We have had these speciality cargo bayed haulers for a while now. I have built a few, and flown countless hours moving stuff around. I would like to request that the PI, Mineral, and Ore Gallente haulers be merged into a single ship.
Why? Overall it simplifies the game. Reduces database items across a number of areas. Makes logistics a little bit easier for the people who mine in one system and haul to another to refine and then haul to another for production (null sec stations for example) or to a market hub.

The issue is what to do with the actual hulls. They didn't want to remove them, which would cause a big mess with BPO's and what not, but they didn't want to make them compete with other ships. |

So, you want one ship with a big cargo hold that can hold anything? Good idea! Too bad there's nothing like that in the game already...
The Five Gallente haulers have been in the game since the beginning. When industrials were re-balanced, the Iteron 2, 3, and 4 and the Hoarder were re-purposed so that no ships were removed from the game, and they would still have a purpose. They serve a unique purpose that adds options and variety, not complexity. You want to haul everything in one ship? There are plenty of ships for that already. |

The first option would be patently overpowered. The second option would be considerably less useful than the existing ships. The third seems outlandish from a both a gameplay and coding standpoint.
Hauler management isn't that hard, and once you hit DSTs you can just use the fleet hangar instead of the specialist bays.

Guys, I have been in the game for a while. I was there when they changed these hauls in the first place.
it isn't that hard to change BPOs, CCP has done it before and can do it again. it would be a single hold that can haul the 3 types, PI, minerals and ore. I have the ability of the DST - and used it for a long time so I wouldn't need to use the t1 hauls anymore. I moved a good number of jumps and had to revert to the t1 hauls for about two weeks while I wait for Jump bridges and such to come back online.
Arguing to keep 3 hauls, that could easily be merged and any existing ship/bpo(c) could be changed via script at patch time, is just a stupid way to hold on to the past and not look at ways to make the game easier (in some ways) as well as remove unneeded bloat.

CCP is on a march to make specialized roles for virtually every ship in the game why should your haulers be any different? I hate what they did to my favorite ships as well, so when I get the old Worm, Gila and Rattlesnake back I will support your calls for a remake of the haulers or a return to what they used to be whichever you prefer.
Until then my answer is things change, sometimes we like those changes and sometimes we do not so adapt, get over it and move on.
So there is no confusion -1 to your OP idea.

you still have the iteron mk 5 that can do all of what you said.
ccp rebalanced it to take into account varying needs of the game, not all people are miners, not all people do p.i .
eve online has developed into a beautiful game the 2.5 years ive been playing,ok, we have had updates that sucked. but the gallente hauler suggestion you are posting about doesnt have any grounds to have it introduced, ccp would just be going back to the old style of game play which that wil NOT happen so -1 to your idea

Having specialized haulers allows each of them to be more efficient at what they do. If you replace them with a more generic version that can do more things, it'll have to trade efficiency for versatility, and all the people using one of the specialized haulers will (rightfully) complain because their key ship just got replaced by a more generic version for no valid reason.
You must keep the specialized versions for people who actually use them for their specialty. If you want to do more things with one ship, well, take a non-specialized hauler, that's exactly what they are for. |

This post pretty much sums it up.

-1 We need more different ship in this sandbox game. More diversity - more fun. So instead of removing Hoarder, Miasmos, Kryos or Epithal we need amarr T1 industrial to transport fitted frigs without need to skill into ORCA or Bowhead. 280000 m3 should be enough to carry 10 fitted frigs, if I am not mistaken. |

Ugh...so much status quo fapping.
These ships don't add variety. They don't add choices. They add nothing but extra ship names to a list. They exist because CCP didn't want to deal with the hassle of removing ships from the game. They painted themselves into a corner (as they frequently do) and took the easy way out. They made up some stupid fluff reasons for why a ship is better at hauling X as apposed to Y, and then called it "specialization". It's a design cop out, nothing more, nothing less. And frankly, they're never going to change it because it just doesn't impact the game that much.
Op, the best advice I can give you is to get an Occator. It has a huge fleet hangar that can carry anything, and a bunch of low slots for a big fat general cargo hold too. With max skills and fit for cargo it can carry like 90k m3. |

I do fly the T2 Gal Hualers - at the time of this post, I was in the process of having them JFed into the null-sec area in which I now live. I was stuck with the t1s (as I had the BPCs and minerals to build them) for like a week, and I felt strongly to post on this topic, as after even a few days, the hassle of jumping... doing job x. jumping back picking up another ship. heading back to pick up the refined goods just became annoying...
When CCP made these ships as they are today - i lived in hi-sec, mined and refined in the same system. produced in the same system... b/c NPC stations are not limited to one per system, and generally, if you found the right one, you could do about everything in them.
That was nearly 2 years ago - and i stand by the belief that things have to evolve and adopt to survive. even video games (there are a few 8/16 bit ones that are epic though)

Specialized hauler is not made for that job.
Very-large-regular-cargo-bay ship is what you're looking for.

It is so strange that so many people argue to keep 3 ships, when one could be made to do all three jobs as a specialized hauler.
Let's look at a few points 1: Not every player will have the skills from the start to fly T2 industrials (and even they don't have the cargo space like these specialized ones do for the job)
2: Another note - yes there are general T1 hulls that can be set up to hold a lot, but I think the cap is 40km3. So at max skills your still 20-25k m3 off from the specialized.
3: My main point is this, why do we need three specialized ships when they could effectively be merged into one and cause less back and forth for players.

How is a specialized ship not made for that job. Ship one hauls ore to refining Player than has to fly back and pick up ship 2 to take the minerals from the refining array b/c ship one can not carry them.
