Bought myself a Myr, outfitted it for missions and flew around a bit. Realize I am a soloplayer. After a while I wondered why I would want to fly a Myr instead of a Domi? Assume you have Galente BS Skill, no reason IMO to fly a Myrm. Price is not that much less, and though it matches the Domi close in many aspects, the difference in CAP is too great, which is to me the biggest drawback. Any reason to fly Myrmidon? ----- FreeHansje

never wondered why you'd want to fly a Brutix over a Megathron or a Ferox over a Raven ?

The 'real' question you should be asking is "Why would I want to fly an Ishtar with it's borked bonuses when I can buy a Myrmidon and do more damage for 1/4 the price"...

I thought the Ishtar bonus' problem was fixed with the revelations patch

I'd really hope so, I look forward to getting my pod-ass into one of those...The problem with them to the poster before is that the bonus was borked to give 5% to drone dmg and that instead of the general 10% on every other drone ship, hoping it's been fixed...

The biggest reason i can see for flying a Myrmidon is if you are amarr, caldari or minmattar specced and fancy flying a heavy drone ship without having to train much (most pilots should already have decent drone skills so it's just gally frig 4 and cruiser 3) especially if you already have BC lvl 5. Same goes for the Drake ,especially for minmattar and amarr pilots that trained up shield and missile skills for Khanid ships. If you are Galante the Myrmidon may be little more than a stepping stone to a domi or iskur whaile you train the skills up. Thats my opinion anyway, and it works very well like that.

I certainly haven't seen anything in the patch notes that suggested the Ishtar was fixed and haven't seen any actual acknowledgement from CCP that it was broken in the first place...
For those that don't know, a few people did some extensive testing and it showed that the Ishtar's drone damage bonus was only 5% per level, rather than the 10% that is printed on the ship description. I haven't tested the Myrmidon, so not sure whether it gets the reported bonus - can only assume it does...

It all depends on the answer to the question "How much isk do i want to risk loosing?"
If you can afford to lose a domi then fly one, if not fly a myrm.

It depends what you want to do. I found the Myrmidon a fun ship to fly. One of the mainr easons for this is that it turned and moved faster than a dominux. that extra agility at least for me made it alot more fun.
Also while you can use cruiser level modules in a battleship such as guns etc. Your really under-achieving your ship alot. You can get a myrmidon ensure it and fly it quite cheaply.

Why?
Because it's new and different. A Dominix will out-perform the Myrmidion in everything but price (which is a small difference anyway once you start getting into Tech II, which ironically cruiser modules sometimes cost more then BS modules).
The agility and speed difference isn't really all that incredible, although it does gain some versatility in guns against cruiser sized and smaller targets.
