Edited by: Irovian on 19/12/2006 18:47:46 Edited by: Irovian on 19/12/2006 18:45:44 So, the other day I was out exploring in my shiny new Helios when I came upon a gravimetric deadspace signature in a fairly quiet low sec system.
After about 10-15 min or so I came within 2500 km of the signature and launched the last probe to make the final approach on the signature.
Since there were a few people in system I decided to bookmark my location and eject from the ship and warp in to see if there were any pilots or pirates at the location.
To my surprise there was nothing to be found other than vast field of high quality Gneiss asteroids.
So, warp out of the deadspace location and then try to warp to my bookmarked Helios. Unfortunately the bookmark ends up pulling me into the deadspace location instead of my ship.
So, I figure I'd wait a day for the complex to move somewhere else and I'd try to pickup my ship at that point.
Sadly when I return the ship was nowhere to be found and in it's stead some delightful fellow had left a shuttle. I was a little miffed but I figure that I had it coming for leaving it in space.
Anyway, a day or so later I receive a communication from a pilot claiming that he had my Helios. At first I was assuming he wanted to sell it back or just rub it in my face, but I tried to keep my cool and not let him get to me. To my amazement however he offered to send it back to me free of charge, a Christmas gift of sorts.
One might have called this person a pirate, although in my opinion "non-concord sanctioned combatant" would be a bit more accurate. Due to his less than perfect security rating I was a little wary about accepting the contract he issued to return my Helios. I assumed, wrongly so that it must be a scam.
The contract was legit, and I recieved all my equipment back, even the cloaking device and all the probes in my cargo!
So to all my fellow carebears, not ALL pirates are 12 year old anti-social grief-mongers out to ruin our day.
Maybe if we didn't wine so much, and go flinging baseless accusations and insults around we'd get many more civil reactions from our business partners. After all, if they didnÆt go around blowing stuff up and causing mayhem who would buy my equipment?

Well actually, chances are he was 12 years old, and was struck with grief and guilt I was like that in 2003. Now days tho...im a cool pirate
You're right tho. Not all pirates are *******. Take me - im not a mean guy - I dont swear, do drugs, listen to goth music, and salute the devil - But im a pirate ^^
I have no greater respect when it comes to piracy, than when the opponent doesnt see me as some sad whining 12 year old (btw im 19 rofl)

I resent that! I'm a 24 year old anti-social grief-monger!
Seriously though, most pirates are just normal people letting off steam. Which is worse; blowing up ships and losing isk, or paying 500m for a hulk that costs 50m to build?
You take what is offered. And that must sometimes be enough. |

My friend was taking out by a pirate last night. He set his price to not be podded and actually at the time was really bummed out in R/L since he was on his way to help me out in my newb adventure's.
just talked to him this morning and the pirate sent him a new ship with upgrades attached allready and his pod survival money back. with a merry x-mass note.
this i would assume is not the norm for pirates.

I stole someone's rupture once... It had a t2 med rep, and t2 artillery on it.
The sad part was, he was still in it and I got him to eject.
He seemed pretty bummed though, so I reimbursed him (a bit) later

I'm not anti-social. I'm 22. I don't enjoy making people mad. I will help out anyone in need. I'm not letting off steam. I'm just having fun.
But I like PVP, I love PVP, and I play for PVP. I like to kill who I want when I want. Does that make me a bad person? !!~JOIN THE SALVAGER CHANNEL~!! --------- http://www.gorgeousgamers.com/users/Matt |

Pah not many pirates are what I'd call "evil" we do what we have to to get by, I never grief only take what I need, and without people like me trying to take your stuff you'd get bored pretty dam fast :P
All the same I've never given back equipment I stole......mainly cause if I could afford to I wouldnt need to steal it in the first place

Would be fun to start a new char and try to live as a pirate without doing ANY carebear activity like mining, missions etc. Just live off what you rob from others. Steal because you need to survive. I bet its VERY difficult, but kind of cool. --- Eve Wiki | Eve Tribune | Eve Pirate |

i did this in amamake for a few months was fun. i pirated 90% solo and made quite a lot of isk (300mill ish.
i used only cruisers and frigs as a challange and i learned a LOT about pvp, scanning and avoiding getting ganked by others. i had over 200 kills with only 6 or 7 losses not bad i thought considering it was mostly solo in low grade ships.
i recomend any pirate tries this at least once u will discover a lot about ure self and learn a lot about survival.
and do it in amamake i did it 95% in one system and the kills were awsome.
fly safe all and yarrrr -----------------------------------------------

hmm.... Last thing we stole was a POS... well, small caldari control tower to be more specific.. I sat in a recon, watching these guys take apart a POS after they found out we were going to charge them an increased "rent" on the system when we discovered that they'd dropped a POS. We had half a dozen people sitting a couple systems off, as well as some waiting to clone jump in. As soon as the tower started unanchoring, poof.. insta fleet deployment. Poor guys, covering a POS removal with nothing more than a ferox and a manticore.. Ah well, hope they learned a lesson.. And NO, we didn't return their tower!
This isn't evil.... it's not piracy... It's resource redistribution at it's finest ____________________

Yes, but it wasn't a rampage, it just continued.
My new corp isn't NBSI though, so I had to calm it down a bit.
