During the broadcast for Alliance Tournament XIII, and after the tragic passing of Empress Jamyl I, CCP announced that the Amarr Championships would once again take place to crown a new leader of the Empire.
Well, today CCP Logibro is here to announce the YC118 Amarr Championships, and give a first look at how to apply to represent an Amarr Heir in combat.
Rules and format will follow over the course of the next few weeks, but for now, check out his dev blog here for the first look at what's coming in November.

you could have made the silver magnates slightly different instead of being completely worse in every way.
T3's need to be versatile not have T2 resists, OP dps and tank obsoleting T2 ships entirely.
ABC's are clearly T2 in all but name, remove drone assist, nerf sentries, -3 slots for droneboats

Since i live i live in Hungary i assume i dont need pasport is that correct? Since we are in the schengen zone.
Does the Toon have to fly all ship when u apply or if the skill in time till the first days of november is it enough?

I am really excited to see this happen! Is there a chance CCP might reduce the entry requirements for players who only have toons with low SP? Even if there are only limited "newbro" slots in such a case? |

Given that under "normal circumstances" the leader of the Amarr Empire can reign for >500 years, this might very well be the last Amarr Championship we ever see.

They'll be in Iceland for Fanfest at that point. We put them in a room at CCP's offices with EFT/PYFA but no internet access, tell them the rules for the finals, then watch (and film for later use on the stream) their theorycrafting. Those setups are then locked in for the finals.
For the rounds before the finals everyone is welcome to have friends help with the theorycrafting, but the finals are done without a lifeline (so make sure you pick a team that can theorycraft without needing outside help).

can you clarify this? does every team member have to be able to fly every amarr ship or is the team as a whole meant to be able to. also when does this apply, from match 1 or only for the finals?

Sorry, this is just lazy and a giant middle finger to the current and previous owners of those ships.
I really just don't understand why you're so quick to reuse old prizes. First the blink business which was rightly shut down after massive negative player feedback and now this. Why not just create a punisher or even a confessor and hand those out as prizes?. You could even do something interesting and make some sort of unique skin corresponding to the winner's house. There's absolutely nothing wrong with having relics of the past in the database that don't see play on TQ, especially in the case of the gold magnate where the only one was flown and subsequently destroyed years ago.
Pretty much the only thing that you could've done that would be worse would be to issue new impocs and imp geddons.

There was the whole uproar over this before because bringing the Gold Magnate back was going against one of the core principles of the game: Once it's gone its gone.
The last Gold Magnate was destroyed and that's part of the Eve history. It should be kept as that.

I wish you'd have added a Gold/Silver Punisher or similar instead of suddenly reviving very old EVE history. No more ahhh, ohhh, ehhh, woooo wonders about talks of the OLD ships, now will be forgotten and anyone saying Gold/Silver Magnate will only think of the YC117/118 Championships and the old lore and history is completely forgotten, wrong move imo.
For example, what makes the history of (one of) the Impoc so great is the fact that it was returned to the Empire through a player event. Introduce more Impocs and who would care about getting to know that event?

Considering the Drifters seemed to find it so easy to kill the leader of the Amarr Empire this time...and they are at war with each other. Couldnt they just kill the new one on a weekly basis? :D |
