This is a small Excel Spread Sheet designed to help pod pilots optimize their ship tanks, without actually destroying ships in the process.
Essentially you enter your tanking statistics for up to four setups you want to test. Then the spreadsheet calculates how long your ship will last under various amounts of DPS (50-2500). The spreadsheet takes into calculationą
Shield Hit Points Shield Recharge Shield Resists Shield Boost Rate
Armor Hit Points Armor Resists Armor Repair Rate
Structure Hit Points Structure Resists
As we all know getting your tanks to be able to resist a certain amount of incoming fire is fairly straight forward, but calculating how long your tank will survive when dealing with more then that requires some hefty calculations, this spread sheet is designed to allow you to compare four setups (or even ships) and see which setup is most efficient. You will find many setups outperform in different categories, and thus you want to optimize for how much incoming fire you expect to take.
Example Graph Produced
Revisions 0.1.0 Updated with Shield and Structure calculations Created separate pages for setups and EVEO graphs

Helpful Hints - For small gang warfare focus on 500-1500 DPS incoming damage, for bigger gang warfare focus on 1500-2500 DPS. - Enter your setups in Quickfit and transfers resists over to spreadsheet - Enter zero for Shield, Armor, and Structure to disregard a particular ship (exclude in calculations)

Does it take into account capacitor size, use, and then the cap use of weapons or other systems also running as well as cap boosters?
I ask because that Apoc seems to be running an awful long time compared to that Thron. ---------------------------------------- Thou Shalt "Pew Pew" |

No. This is pretty impossible to calculate without getting the calculations too complicated. It purely looks at the DPS the setup can tank. If you decide you want to full a BS full of capacitor charges you can run them for six minutes straight, the graph goes up to ten minutes so you had better hope your capacitor can cope with that. Anyways, you will very rarely get higher tanking times then your capacitor boosters will last for one fight, and if that's the case don't run your repairers continuously.
And yes, that Apocalypse is supposed to run more, it's a Tanking Apocalypse while we have a Ganking Megathron being compared, it's just for show here.

How does it factor in resists? Average damage of the 4 types?

Yes, if you're so inclined you can set all resists to one value if you're focusing on some damage type in particular.

Can you change the axis on the graph? [I dont have access to excell where I am, so i cant check]
It makes more sense to have DPS on the y and time on the x. At least it does to how my mind operates[I, and I assume others, associate length with horisontal movement and time and height with vertical movement and "bigness" which is better represents the damage/second numbers] ---------------------------------------- Thou Shalt "Pew Pew" |

I am adding on a graph to do that, but...
Both ways are perfectly valid, you may think of it as...
I can take this much of a beating, how long will I last? or I want to last this long, how much DPS should I take?
To me the first way of thinking about it makes more sense, most of the time you want to survive longer and see which tank allows you to do that.
Look at the sheet, it'll make sense.

Great little tool, I just downloaded it and messed with some setups on the test server... interesting to see the differences between passive shield tanks and active shield tanks in this way.
Thanks for all your hard work

fantastic sheet m8.
Any chance of making the graphs allow for more dps? Some of my set-ups are poorly displayed as you've only allowed a max of 2500dps. Although this is fanatastic for new players and basic set-ups some of us carebears tank a tad more than 2500.
Brilliant piece of work though.

I will expand it later, although if you're refering to missioning or ratting, no mission puts that much DPS out on you (top is about 1500), the only carebearing thing that involves tanking more is doing high end complexes.

Maybe you could add a cell where we can put in our own dps number...for capital tanks etc

Already ahead of you. Will be releasing 0.1.1 today with custom DPS values, and an update for tracking.

^^
I've released an update to the first version.
Bug Fixes: Graphs III and IV were accidently trying to find non-existant data for structure, thus they did not take structure into account. This has now been fixed.
Features: I have allowed people to enter their own custom values for DPS (Do I need more fields for this?), as well as created an eve-o style graph for these custom values. These are sorted by order in the sheet and not by values, so if you want nice graphs you will need to enter custom DPS in incrementing order.

Added a major update to the sheet.
A Welcome Screen will provide more abridged information as well as a guide to using the tool, from entering setups to reading the graphs produced, to a rundown of FAQs and known issues.
Surivability Sheet will now allow you to enter custom modifiers to change the DPS values used, as well as custom fields doubled.
DPS to Break Sheet finished and (hopefully) working flawlessly, now comes in a neat blue color.

Thanks, bug reports and suggestions are just as appreciated as well =) I'm sure there are quite a few I haven't discovered yet, especially with the program being pretty much doubled.
