I found out about it in December 2000, in issue 40 of PC Zone Benelux. There was a nice preview of it in there, so i looked up the site and applied for beta asap (might have been a bit later, after which i signed up for the Krath Imperium, which was one of the 5 corps with over 100 members iirc.

Edited by: Wizzkidy on 29/12/2006 11:42:46 One of my german friends mentioned the game about 2 years ago (maybe a year and a half). At that time I didn't play any mmorpg's but he said it was very "elite" like
So I gave it a try and LOVED it.
Then I managed to get my cousin playing then my dad and then 5 people from the office I work in

I was bored and downloading some game demos for my past time. I was like crap, crap, megacrap with all of them. None of them seemed to suit my feeling. Then I bumped into eve-online, I was like hmmm... But for my dissapointment, no demo avail or anything. I think there was just some video. But hey! They had a call for beta testers!
I wrote in an application and got accepted

PC gamer had a two page guide to starting out in eve about three years ago. I hadn't heard of the game or played any MMO's at that point, and it looked incredible.
The guide turned out to be a piece of crap, but the game is still the best out there imo.

Never touched an MMO until I happened to read a slashdot.org article about EvE. Needless to say I have stuck around.....

Read about it on some game forum and the open nature and trading aspects piqued my interest. Tradewars 2002 is one of my favorite games from years ago and EVE sounded like a modern successor.
Related to this topic is a thread I posted, "What inspired your interest in space combat and EVE?" There were a lot of responses of Elite, Wing Commander, Freespace and Star Wars but also mention of things like the Night Dawn trilogy novels, Colony Wars, and David Weber books.

Hah, so there are people like you out there. I've read accounts from gaming retail employees that their biggest (and surprisingly common) customer is the one who walks in once a week, asks "What's new?" and buys that.

I have seen the banners in Stratics while playing Ultima Online, clicked them many times but i cant play 2 MMORPG at the same time. UO was slowly fading out (7+ years there), then the GHSC "Great Scam" story was in every site and in RL nationwide newspapers in Italy. Downloaded the trial and the rest is history.

I used to play BF1942 and I remember some guys one night talking about Star Wars Galaxies, they were fanatical about it so I asked if you could download it and they said no you had to go out and buy it, then some guy in the background mentioned some game called "Eve" which was space based and I could download.
Took me about an hour to download, finally downloaded it at 2am in the morning. I was still playing at 10am and I knew the game had me, big time!

Wife banned me from playing Xbox in the other room, said it was unsociable. Bought a new laptop on the pretence that I would use it to scan/edit all her old photos whilst being in the same room as her, when in fact I was going to use it as a game machine...hehe. Many years ago used to play Elite on the BBC Micro model B. Remembered enjoying it, so Googled to see what was available these days.....and found Eve!

I heard about Eve in a PC games magazine back when it was still in beta, tougtht it looked a nice concept, nice screens, but I was totally opposed to the idea of a monthly subscription.
About a year later, I decided it was too good to pass up, sub or not. ------------------------------------------ Every ship has a base 60-70% resist against the primary damage type of the race that is the least able to vary it's damage types. |

I was selected as beta-teser for another MMOG. Somehow I end-up reading the MMORPG entry at Wikipedia and there I saw a reference to EVE. After reading the EVE entry I decided to take the 14 day trial. So, here I am.

I got fed up with Everquest this summer ( after playing it for 4 years ) so decided to try something else while I wait for Vanguard to launch. Asked around on game forums , some people recomended EvE so I started playing it.
I`m totaly NOT a PvPer but I still like it , the comunity is okay , depends on Vanguard if I stay or leave in few months.

An ex-girlfriend let me know about the beta; been playing ever since. Strangely enough, she didn't like EVE because the death penalty was too high and left before release.

Got the demo disk and EON at the last E3 show (May 2006). CCP had a big booth, I thought, "I've never heard of this game, but they have a big booth and it looks cool so I'll give it a try. This magazine looks pretty professional and has a lot of details in it." Been playing ever since.
