Was looking for a new mmorpg to get into. Found mmorpg.com on google search. Saw EVE as the #1 rated mmorpg. Watched official trailer... here I am a year later.

Downloaded the 14 day trail in July 06 and now i have 2 accounts Oh how i wish i had started EVE back then, but what can you do hehe.

Thank you
Swedish pc gamer here too. I went to a store and bought it, and the guy selling it was also a Eve addict, telling me to say goodbye to my social life from here on.

I think it was in the battlecruiser online forums. I thought eve was a flying database. Where's the joystick? I just read about it, but didn't sign up as it was an MMO and I couldn't see playing one.
After I bought Master of Orion and it sucked royally I realized how much money I was wasting several times a year on dumb games that did not last. Plus, I like to play online but was missing that sense of community you get when you see the same players again and again like when I played warcraft on the old kali servers. ____ If your not dyin' your not tryin'. |

Read about it in a magazine just after it was released. Seemed to be hyped as an MMO version of Elite, which I totally had to try.
Turns out its nothing like that really, but so, so much more. Never looked back ================

Was flying to Scotland for a training course and read an artical about it in the the free copy of Edge they handed out (got to love BA).
Was like all my game dreams had come true (used to love Elite when I was a kid), so signed up for the Beta test and was hooked. I didn't join Eve as a paying member for a few months after release because it wasn't ready imho and didn't want to pay to beta test. Sure glad a come back though Does my bum look big in this cape? |

Edited by: Nate D on 16/12/2006 11:31:44 I was looking for a space game... I found Eve about a week after they had announced that Earth and Beyond would be discontinued... E&B was still accepting new players and I really wanted to play E&B but I had to "settle" on EVE because I didn't want to get into a game and have the plug be pulled. I was searching to find out more about the closure of E&B and found a link about how EVE was opening it's arms to the now old E&B community...
Well settling on EVE was the best decision I have ever made (gaming wise)... I didn't stay because of the game... I stayed because of the community. The people playing EVE are some of the greatest people that I have ever met! Don't get me wrong though... I love the game too... <3
I also stayed because about a week after creating my nubby char I was brought into a private chat with "Prospero 1" of the STAR ISD team... he asked me if I needed anything and was very helpful with my questions and haha didn't seem to be annoyed with my nubbiness... And I've applied for the STAR program several times since then... with no luck...

I played allegiance, a space first person team shooter simulation game, from roughly summer 2004 to summer 2005. In the end I was getting pretty bored with it and was looking for a new game. For a long time my pentium 3 500Mhz limited the choice of availble games pretty much. Then in 2005 I got a new computer.
Now it was Lord Spidey, creator of muffins and mayhams, that posted a link to eve online on the allagiance boards. I asked him for a trial key and was immeadtly hooked.
I think that guy brought alot of people over to eve, sad enough he got banned a few months ago.

I used to play 'Freelancer' on the net. I checked out Eve (this was sometime in 2003) and wanted to play, but at that time I was still in the old mindset of "Why should I pay monthly for a game I've already bought? Other online games I just buy once".
I didnt come back to Eve until some years later.
I needed more isk, so I took a risk. I mined some ore then fled once more. I'll return to the core to escape the war! |

Interesting to see how many people came from Freelancer, it was a great game, and because I heard EVE was like it, is what got me really into it ____________________________________________ EvE +NLINE - T+TALHELLDEATH SUPPORTER What's missing here? Guess correctly and receive a free cookie. |

Some friends were already playing for some time.
They showed it to me and others, and then we more or less all signed up ans started playing ever since.
Had ups and downs considering playing time, but apparently we're all still here doing our 'thang'. Must be something that still appeals to us about Eve, eh?

My two buddies and I had just quit UO for the last time, where we had been griefing as best we could for like three years.
We pretty much gave up hope on any game ever being as fun as UO, and then one of my buddies read an article in a gamers mag about Eve Online and how the m0o corp had been sitting on the other side of loading zones (jump gates) and killing people before their screens loaded.
Although the review pretty much bashed eve for allowing this to happen, me and my buddies saw infinite potential __________________

was invited to the first stage of beta, however, due to me being on a dial up connection, i never dl'd it :(
was playing dark age of camelot, was getting extremely bored and burnt out of it; with the entire EA merger, and the fact "what's-his-nuts" didn't address the DAOC customers (but addressing the warhammer crowd)...
i quit.
saw a couple people on VN that mentioned eve, so I figured i'd give it a go since I'm obviously on high speed now.
and... here we are today

arround last christmas time i read a really cool story in PC-GAMER( north american version) about a merc corp infiltrating a corp at all lvls and eventually killing the ceo and stealing all corp assests - it sounded really interesting, so i tried the 14 day free trial - rest is history as they say.
It's just a game........Or is it?????

Edited by: Craeg Harrow on 28/12/2006 21:47:01 Edited by: Craeg Harrow on 28/12/2006 21:45:56 I was one of those poor souls duped into buying EnB w/my roomate @ college at the time. We got into small guild, but after playing for a month or two, we realized that EnB sucked hardcore - it had ZERO depth. Luckily, while mining some gas cloud i think, one of our EnB guildies mentioned something about a game called EVE. I searched for the site, applied to the beta forums and became instantly addicted before I even got a chance to see the game. Spent time @ work printing up dev irc chats & forum threads so I could read on the sly.
Then one day near the end of my senior year of college I started to freak out - I got into the beta (late) of both EVE & Planetside! I kept saying over and over to myself as I stared at the the disks....'I have to graduate....I have to graduate...I have to graduate'
Played EVE beta for a bit as well as P-Side, and did manage to graduate. I bought P-Side so i could play w/ my clan, but couldn't join retail EVE as I couldn't afford 2 MMO subscriptions...Did eventually buy the game a few years ago and have played off and on suffering through moves and periods w/out internet access....hopefully am here to stay for a good long stretch

Early 2003. Flatmate and neighbour were both doing the beta thing but it looked a bit rough around the edges for all of us. Went back to Freelancer.
May 2004. Previous flatmate subscribed after taking another look at the game a year later. He told my current flatmate, who in turn eventually convinced me to sign up as well.
