Alright, short and easy answer, if you could launch for yourself then you could launch while in a noob corporation...which means you can't be war decced, which means basically no one can hurt you or your POS efforts, eliminating risk from the situtation. No risk means people if they so chose could drop POS's everywhere, and for anyone to try and take down the POS, while its offline or what have you, will have to take security hits across the board for attacking a strategic asset that should have some attatched accountability. So basically, the point of only being able to launch for a corporation is so that the owners have to remain accountable.

can't anchor a pos unless you have the starbase config role
while you are in noob corp you don't have the starbase config role for the newb corp, so no nub corp pos

The thread is about allowing individuals to anchor their own POS's...if that is allowed then what I described would be the result.

I agree with the sov issues.
and ritchler maybe its you who needs to calm down a bit. Each of the points brought up by the people answering your question are very valid and explain why ccp does not allow solo anchoring of POS's. If anyone could anchor a pos for themselves it would bring chaos imo. specially doing empire anchoring. In empire if you anchored a CT for yourself who ever tried to attack it would get smacked by concord which would basically make the tower untouchable.
I agree with keep it a corp function like it was inteded to be. And if it upsets people that much that they cant anchor their very own POS then maybe WoW is more their speed imo

Edited by: Sexorella hotz on 20/12/2006 07:05:28 Not to flame or whatsover, though I'm drunk atm, just got home and what to say my peace...I think the biggest issue about launching for self is the fact that people need to be able to go at war with you. In high sec, if you go to the effort to develop the standing, your POS is invulnerable as is with the help from CONCORD, but in LOW sec, if people want your moon, they need to be able to attack you directly, and I think its a right they have. If you can launch from a noob corp, then that kills hte one hope they have. A low sec POS requires no real effort besides investment, which is something you can develop from a noob corp. Forcing you to launch it as a CORP asset requires that your corp be willing to defend it. If you launch it as a individual, you're given way too much invulnerability. A POS is a logistic effort, and that logigistic effort should be possible to interfere with, based on the gains you can get from it. Which requires poeple be able to declare war on the holders of the POS. War cannot be declared on individuals, but on corporations, which in my opinion, should be an option, and why POS's will never be allowed to be launched by individuals, end of story. Time to pass out, cheers

Damn dude, being a **** over game mechanics, anonymity=douche bag all the time...any POS can be shot at is a fact, but for most corps, shooting down a low sec POS is not an option, they are much, much harder to take down then put up.
I've personally run POS's and I've been involved in alliance POS warfare for some time, I guess I have no clue, but seems to me there'd be POS's everywhere from noobs like yourself who just wanna put them down for the **** of it and let them go to waste, and then people will have to waste their time and money popping your offlined POS, as it will be when you realize it was a waste of time, or your solo effort burned you out on the game and you left.
Empire POS would also obviously be an issue, cause any player can personally get the standings to drop a POS in empire, what makes it hard is getting corp standings in a reasonably sized corp, so we'd have fields of POS's in empire, wouldn't that be fantastic...
As for being able to shoot at the owner of the POS, that's just as important as being able to shoot the POS itself, and a much easier way to get the damn things shut down, much easier than fielding a fleet of dreads if the guy actually has good defenses on it. That's why they shouldn't be able to do it from a noob corp, anyways, enjoy your rant and enjoy being a **** about it.

if you personsonaly put up a pos what is the point, if it's for self then no one else in the corp can use or to fuel it. He can't count for sov because, you guess it has it's part of a alliance, only corporations are part of an alliance, not a single player.

The only way i can see for u to have your own pos is to create an alt and start ure own one man corp.
I dont know where u want to set this pos up or what ure going to do with it but this method will probbably stop u from setting it up in either empire hi sec or alliance 0.0, u may be able to set one up in npc 0.0 though, then all u have to do is log ure alt out at the pos set a password on the forcefield and ure main can then have access for fuel delivery etc.
i think this will solve most of ure problems

Gotta few questions:
-If you are not war decced can the POS be shot? (defended by Concord)
-If war decced can you offline modules and online defending modules while having a corporation standing lower than the system requirement?
-If the corporation standing drops will you lose access to the tower?
-What is the best way to get a 5.0-7.0 faction standing?
-Could I hire someone?
-why am I asking these questions...?
-Oops? ----------------------------------------------

