hand to steer, as more people are right handed makes sense...
Now American football - wtf is that all about?

They are legally cakes actually as this means they can avoid having to pay VAT on them, if they were biscuits they would, since a 'chocolate-covered biscuit' is a luxury item.
