During the broadcast for Alliance Tournament XIII, and after the tragic passing of Empress Jamyl I, CCP announced that the Amarr Championships would once again take place to crown a new leader of the Empire.
Well, today CCP Logibro is here to announce the YC118 Amarr Championships, and give a first look at how to apply to represent an Amarr Heir in combat.
Rules and format will follow over the course of the next few weeks, but for now, check out his dev blog here for the first look at what's coming in November.

The Gold and Silver Magnates were designed for the Amarr Championships, so this is what they're awarded for.
Given that under "normal circumstances" the leader of the Amarr Empire can reign for >500 years, this might very well be the last Amarr Championship we ever see.

Lucas Quaan wrote:Rules wrote:Additionally for the finals, teams will be required to come up with their fittings for each round before the event without the assistance of members outside of their team. How on earth are you going to enforce that one?
They'll be in Iceland for Fanfest at that point. We put them in a room at CCP's offices with EFT/PYFA but no internet access, tell them the rules for the finals, then watch (and film for later use on the stream) their theorycrafting. Those setups are then locked in for the finals.
For the rounds before the finals everyone is welcome to have friends help with the theorycrafting, but the finals are done without a lifeline (so make sure you pick a team that can theorycraft without needing outside help).

With regards to ship skill requirements: You are not required to fly every Amarr ship on every character, but it will be advantageous to have as wide a selection as possible. Of course, having the ability to fly all Amarr ships may be looked upon favorably by heirs when it comes to selection, but it's no replacement for how well you can control them.
Additionally, with regards to command ships: there will be no round where anyone on your team must fly one (there will always be other ships available as well at that time) and at most, the rules for a round will permit a maximum of two pilots to be flying command ships.

You will need a passport, regardless of where you're from for identification purposes.
While you might not need it for travel through the Schengen Zone, we'll need official documentation to verify your identity and book flights in your name should you win.

So, that means that an EU ID card (20-30Gé¼) should suffice in stead of a much much much more expensive passport
Super easy way to say this is that it's on each participant to make sure they're able to travel internationally to Iceland.
If you can't travel, you can't compete, and you'll need to demonstrate to us that you can in order to be permitted in the Amarr Championships.