I'd also would like to run a personal POS within a corp. Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed dimensions of 400x120 pixels and filesize of 24000 bytes -Taiatia (mods@ccpgames) |

To the people saying that POS's aren't a solo deal, well your wrong I've personally maintained 2 Larges + 1 Small running rations in 0.0 Solo. Its really not that difficult. It takes time thats all.
Finnaly, if you want to have your own POS make your own corp, get your CEO or a director to set it to +10 and drop it with an alt. Otherwise POS's are designed to benefit the entire corp/alliance by offering a place to refit, re-arm, and retreat too. They can also provide alliance m8's with new ships deep in 0.0 or allow BPO research. Stop being so greedy and share or do what one of the other posters said and get a director to drop the stick for ya if you have friends in corp i'm sure one of them would be glad to do it for you, if not, find a new corp bud cause this game is about helping eachother out not putting on a tin foil hat as the trend of late seems to be.
PS i totaly agree with Sexorella hotz, Noop corp POS's, that makes me shudder to think of just what a nightmare that would unleash....

EVE is supposed to be a corp warfare game, not a solo one (though more and more of the new players don't seem to understand this).
I also wanted a personal POS simply because finding a research slot now days in empire is a joke. However I did it the way the rules allow, I gave up all my rights and roles in my Main corp and started a 1 person corp in order to put up and run my high sec and low sec POS.
The reasions I did this was so that if I PO another corp by my actions of placing a POS, they could Wardq me not my main corp. Thus I am only risking my self and my assets for my actions. See true Risk V Reward, I would never put my main corp at risk because of my own personal actions.
I do agree that there is a point where a personal POS is a necessity and actually not that hard to manage and maintain but we must never allow the good of the few to outway the good of the many (corp). Thats why I fight so hard to get the word out for CCP to end the Prat welfare programs, they like allowing personal POS only promote the MEism ("I")in EVE. And MEism in any MMOG is bad for the game and the community.
Besides, fly to any .5 systems moon and try to find one that does not have a POS there.
Instaid of asking for your own POS get behind one of the suggestions that a lot of us have made to revamp POS. Like for instance (shameless plug) My sugesstion for personal hangers at POS. You corp has a POS and you bring and anchor your own "habitat" that has as many internal modules as you want to add (repair, research, bar,,,) and to run it you provide the fuel in your personal storage. Thus would allow you (passworded)and only you to access your stuff, thus providing what you want while helping to maintain the corp's POS.
Quote: Think about the people that did fight you fairly. Think.... that were honorable and helped you out in times of need. Those are the real heroes of EVE.

For all of you using this:
Originally by: Artmedis Valben Its a territorial issue
1) one POS per moon 2) sovernity in 0.0 is determined on the basis of POSes 3) only a corp/alliance can be war decced (and territory fought over)
as a reason for why you can't anchor a pos for yourself, I have some information for you.
1) Number of POS's at a moon is irrevelent 2) To claim soverenty in 0.0 the pos has to be in 0.0. Last time I checked, you don't have to be at war to engage a POS (or anything) in 0.0. 3) Not all POS's have to be claiming soverenty. This is an option when you anchor the POS. If you launch for self, you have this option not available - solves that issue. 4) If the pos is in low sec, soverenty doesn't matter since you can claim over empire systems. 5) If this is still an issue, how bought if a POS was launched for self and someone wanted to destroy it, all they had to do was wardec the corp you're in. If they're at war with you, they're at war with all assets you own. __ __ _________ i'M aN iNSTiGaTaÆ NuKKa CaN'T you See

I agree, having a 2nd role that allows you to anchor POSs for yourself, which is only configurable by yourself is needed.
With restrictions to Sov, aka simply not being able to claim sov, and maybe limiting them to low sec/0.0, since an empire POS from someone in a noob-corp can NOT be taken down, since the GMs are simply going to recharge its shields, as you need to have a wardec on it.
While you wait for that, get your alt into his own corp, train anchoring lvl 2, get + standings with your mains corp and put the POS down?
