As a community manager, theres nothing much said from Pann at the moment. This, in times where several new threads are created every single day regarding up-comming patches, new content, bug fixing etc.
According to Eve-i.com's dev post finder, Pann hasnt posted on the forums since the 5th of Nov. The "EVE information Central" hasnt been updated since 9th of Sep!! Dont even mention the Update section of this web page... Its not bad, its worse...
Im not demanding specific patch dates; it would be more than sufficient to hear comments of the weekly work beeing done in CCP-house. So, I as a player, would know why things are taking so long but, even more important: that there is some progress done to the game.
Pann, pretty plzz: a word, perhaps even a sentence, something.

Though my official title is community manager, I do much, much more than just community manager-type stuff. I've been working on some secret projects that have kept me otherwise engaged for some time now. Rule of thumb to file away for future reference: if I'm quiet, that's kind of a good sign because it means something big's about to happen.
We don't use Information Central anymore since we've added the News feature (that displays current news on both the website and in-game) and the dev blog. That's why you haven't seen new posts there since September.
As far as the current status of things here at CCP goes, what I can tell you is that we are not going broke, we are very close to unveiling some new goodies in-game and here on the website and the live dev chat we're having on Dec. 4th, sponsored by EveGate, will be a chance for everyone to get the scoop on what to expect with the big Tech 2 update that's coming mid-December (if testing continues to go well.)

Mid December is cool.
If you can't wait a few weeks for the patch then you've got far too much time on your hands.
I would prefer a patch to come out later and have fewer bugs then one to come out now and have a lot.
Besides, if they were to rush a patch out to appease some peoples impatience, they'd only come back on here and whine and moan about all the bugs thats in it.

But on the flipside I was expecting mid-december when dates like the 21st/24th of November were thrown around.

Edited by: Siolan on 25/11/2003 23:39:48 I'm both happy and angry. On one hand, the content update is MONTHS behind, not to even touch on what should have been in game at launch (read the POTW's, what so many of use got hooked on; I can't find almsot any of those things ingame or even discussed!).
So on one hand, CCP has yet missed ANOTHER deadline.
On the other that's not that far... assuming Pann means a tranq patch!
Unless CCP misses the deadline yet again. I say, and I know making a game is no certain buisness, but "mid-december" is still pretty vauge.. you'd think for something 3 years in development, and TEch 2 has been worked on at least since release (7 months), you'd have a more concrete window for us, like, Dec 18-21st.
I'll try to hold out that long, looking forward to the 4th. Though, if there is any indication of another missed date, well, lets just say my patience is already paper thin, and hovering over the account button.
Pressure is on, please get this one done on time
And kudos to Pann for responding.

thank you pann for the update. but as things go i wonder if people read most good threads put on this site. come on we are not noobs to the online game market ive been testing/playing for over ten years now.
you all should know the first year is filled with basic server updates and fixes. you all know of few games that give content updates in the first year and those that do make you pay for them.
over all for ccp first time out of the gate they are doing darn good work. many will say i can do better than this and most have at best wrote basic programes for small things now this is just a guess but thier must be over a million lines of code in this game. think about that for a sec it boggels the mind.
so i play about 30hours a week or more and waite for the good stuff to come.i know it will get here i love the game and im staying but if you all cant waite we all know that you just have to click the cancel account button and be done with it.

makeing people wait MONTHS for patches is a VERY BAD IDEA
take a look at the nose dive EnB's population did when they moved and took 2 months to patch. tis a very very bad idea

Has to be a damn big, secret project. Sounds a bit like the ninja-patch from hell (which just froze over) thingy :P You can't swing the carrot eternally. As the saying here goes: Walk the walk don't talk the talk. December 4th is conveniently far away.
It so reminds me of 'Total Recall' where he keeps repeating 'two weeks' until his head explodes (or rather the mask). I am waiting for that goodie - would sure be a distracting change.

While I totally agree that time should be taken to insure a playable patch, I do also note that 3-4 months for a patch is not a good thing. I'm sure that there will be some flamers/trollers who will say 'make your own content' but quite franlkly I pay my monthly fee for monthly content. So should ccp not charge me for 3 months since they have not patched in 3 months? no, and I respect the gargantuan efforts the devs have undertaken, however more information is better than no information, and i do applaud Pann for the recent post. Please keep us informed and do a better job in the future to implement smaller, monthly patches, rather than the quarterly behemouth ones

Always those hard decisions, my sub runs out on the 20th dec...... ccp really don't make it easy for me.
<conspiracy mode> they gave that date to keep all the 6 month subscribers ...move the carrot a lil further*g*<conspiracy mode> -- The worst thing you can do when suggesting a solution to a problem is to provide alternatives, people end up arguing the alternatives instead of implementing the fix. |

I have to agree with my Corp mates here a bit.
My 6 month subscription is also running out on the 16th of December, and it feels like their holding a carrot in front of our noses.
Maybe I'll go for a 1 month only subscription first, if they haven't got a decent amount of TechII in, that's about it I guess.
If they do, let's go for another 6 Months

"Whaaaa! Gimme gimme gimme! I want it now or I'll cry!"
Some of you people drive me nuts. On one hand you CONSTANTLY ***** about bugs in the game, and on the other, you whine about new content not being out fast enough because they want everything to test everything smoothly. Like a bunch of spoiled kids. Do you think CCP is just toying with us? Do you think they are not developing and testing content and Tech 2 as fast as possible?
If you cannot find anything at all to do in this game until Tech 2 comes out, your mommy should have helped to develop your imagination when you were a youngster.

I dunno, as time progresses, i'm finding myself less perturbed at the lateness of patches, more at the lack of content period. I don't mean the game is nothing, but as a percent compared to what is supposedly ancient history... it's very small.
If noone knows what I'm talking about, read the POTW's. Supposedly, all this stuff is already in the world, we aren't re-living history. Very few are actually ingame (Villinon, being one, and that was released after release, so).
The POTW's are what brought me to this game, and I'm jsut a tad dissapointed at not having them; it seems like if they are "planned" features, CCP should be releaseing them now, not before the game was made and leave everyone hanging.

so i come here and laugh at what the people here are like in the real world. but i just shake my head and say it takes all kinds and i go back playing see ya in space.

Pann,
on a related note, perhaps you could let us know what is going on with the news or "headlines" on the main www.eve-online.com page? The last entry is from October?!
I made a similar post a while back about it which you can read here. I only bring it up since you are talking about news and since you are reassuring us that all is well at CCP. :-)
