At the moment I've setup a long range 200k+ Rohk, it's amazing range and turret tracking wise with the setup I've got, it just doesn't do much damage.
My Setup looks like this
Highs 425 II Railguns x8
Mediums
Invulnerability Field II x2, Named EM Hardener, Two Named Sensor Boosters, and one tracking computer II
Lows
Named tech II Power Diagnostic System, one named tracking enhancer, and 3 MFS II.
Any recommendation on how too put some more dps out.Or should I just switch it out for a hyperion or abbadon. I'm new too the whole sniper thing, I usually I've fought in a blasterthron/deimos.
Skill wise it doesn't matter which of the BS's I pick, I've got Amarr, Caldari, and Gallente BS at 5 and have all necasarry tanking and weapon specializations for all three.

If you can live with 175km optimal range, then switch to an Abaddon. It does about twice the volley damage and 50% more DPS than the Rokh

Abaddon kicks ass. Nothing like getting 1.5k critical hits against shield / hull without having any damage mods fitted

What's the alpha of the abbadon with tachyons look like when compared to the alpha of the tempest or maelstrom with 1400's? This has been bothering me since they switched the rate of fire bonus on the abbadon to a damage bonus. -Wrayeth "Look, pa! I just contributed absolutely nothing to this thread!"

A 1400mm Tempest can get wreckings in excess of 2400 damage, so a 1500 tachyon wrecking isn't that impressive. Besides, alpha strike is overrated. ------------------------------------------ Every ship has a base 60-70% resist against the primary damage type of the race that is the least able to vary it's damage types. |

Unless the rokh uses normal ammo, then it out damages the abaddon at that range ---------------------------------------- Thou Shalt "Pew Pew" |

Don't know how you got that idea. Rokh needs Iridium to have >= 175km optimal with T1 ammo. Iridium does less dmg than Spike. So um no

Yea, my mistake. Messed the calc up.
That being said, using rigs it can hit 175km optimal with lead, though that wont do more than spike. ---------------------------------------- Thou Shalt "Pew Pew" |

Critical Hits? This is not wow. . . But ya, considering the state of alpha damage in light of the HP boost and the way resists are working, Alpha damage is a bit overrated. Tux said he would take a look at the issue, but as it stands, the high damage potential needs to last long enough to kill the targets. Whats nice about the Abbadon and laser systems in general is their flexibility with range due to 'instant' crystal ammo changing. All considered though, the Rokh is a very nice ship at range and tough to take out unless you warp ontop of it.

With the correct fittings, and good skills (which you seem to have), I've calculated the hyperion to be able to engage at 245km with a few low slots to spare for tankage. Did I mention that it has excellent targeting speed?
Of course, this requires rigs, gang skills, and drugs. Lots of drugs.

How on earth would you get 2400 wrecking damage with 1400 guns? I got all but spes arties to L5. Spes arties at L4.....never been close to 2400....even with T2 gyros fitted.... Ok....i only got L4 on BS skill.....but those 5% shouldnt do such a big difference....
